  1. It doens't matter if they had cap space. THEY DIDN'T CONSIDER HIM A STARTING CB ANY LONGER. Just because you have cap space doesn't mean you overpay a player that has run his course with your team. And on top of that....they considered their other two CB's BETTER. So, what do you do? Go with better CB's (according to Andy Reid) as starters, and then pay Troy Vincent....a nickel CB more money? What the hell kind of sense does that make? On top of that.....how well do you think the two starters would take to that? LOL, and the Eagles didn't lose the SB because Troy Vincent was a Bill. Gimmie a break. I think Deion Sanders was the only difference maker EVER in shutting down an opposing teams passing attack. There were great CB's in the NFL that you could count on week in and week out, but nobody in the league had an impact on the passing that Deion did ( and I hate him). You're making TV out to be Deion. Hell, I can remember when all you saw of TV was the back of his numbers when the Bills of the 90's torched him over and over.
  2. Valid point. But for this team.....we have to blitz every play to generate that pass rush. Which is also cool with me too, but I'd rather have a stud coming off of the edge with Schobel on the other side.
  3. Yeah, no doubt.....but if I remember correctly, wasn't it 4th and LONG? If it wasn't 4th, I know it was like 3rd and 17 or something wasn't it? Worst play of the year. Easily. He shouldn't get a pass for stupidity.
  4. Amen, but that doesn't mean anything. Knock down that pass, and we're in the playoffs. That's a pretty big mistake in the grand scheme of things, and everyone is just willing to let that stupidity slide. I would like to think a player of that caliber would use better judgement. Now, did other players screw up? Hell yes. Did others screw up in a bigger spot than that one? No. But it was OK, cuz the season was "early". That's such BS. Every game counts, and that play was the most costly of the season for us.
  5. Why would you not need Troy Vincent as a nickel CB? Any idiot would have loved to have Troy Vincent at nickel CB. AGAIN.....there is no way Troy Vincent would have resigned to play nickel CB. And, on top of that....when Andy Reid decided that Vincent was expendable....which he was as a starter......there is no way he could give Vincent the money he would have commanded as a nickel CB. Who the hell in the league couldn't have used Vincent as a nickel CB? All you would have had to do is probably pay him more money than your starter or maybe, in some team's cases, both starters at CB. And there's no way in hell that is going to happen.
  6. Oh, and NO......you must understand philosphy....just as I said..... I REPLACE CLEMENTS WITH A DE, not a CB. I might draft a CB high or see who develops, or pick up mid grade salary CB's. AS LONG AS A dominant DE is the replacement for Clements. If that's the TD's plan, then hell no, you can't sit back there with the scruff we have as backups now. My main philosophy on stopping the pass, is rushing the passer, not sitting back and trying to blanket WR's.
  7. And how the hell do you think the Eagles could have paid Troy Vincent to be a nickel corner? And do you really think Troy Vincent would have settled for nickel money to stay with the Eagles and given up his starting job to younger guys, when they couldn't work out a deal in the first place? Come on man, the only way Troy Vincent stays with the Eagles, is if he gets a CB spot locked down, and he gets starter money. He wasn't that good anymore. Thus, he's at safety for us.
  8. I can see that. However, one is to assume that if you don't pay Nate Clements.....and you decide to spend somewhere else to compensate.....I would pay an established DE who gets after the QB, so that you know what you are getting. It's all relative though.....maybe there aren't any pass rushers coming available on the market....and other factors....who knows. All I know, if you look back......and not too far ago......I would take Bruce Smith, Reggie White, or any of the guys who rushed the passer over Deion Sanders, Darrell Green or any of those guys. DE's get after the QB every play. CB's can't hold on forever on coverages, and you can simply throw at the other ONE OR TWO, every play. Seems a no brainer to get a pass rusher instead of Nate to me. BUT if we do sign Nate......that's not a bad thing either.
  9. How did Champ Bailey getting all that money help Denver against Indy last year? Gimmie a pass rusher anyday. Pouring HUGE money into a CB spot is the dumbest thing a GM can do. Doesn't mean I don't think Nate isn't the 2nd best player on our D either. I think he's a great player, just not where a ton of cap dollars should be spent.
  10. No, I don't think they could have used Vincent or Taylor at all. Neither one of them are regarded as great CB's anymore. Hell, we had Nate Clements, and in case you missed it....the Patriots threw all over us, in our house, with Nate back there. And if you use the excuse that they went away from Nate....then great......we need more CB's, and if you pay Clements what he wants, our other CB's ar going to get even worse, because we won't be able to afford anything but crap. Pass Rush my friend....I'll take it any day. Both sides of the line in football is where you win games. Anyone who has ever coached on the field knows that.
