  1. So ... we can agree to disagree. I believe that my morality is revealed through what I do & that my environment can help or hurt my moral development ... and others (some in this thread?) believe that our decisions are independent of our true values and are based in a moral vacuum -- not influenced by what we see or hear ... Do I have that right?
  2. Funny thing about image ... is that it is relative to the sight of the one making the comment ... I should have added that it has tarnished it in my mind (but didn't think that to be necessary). I also concur that they have beat us, not by cheating, but by having superior players, coaching, etc. and at times us beating ourselves when their team stumbled (see last year). Has their cheating enhanced the matchups through the years? Maybe, possibly, probably ... we'll never know ... that's the other side of dishonesty ... you never know what you are getting. Is it the real deal? It is cheating? We don't know. In raising kids, dishonesty is the worst sin a child can commit against one's parents ... trust can be shattered (especially when it is a pattern of dishonesty) and take years to restore ... if ever.
  3. To a large extent, the Pats didn't need to cheat to beat Buffalo the last 10 years. They beat us ... we beat us. I don't blame the losing streak against the Patsies on their cheating ... but they have forever tarnished their image b/c they thumbed their noses at the authorities of the league. I remember most of the 70s ... I hate the Dolphins, but I respect that team that beat us 20 straight times. The Patsies are much of what I don't want my kids to be in growing up. This goes back to some of my most recent posts that I got hammered for. This is a sad commentary on our culture ... we are all about selfishness. Common courtesy is not all that common. Common courtesy plays by the rules because it is right. Our culture of selfishness finds any and all loopholes to jump through and then cheats as much as possible without getting caught.
  4. Yet the best blitz pick up was done by Spiller. A GB LB tried to jump him, expecting Spiller simply cut-block. Spiller held his ground and gave TE the time he needed. Unfortunately Matthews blew thru the middle on that play for one of his three sacks ... but Spiller did his job
  5. Again, I am beyond belief that being unselfish is something to be criticized.
  6. Courtesy is defined as a courteous, respectful, or considerate act or expression. That's exactly what I'm advocating by you look out for other's interests first. You've apparently missed my point. You're criticizing me for calling us to be less selfish? By saying I should show courtesy?
  7. Words like freedom & liberty actually mean nothing to you. I'm sure you'll try to deny it, but there was a time that your thoughts would be considered un-American. Now in our country, it's all about me, me, me. This attitude is what is taking our country down. It's not the economy, not taxes ... It's a me first, selfish, perverted view of liberty. Life is much better for everyone if you think of others before you consider your own desires. I still find it hard to believe that you admit that you're like this. I'd be embarrassed to admit something like that.
  8. oh ... the free lunch is at the Adams Mark Hotel ... because we scored 3 TDs. I got my free lunch ... I just wanted a burrito, too.
  9. Reggie Corner got lucky on a play where he was 5 yards behind his cover ... he didn't do much to help his position. He was beat badly off the line.
  10. "pretty decent", huh? I know you're not a Trent fan, but really? The only reason he didn't have another bomb to Evans this week is that LE didn't go hard off of the ball right from the start. If he didn't dog the first part of his pattern, it was another 70 yard TD. Even that "overthrow" was a beautiful pass ... and that was his worst pass of the night. Two of the other three incompletes were throwaways escaping a sack. Tonight was a very good night for Mr. Edwards.
  11. Con The only reason Reggie Corner got a pick 6 is because he was 5 yards behind the receiver and Palmer Pt. Deux missed the receiver by that much ... Corner was beaten badly on that play and got lucky. And that made it so the Bills stopped passing the ball, thus eliminating the Free Burrito coupon from Moe's in the GameDay program.
  12. It doesn't take a bad football team for the backup QB to be the most popular ... there were times during the glory years that people were calling for Reich to start ... even in the playoffs ... "Kelly's been hurt, Reich has lead us to 3 straight wins, we should keep starting him even though Kelly is healthy again ..."
  13. negative exponents essentially make the result closer and closer to zero ... x-2=1/x2 so ... I believe he's saying that you almost don't suck at all ...
  14. Eliminate the mistakes ... cut Corner and relegate Moats to special teams ... those two cost us about 21 points(Corner allowed at least 2 scores on bad plays & missed the pick 6), 250 yards & lots of momentum all by themselves. Out of position and lunging at air all over the place ...
  15. Speaking as a pastor ... Let's say ... I do not want to move to 'Nebraska' (for example), and I am free to say that I don't want to go there. If my denomination moved me there (as an assignment, out of my control) ... it would be rude to tell the parishioners there that I really didn't want to be there, so I would be quiet and be a good servant. That being said ... expectations for a pastor & a football player are slightly different.
  16. I don't think the Bills really developed Kelly ... he arrived quite polished already. Did he improve in Buffalo? Yes ... but we didn't get him from being a college QB to a pro QB.
  17. If we want to be picky about it ... Kelly had about 54 games in the USFL to season his pro game & make the transition from college ... that probably didn't hurt his entry in the NFL.
  18. watching that highlight reel again ... Spiller makes the field look so much bigger b/c of the separation he got on almost every one of those plays. It looks like PeeWee football because there is so much room ... I can't wait to see him for real in the NFL.
  19. When's the last time Favre had made his decision whether or not to play this early in the offseason? He's kept his team in the dark regarding his playing every year since about '01
  20. no one trades a reigning league MVP unless there's a problem ... that happened to Flutie ... TWICE ... once was midseason IIRC in a MVP season. He was a problem everywhere he went ... except in NE (the second time) because he was a novelty with his dropkick.
  21. you forgot to put the "PI" in the middle of your description
  22. I'll go on record saying that if Tennessee called and offered us Chris Johnson for our #1 ... I would take it in a heartbeat. Move Lynch now or later or never ... doesn't matter. If I was guaranteed to receive a young, highly productive player for a #1, I do it every time. If we were hoping for a 2nd - 3rd for Lynch ... Johnson is worth at least a #1.
  23. I don't need to watch the video to remember that play ... TT didn't throw Flutie under the bus, but let's ask who more likely botched the play: 1. the longtime Bill, running a play he'd been running for nearly a decade? 2. the shortime Bill, who showed everywhere he has ever been that it has to be all about him? There was a reason he was the CFL MVP 5 times, on THREE different teams. Twice his last season with a team was an MVP year. Hmmm ...
  24. Without watching the video ... I assume this is the game where Flutie runs in the winner at the end of the game? TT was still awesome at this point ... and Flutie botched the simple handoff at the end so that HE could be the hero. While a fun game, and was great to watch ... it started me down the road to not liking Flutie. It was always about HIM ... not the Bills.
  25. Losman's career was over the moment that Meathead inserted him in the game against a ferocious Pats* defense even though he was the 3rd string/emergency QB and he wasn't given any time to warm up. Talk about being thrown to the sharks ... what was it? 6 plays, 3 turnovers? Game, set & match ... I think he may have developed, but we will never know ... it's all over now. EDIT: sorry, I just looked it up ... 6 dropbacks, 1 INT, 1 sack, 1 fumble ... welcome to the NFL, Rookie
