  1. I have no problem with this deal if it is Henry and the Bills 2nd round pick to move up 14 spots in the draft. I would feel a little better about it even if the Cards threw in a 4th rounder or something, but think about what Henry really means to this team right now going into 2005. Clearly Henry does not want to stay in Buffalo and I were a member of the Buffalo Bills, I would not want to have a guy on my team who is not going to give maximum effort. Sure he might be valuable if Willis gets hurt, but I would rather see the Bills move up in the draft, maybe they can get Baas or Nugent even, and they can find a backup RB who is perhaps a better receiving back, or someone who will block for the QB, and who WANTS to be with the Buffalo Bills. Make the deal TD, even if it does not include Shelton.
  2. Happy Birthday to one of the best posters here, enjoy your birthday KRC!
  3. Besides making 1 bad pitch to Adam Dunn the 1st inning. Pedro was dominant..I agree the end result dosent look great, but Pedro has a long stretch in that game where he was nearly unhittable.
  4. And I bet Vernon Wells returns to the form he was at 2 years ago as well. Blue Jays also have another pitcher, David Bush, who will be very good.
  5. Corey Simon wants too much money, personally I would pa$$ and he is undersized and Ron Edwards will do just fine filling in for Pat Williams...
  6. It will certinately give me flashbacks to hearing this once a game for years "False Start, #79, offense!"
  7. Put Matsui or Sheff in the 2 slot on the batting order and A-Rod 3rd and 4th and A-Rod would be the one with the better numbers last year.
  8. Peter King proves sometimes getting great jobs is just a matter of right place, right time.
  9. I think it is a combonation of a couple of factors: Maybe people think pitchers like Chris Carpenter might not hold up for an entire year (he has a long history of injuries) and Jeff Suppan and Jason Marquis had career years. Now this might not be the case, but maybe that part of the reason for the thinking the Cards might not advance. And will they be able to replace Renteria at SS, is Eckstein really the answer there? And Matheny is such a great defensive catcher, will they miss him and the presence Im sure he had on the pitching staff? The other factor is some of the teams behind them IMO got getter, like Florida and Atlanta. And Im sure people still believe if the Cubs can keep their trio of Zambrano, Wood and Prior healthy, they can beat anyone in a short series. Having said all this, it would not shock me one bit to see the Cards in the WS again.
  10. They will be better then people think...their lineup is very good, they have good, not great, but good young pitching and BJ Ryan will be a top closer someday.
  11. Why would it suprise so many that he would be on roids? Track stars take steriods to gain speed, why not a basestealer? Steriods isnt ALL about juicing to hit Home Runs.
  12. Watched the game at home with one of my best friends. I was taping the game for my father who living in Buffalo at the time....a little after the 2nd half when it was still 28-3, I stopped taping the game, told my buddy "why should I tape this any longer!, it was a good run, we went to 2 straight Super Bowls, etc"....then when it became 35-3 I still watched and had no reaction.... When Kenny Davis scored and the Bills finally got going by friend says "Bills are gonna win" and he was serious, I laughed it off, but when the Bills came all the way back and took the 38-35 lead, I was so fired up it was uncontrollable....then after the game, who is a die hard Cowboys fan, told me that our teams will meet in the Super Bowl....in some ways, unfortunately he was right!
  13. I would not say it was a miracle season last year, it was tough to watch that as a Yankees fan, but the Red Sox were a damn good team last year, Pedro and Schilling were better then anything the Yankees could throw at them, and their lineup was great too.
  14. But if the $ox won 8-2 you would be romancing about Red Sox baseball....as for me, its only one game, thats it. And all you got right now is to whine about "this is a Bills board, and let's not talk about baseball?" My goodness that is so weak.
  15. Did the Cardinals get the memo that they were supposed to participate in the 2004 World Series?
  16. I think most posters here have responsibility when they post, but I believe there are a handful here that just want to stir things up and get a rise out of people with outlandish comments
  17. In reaction to the getting the facts right thread, you have the exact facts to back up that statement?
  18. Its gonna be next to impossible to pull that off....remember Im sure pitchers were juiced too...media usually seems to forget that part of it, Im sure the juice would help with pitcher's velocities, no?
  19. I love the NFL but lets be real here: NFL is perfectly suited for TV....games all about the same time...much better to market that way. Gambling: MUCH more prevalent in the NFL and Im sorry, this does help the leagues popularity, no matter how you slice it, is it concidence that the Super Bowl and the NCAA Tournament are arguably the most popular events in this country and they are both bet on more then anything else? Now the NBA has a cap, how come teams like the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Milwakee Bucks, and the Golden State Warriors always seem to tread water? In the NFL yes it is more competitive, but there are a few teams recently and over a long period of time (Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals) have been treading water for a LONG time, whats the problem there? I believe 100 percent if you get the RIGHT baseball people with the RIGHT owner in ANY market, you can succeed. Florida, Oakland have proved that.
  20. I thought winning the Championship is all that matters...now that a point wants to be proven and something is said about the NFL, it dosent matter...unreal. NBA has a cap too, how many different teams really win there either?
  21. And New England has won 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls and the Philadelphia Eagles have been in the Final 4 four straight years....yep, stuff like that ONLY happens in baseball, yes, it does happen in the holy grail of the NFL too. I know I bring this up a lot, and it may be a nomnation for the Dead Horse Beaters club, and yes, baseball HAS problems, but I guess the fact that 4 different rteams have won the World Series in the last 4 years seems to escape a lot of people's minds