  11. That's exactly my point. Since they get after the passer.....they can almost plug in any CB's they want. We could easily do the same. Nate Clements is NOT the best CB in the league. While Clements age is a real nice factor, there isn't a CB in the league that carries his team. If you overpay at the CB spot, that's just stupid caponomics. Most teams have so many good WR's now that about the only way to stop the passing game consistently is get to the QB. I'm a defensive coordinator at the high school level. My philosphy on stopping the pass is simple....GET TO THE QB QUICKLY. Thus, 20 games....two years....11 shutouts, and a record of 17-3. We are aggressive, and the players love blitzing a ton. Every time we get conservative, we get picked apart. CB's can easily be hidden if you have a pass rush. And the money Nate Clements wants would land a GREAT pass rusher.
  12. OK, at 2:00 pm today....I made the following researvations so far. They are holding 5 booths for us. The booths are big. Reservations are for 5:15pm. I have booths for...... CentralVaBills (me) - My mom, girlfriend and I. Poojer - 2 Utes, and 2 bigger Pooj's Rubin Shore - Rube, Wife, 2 kids MadCap - I think there were 4 in Caps group, maybe more. He is yet to confirm. 5th Booth- is for a late straggler. Let me know. I have inquiries from 3 others so far.....first one to confirm gets the booth.
  13. Ahhhh, don't be shy Jay.....it's just a short ride down the Hull Street. I have now reserved 5 booths so far. We won't have a huge group, but it should be a good one. Maybe 15 or so. I have my throwback Lee Evans jersey ready to go. Join us man, bring a friend or two. But let us know, so you can sit by us.
  14. Wasn't Nate a Pro Bowl alternate last year? But I may be wrong.
  15. I agree. I'd rather take the money, and spend it on a pass rushing DE. You put heat on a QB, coupled with Milloy and Vincent playing at the safeties, and you can work with almost any kind of CB's. Ask the Eagles.
  16. No, that was a ridiculous "lapse". CB is the toughest position no doubt. However, while Nate is very good, he's not a shut down CB.
  17. Let's keep this bumped!!! We have about 10 I think so far.
  18. Bump, for those that emailed yesterday!
  19. OK all......I talked to Becky, the manager of the southside Mulligans on Hull Street. She called me back to say that they will have the Bills game this Saturday. I tend to believe her, because she even told me the time. I would like to see alot of us down there this Saturday. I have enclosed the address AND phone number so you guys can call her and hear it from her. Anyway, she WILL take reservations from Bills fans so that we can sit in the same area. I want to go to this one, because about 10-15 of us always meet there for regular season away games. Maybe some of them will go this week as well. Plus, there is no worry about parking like at the downtown location. If you want, call and tell them you'd like a booth / table around Brian, and then let me know here that you are coming. I will reserve my table / booth tomorrow (Friday) Wear some Bills gear. The pertinent info is here....... PM me if you need to....make it happen.....Mulligan's ownership is VERY pro Buffalo, and we can keep it this way. Some items on the menu are named after things in Buffalo. Hope to see you all here...... Mulligan's Sports Grille 11146 Hull St Rd Midlothian, VA 23112-3205 (804) 744-8686 Drop me a response here, if you are coming, so I can look for all of you!
  20. LMAO......true. Maybe he shouldn't have burned all his bridges.
  21. Hey, remember, on the premise itself, I agree with you. The theory was off, IMO. And come on, BF usually started stuff first, and he gets piled on. And it was usually because he was way out there in name calling or baiting people over and over. But Brad Riter.....all he did was have a topic on his radio show, and you went off on the vile name calling path. I'm with ya on thinking of him whatever you want.....but damn man, that was some hateful stuff......especially when he is TBD friendly. You don't need to apologize to him, but seriously, easy on the way you choose to bash someone on a public forum. Your point would have been just as easily taken as if you would have said....."Damn this conspiracy thing was idiotic". If you think he is a retard......imagine what they may think of us, because of the profane, childish names you called him.
  22. Jesus Eryn, it has nothing to do with calling him on it. But !@#$tard? And all of that? Come on man, it makes you sound pretty childish. Oh well, I'm done. Just my 2 cents.
  23. Well, at the time, it was all happening so fast. AND, on the baseball board at that. And if you notice, each time it just started to die down.....the gasoline that was BF in Indiana would show back up and flame it again. It almost became a migration of sorts out to a suburb (Baseball Board) from the city (TSW). An instant classic was born.....in which to this day......I say is the all time greatest, only because it survived and thrived on the much less traveled baseball board. Not saying it's content was any better than the homework or other classics, but this one had the zing to survive where it shouldn't have. I could see a TBD Films (Like NFL Films) session 10 years from now with people from this thread discussing how it took off, in front of a black background, all serious in an interview. How funny would that be. The title of the interview, of course, "This Friggin Abortion".
