I am still VERY concerned about Bell and Green. If we had anything resembling a good tackle on the roster I would be very optimistic this season.

Season ticket base dropped by over 11,000
ACor58 replied to Chalkie Gerzowski's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Makes sense. With the onfield performance and the general economic pessimism facing the entire country, just not WNY, that number does not surprise me. It is hard for a lot of families to justify the expense of season tickets when there is much uncertainty surrounding their jobs, etc. -
Navy and ESPN - 4th and Goal Navy is down 17-14 and about to go for it from the Maryland 1

They are losing 14-7 and should be up by two scores

Here is his one minute drill about the Bills - everything that he says has been said here before. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/video/nfl/2010/08/31/083110.peter_king_bills_preview.SportsIllustrated/ one note that I found interesting, he used to be really high on Trent Edwards but he seems to have cooled off. Either way I think that his assessment is accurate. FWIW - I don't think that the Jets, Dolphins, and Patriots are as stacked as the national media thinks that they are - which could equal a few extra wins for the Bills.

wow - the NY Times sports coverage sucks too. It should also read like this. "The NY Jets team is a lot like head coach Rex Ryan's bowel movements - massive, greasy, impressive on paper and has everyone talking, but most importantly, they stink".

Unless you are James Hardy

Rush, definitely Rush. They are like Nickelback from 30 years ago.

ESPN's Bill Simmons on Trent Edwards
ACor58 replied to Dorkington's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bill Simmons was hilarious. His schtick has gotten very tired and very old. He has become what he hates, a predicatble, boring, ESPN personality. I just sent him this email - not that he reads them. Wow - way to mail it in Simmons. You are like Rick Reilly except your heyday was not quite as long and you peaked too early. You used to be funny, now it is painfully obvious that you are trying way too hard. I am sure that your interns will not even pass this on to you but I hope that you get it. Instead of the voice of the fan you have turned into the voice of the typical Boston fan, the one that most people in this country hate, a smug, arrogant, characiture. I congratulate you on your success - you truly are self made and for the amount of traffic you direct to ESPN.com you are probably underpaid. But now I can officially put you in the same category of your favorite people at ESPN, including Rick Reilly, Chris Berman, Skip Bayless, and Colin Cowherd. -

Bob mailed that column in. He must have been at the track. -
Edwards' Total Preseason Stats
ACor58 replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yards are yards is an over simplification. Like I said before the ability to hit on the 15 to 20 yard throws are what separate the really good from the really bad QBs in this league. I didn't say that Trent is not capable of making those throws, he just hasn't thrown enough of them in the preseason. If Trent can consistently hit on those throws this season we are in for a lot of fun games. -
Edwards' Total Preseason Stats

Valid point and I should have clarified. I have seen him throw deep balls over his career and of course short stuff. The intermediate throws into traffic are the hardest to make and we still haven't had a chance to really assess his ability to do so. -

Like the both of you, I am very encouraged by the way Trent played, but I wish I would have seen more intermediate throws and completions. Last night Trent was 4-4 for 66, 50 of which came on one play. Same with Indy 5-8 for 93 with 70 coming on one play. I am still excited but tempered. -
I am not prediciting and 2-14 season and the #1 overall pick, but after reading this article, whoever does end up with that pick will get a heck of a leader. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=lc-locker090110

I had heard that the coaching staff was considering moving him to safety but he wasn't quite big enough.

From what I have read, I think that the orgainzation really thinks that Levi has the potential to be the starter over time and would not want to risk a 50/50 chance of losing him. Of course time will only tell.

Did you also see that Mario Haggan is a starting inside LB with Denver. I always liked him and was sorry to see that we let him go.

If the NFL really wants the guys to stop using drugs they should hand out mandatory 16 game suspensions, which in theory could carry over to another season. On a side note, the only thing that former 49er Eric Johnson is doing right now is Jessica Simpson so he is available.

I just got the text for vzw. That must be why he didn't play last night.

drugs?

After Trent got popped, it sounds strange, but I felt like he might have gotten some sense knocked into him. He looked like he was fired up and he was definitely pumped after the bomb to Evans. I can't remember the last time I saw him that excited. As great as the bomb was, I thought his best pass was the one he dropped over the corner into Steve Johnsons hands (even though Steve dropped it). My optimism is gaurded - He typically plays well against 4-3 but I will not become a believer until he does it against a 3-4 Defense. Joique Bell may have seperated himself from Chad Simpson as a back up RB, but I really think that Simpson has a lot to offer in the return game. His straight away speed is impressive. Did Drayton Florence really get called for 3 holding penalties. McKelvin was awesome and Donte was the complete opposite as he was last week against Washington. Did anyone else see Maybin get stood up and dropped by the up man (a running back) on the punt return in the 3rd quarter. That was pathetic. Do we have any tight ends and are they ever open? I noticed that Manning went to his TEs quite a bit and as I was flipping to the NE game they went to their TEs several times.

We already have 3 of him on our roster, why not add him as a 4th for fun. We should offer Rex Ryan a couple of sheet pizzas and a 2 liter of Diet Pepsi.

PAT PAT PAT PAT PAT PAT BOOM!

Remember how hard JP worked with Sam Wyche.

I think the reason that most people don't like him, myself included, is that he has been annointed Sanchize by his coaches, teamates and the media. The truth is that his rookie QB stats and ratings are actually worse than JaMarcus Russell's first as a starter. Sanchild Comp % 53.8 Y/A 6.7 TDs 12 INT 20 Rating 63.0 JaMarcus Comp % 53.8 Y/A 6.6 TDs 13 INT 8 Rating 77.1 Here is to hoping that Sachype has a worse year two.
