  1. I agree, I really can't fault someone for taking twice as much money for a job. Lawyer's comment was stupid the way he said it, but the fact is he left a team that missed the playoffs and went to a team that paid him more and appeared to be on the upswing as well.
  2. I'm afraid it's not just the conseco types that are into that.....
  3. I really hope he is ok. I hope it wasn't a stroke, but it if was brace yourself for the speculation.
  4. ATH sucks, but I love PTI. Kornheiser and Wilbon are great together. Steven A. Smith is an idiot....and thinks if you miss a field goal on 3rd down you can try again on 4th down....
  5. someday I'll be on that list. some day...
  6. as Eddie Belfour would say "One Billion Dollars"
  7. and here is good old gary talking now:
  8. So we have a red sox fan who thinks he plays left field, and a yankee fan who thinks he is the catcher!!! not sure which is worse.
  9. I disagree - as long as you look around you should have no trouble finding a decent hotel for $150. watch what you say about Hoboken....
  10. Arod started it.
  11. Yeah, but that was still better than Jeter's ALCS batting average!!!
  12. I highly recommend hotwire.com to find a hotel. Make a regular reservation somewhere now and then a month before you go check hotwire for good deals. You will probably find a 4* hotel for $130 or so at that point - if it's a better deal than your reservation you can grab it.
  13. what were the salaries of the rangers, leafs etc?
  14. if the players accept this they should throw their union head in front of a bus tomorrow. What an f'ing waste. You mean a group that will lose more money if they play than if they don't is serious about this lockout thing??
  15. 1) The rust belt argument doesn't work. Cleveland and Pittsburgh have done much, much, much better than Buffalo has. 2) Do you really think all of the 10,000 employees have useful jobs? I would guess that if 2,000 of them got hit by a bus tomorrow you wouldn't see any difference in your daily life. A perfect example was the guy I met 2 years ago who worked for the county in Syracuse (don't know the county). He was 25 years old, and bragging about the maintenance job with the county his uncle got him that pays him $35k, and where he works maybe an hour or two per day. Sits around reads papers and "bullsh*ts wit the guys" for the rest of the time. This kid was so psyched about his pathetic little job I wanted to punch him in the face. Yes this example is a different county, but the same thing is happening with blue collar and white collar workers all over the county.
  16. there have been about 4 of them.
  17. I think Jen is hot.
  18. that's why you need to get Super Techmo Bowl, a game for the ages.
  19. I'm telling you, we can't have 2 qb's who talk like girls. stay away.
  20. From Czabe.com (which I highly recommend as a daily read)... And finally today, lest anybody accuse me of trying to “cover for whitey” how about this little cherry of criminality on the sh-- sundae the NHL is serving up with the cancellation of their entire season! STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Sweden's ice hockey federation banned three national team players for the remainder of the season on Saturday, two days after being accused of rape by a 22-year-old woman. Kristian Huselius, 26, and Andreas Lilja, 27, teammates on the Florida Panthers, and Henrik Tallinder, 26, of the Buffalo Sabres, reportedly told police they had sex with the woman in their hotel room after meeting her in a downtown bar early Wednesday, but that it was consensual. REACT: Good job, boys. Flush your million dollar jobs down the drain thinking you are the NBA, and then gang-rape a 22 year old. Hockey players have to be, without question, the stupidest of all the four major sports. Football players more violent, baseball players more juvenile, basketball players more selfish, but when it comes to pure “duh” factor, the biscuit whackers have everybody covered. See you in 2006. Maybe.
  21. Fair enough, I don't know the details of your job but it just suprised me to see the same person who argued against the lazy union argument also be the same one who brags about going to work, drinking coffee and having nothing to do some nights.
  22. it is a piece of software that turns everything into links. You click on that link and an advertiser pays a few cents. What did you download recently?
  23. Rock stars get far and away the most tail of anyone on earth - more than movie stars, sports stars or anyone else.
  24. they have 1.5 million employees - they are bound to f up along the way. What amuses me about your whole union argument is that you talk about the good of unions, but also brag about the nights you go to work to make time and a half and don't have to do any work.....
