  1. The column you want to sort by using that chart is the first PCT. column... That will tell you what percentage of the seats are sold.

While the Bills are ahead of NE on average attendance, NE's attendance is 100%, while the Bills' is 94.5

Bills sell more seats because of ticket price and the fact that RWS capacity is bigger than Gillette Stadium.

    -Bill

Actually that's in-house attendance, not percentage sold. All four Bills home games so far have been sellouts. That will obviously change after this week.

  2. Geez, they hadn't even built the :censored: in' thing yet and it's like it already gets a $100M redesign....

From what I read, Al's passing put into motion the potential for a mad scramble to see which team moves to LA first. Apparently Al's son was more inclined to listen to the LA people than Al was, which could prompt the Chargers to move there first and stake out their territory. Would the league allow 2 teams from the same division, Chargers and Raiders, to play in L.A.? Stay tuned...

  3. Right.

And a city like New York wouldn't have it's teams playing in a neighboring city either.

The main knock against the deal now is the location of the stadium in downtown Tuhranna. No room for tailgating.

Putting the stadium closer to the border would definitely help draw some US fans across to the games.

Not to mention the lower property costs if the stadium is built somewhere other than downtown.

So the city of Toronto will build a stadium in Hamilton?

  4.

I still hope Toronto builds another stadium sometime though...maybe in Hamilton or something, to make it a tad more accessible for natives of the U.S.A.

More organized logistics on the part of many parties (such as train trips, customs arranged to facilitate large groups more effectively, etc.) could lead to a far more beneficial and enjoyable arrangement for all concerned.

I guarantee that Toronto will not build a stadium in Hamilton.

  5. A lake front stadium is the obvious location if you are moving away from OP.

I suggest they reclaim this area and build a stadium with lots of parking, a new major shopping complex, entertainment, rail links and dedicated access to I90. http://maps.google.ca/maps?q=42.819707,-78.857803&ll=42.81914,-78.862953&spn=0.033682,0.117245&num=1&vpsrc=6&t=m&z=14&iwloc=near

If they did this - think of the amazing TV views you could have of the downtown skyline (which is awesome). This area additionally could use some rejuvenation and a stadium complex might be the trigger.

Except nobody goes to a football game to look at the scenery. A lakefront stadium, domed or not, would be a colossal misuse of land better suited for recreational activities. Build something there that can be used more than 8-10 times a year.

  6.

It's nice to hold a concert in Jan. (country music, rock, or whatever venue) in the 18 thousand seat First Niagara Center, But a domed stadium could hold events 4 times + that size.

It's common sense to maximize potential returns and minimize as much as possible, the financial impact on taxpayers.

The days of stadium concerts are over. Performers prefer venues of 20K or less. Even in its heyday the Ralph/Rich didn't host that many concerts- the last one there was in 2001.

To all those saying you need a dome, exactly what other uses are you going to get out of it?

Concerts, monster trucks, wrestling? Any of these held at a dome would just take away from business for First Niagara Center.

Super Bowl? An extreme long shot.

Conventions? Maybe, but once again it would take away business from an existing venue. Although I've read that the convention center is undersized, would a stadium floor attract that many more conventions? I have my doubts.

Final Four/ NCAA regionals? Possible. Not going to rule it out, but attracting the Final Four would be almost as much a long shot as getting a Super Bowl. Plus, the FNC already gets NCAA subregionals semi-regularly.

UB football? UB seems unconcerned about upgrading its program, and would prefer to keep playing in its bare-bones stadium on campus.

I'd like to see a new stadium that can be used more than 8-10 times a year, but I'm having a hard time seeing other uses for it. Any stadium that is going to see use outside of Bills games needs to be in an urban center, either downtown Buffalo or Niagara Falls. Orchard Park just doesn't cut it.

  7. And beyond that it would behoove the Bills and the County to improve RWS with amenities that generate money, like a Bills HOF and/or restaurants, meeting spaces, and such. If you wanna play with the big boys you have to bring a bank roll.

    PTR

None of that will generate revenue with the stadium in Orchard Park. If the stadium was in downtown Buffalo (or Niagara Falls, perhaps), then you have a shot at making some money outside of game days.

The trade-off for having a stadium in the burbs with ample room for tailgating is that it will only be used 8-10 times per year.

  8. DUHHHHHH!! I was making the point how many folks were hot to sign Merriman when he was released from the Chargers. We want the Bills to sign every reject who used to be good, Merriman included.

    PTR

Duh. The point of Sullivan's column is that it was foolish to sign Merriman this year, not claim him off of waivers last year. Who was clamoring to sign him after he came up lame last year?

You said if the Bills didn't sign him this year that people would call Ralph cheap. Preposterous.

  9. If the Bills pass (on Merriman), WE ARE FREAKIN CRAZY

The Stadium Wall Archive search function is a wonderful thing. As for the question you asked about BB or Rexy, would I have laughed? Maybe. But everyone else here would be committing suicide over Buddy Nix "napping" while other AFC East teams steal talent.

    PTR

Those posts are dated October 18. The Bills claimed him on Nov. 3. Fifteen minutes into his first practice here he goes down.

Maybe you can use the search function and find some posts after Nov. 3 where people are freaking out that the Bills have to resign him for this season, because your previous search did nothing to prove your point.

  10.

From a business point of view, it's great way to generate extra revenue for your team. You don't just spend that much money and get nothing in return.

If the Ralph was downtown, then maybe you'd get that extra revenue. It's not. Very few people are going to make the drive to eat or drink or shop at a Bills themed sports bar just because it's connected to the stadium.
