One of the things that stuck out to me was that Bill Polian had high regard for Dick Juron and that was one of the considerations in hiring him. I really couldn't remember if Polian had left the Bills on good terms or bad terms and why he would be trying to help the team out. I found this quote from a 2004 article and it answered my question. I think that we are in pretty good hands now... "The Colts and the Chargers in a sense have a common origin. Stewards of both teams, Polian here, A.J. Smith in San Diego, can relate their grounding in the game to Marv Levy, from whom they received their schooling when the three were associated with the Chicago Blitz of the U.S. Football League and later the Bills. "Oh, absolutely," Polian said of his debt to Levy. "He was the greatest influence on my professional life and personal life, too, in many ways, although, unfortunately, I don't live up to all the things he stands for. But I try." Polian said he can see the imprint that, through Smith, Levy has made on the Chargers. "You can see Marv's handwriting all over the team," Polian said. "His philosophy, his approach, is just DNA – it's in your bones. Like most people in this game, we're all descended from a founding father, if you will. In our case, it was Levy, without question. Bill Walsh, Chuck Noll, Don Shula, Tom Landry, those greats leave an indelible mark on all the people who were fortunate enough to serve them." "

Wouldn't Marv and Ralph say only 45?

What JP needs is an offensive line to block for him. That will definitely help.

The only way that we trade Clements is if we Franchise or transition him like TD did with Peerless. Not sure that will happen.

I also was in favor of hiring Sherman,

Smokin - I think that a lot of GMs are not willing to bring in a guy like Sherman who wants control over personnel decisions. It's kind of like hiring someone who thinks that they can do their job and your job and do it better than you. -
Man, when did so many douchebags start posting on this board?
-
WOW. I am not sure what to think but Saban showed that he was the real deal last year and I am sure that he knows what he is doing with this staff.
-
It really can't get any worse. We hit rock bottom last year and the team quit. Everyone on this board had high hopes and big expectations. In fact, we have been nothing but built up and let down over the last three years, with each season being seemingly more painful to watch. Like a lot of you on the board today, I have been extremely negative, and for good reason. At the same time, I don't have any high expectations for the upcoming season so I am less likely be let down. Will the losses hurt as much, of course they will. At the same time, maybe this team will suprise us. I have given up on setting expectations for this team and being let down, but I will always root for them no matter what. Go ahead and pile on and say "leave the board" or "root for another team" or whatever you want to say but this is my stance for now.

Not sure who Bill Bates is, but I'll take Jim Bates as a Def Coordinator. In fact, I'd take him as a head coach. Remember how hard the Dolphins played for him after Wandstadt was fired. A lot of the Dpolphins vets were calling for him to stay on as Head Coach.

I love that movie..."Major League"

If Marvelous wiffed this bad on a head coach
ACor58 replied to ACor58's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great quote from Peter King this morning regarding the Redskins.. By signing ex-Chiefs offensive coordinator Al Saunders, the choreographer of the league's highest-scoring offense over the last four years, owner Dan Snyder now has spent approximately $4.6 million on Saunders and defensive game-planner/play-caller Gregg Williams -- in 2006 salary alone. An outrageous sum? Not for a man whose team will rake in something like $325 million in 2006. Would you pay a small percent of your gross revenue for the men you believe are the best offensive and defensive play-callers in football? If you wouldn't, you're not trying to win at any cost. -
I think that Ralph has reached the point where he runs around One Bills Drive like Clark Griswold at the end of Christmas Vacation.

Runner, I will be the first to admit that I may be overreacting, but it is very tough to put a positive spin on these developments. And while you raise some good points, Stoops has championships and Ferentz, while a good coach, does not. -
Here is a thought. Was Juron even interviewed for the HC job in Detroit? We are hiring a guy that the freking Lions didn't even want.

Not sure where I said that I hated Juron. I think this was pointed more towards Marv and the front office. Of course you could just ignore it and not reply. Or you could post a douchebag "I'm better than everyone on this board reply" like you just did. -
This front office and team is like a freaking car accident right now. I can't turn my head away because I am waiting for the next horrible development. With the attitude and emotional status of the fans, the current personnel on our roster, and Juron's not so stellar reputation preceding him what makes Marv think this guy stands a chance. He is walking into a buzz saw. Modrak is a solid talent evaluator and that is encouraging, but Marv has the authority to overrule. We are screwed.

Offensive Coordinator Greg Olson
ACor58 replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This guy will basically be a 1st year coordinator since he took over when Mooch was fired. Great. I am fuggin psyched. What a joke. -
Without knowing all of the details, perhaps talks with Sherman brokedown over the weekend. Soprano seemed to be on point with his candidate list and he broke most of the info before the media did.

I am pretty sure that Wayne Fontes is dead. At the same time, I am not sure that having a pulse is part of the Bills search criteria.
-
I think I saw that same pile of crap up for bid on eBay.

Just Hire Sherman And Get It Over With - Please!

Every coach has a knock against them (except for maybe Belicheck.) Shanahan won two SB's in a row and people were calling for his head in Denver last year. Cowher hasn't won a Championship in 13 yrs. Holmgreen was on the chopping block prior to the season. Herm Edwards was not going to be welcomed back to the Jets. Tony Dungy's teams meltdown in the playoffs. I would still take anyone of these guys to coach the Bills and I would rather have Mike Sherman than any of our other options. -

I am not familiar enough with his moves as GM to comment. However, the loss of two offensive lineman through free agency, 4 starting running backs to injury, 1 pro bowl wide receiver to injury, and a Pro Bowl QB that had his worst season since his 1st year as a starter would be tough for any coach or GM to overcome. -

While these are all great points Baumer I think that you summed it up with #7. When was the last time a HC with a track record like his was fired after one losing season? I think that we wil all be disappointed if Ralph and Marv do not hire Sherman. -
Can't wait to see #85 torch Clements this weekend

Shayne Graham. He sucks. So glad that we cut him. Lindell is great.
