Bills/Colts review from Indy
Robert Paulson replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
it looked like they were expecting JP to go deep every play. i don't remember one pass attempt over 15 yards and definately did not see them try a bomb. it was good to see JP read, choose, throw instead of holding it, holding it, holding it for the bomb- this makes protection easier also when the ball is out quickly i'll always wonder what kind of QB he would have been in a well planned offense like this appears to be- it definately suits Trent's strength and it appears JP can adapt into it that should mean good things for the team this year -

i know i took a chance listing areas that are concerns and/or need improvement maybe after 35+ years of watching football starting at 6 years old i still don't know anything but i did not see in T.E. what a lot of people on this board claim to see. he might be good or even great but is not a lock to be anything more than kelly holcomb the rose colored glasses trent is god people will be on me quickly for that for the record: i think j.p. got screwed and can still be a good Q.B. in this league, but barring some disaster w/ T.E. it won't be for the Bills. Team management has moved on -

there is certainly a 'you are either with us or against us' mentality among t.e.'s strongest supporters in reality he has not done much (besides not being j.p.) and people should really take this year to see what he can do because team management is behind him and he is the starter PLUSSES he played well for a rookie at times he took few negatve plays he found his 2nd/3rd receiver quickly for many on this board- he is not j.p. DELTAS he found his 2nd/3rd receiver too quickly sometimes he got worse in Q4 than the early quarters he got worse as the season progressed not withstanding the 12 page message string his arm strength still needs to be proven he needs to show he can play in the cold rain & snow -

exavtly- that line made emmit into the HOF back he wasn't touched till he was into the secondary half the time- any back they would have drafted would be in the HOF

i didn't see 19-0 so i settled on 11-5 and a division title followed by a super bowl victory

How Would A Bills Superbowl Win.....
Robert Paulson replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ditto -
you guys still don't get it it's the o line stupid example: emmit smith got to all those pro bowls because his o line opened up holes the width of driveways he wasn't touched til 5-6 yards past the line of scrimmage they did not win super bowls because of emmit but people talk about him like he walked on water the super bowls and emmit and the coke head receiver and gay cowboy troy were all products of that great o line any back could have hit the jackpot behind that line and emmit would have sucked on 28 other teams in the league at that time because he was nothing special fix the DT and/or MLB positon needs as first priority and get some young legs at RB at a cheaper price in round 2 or 3

1. There are few great Running Backs- most of a running game's success is directly related to the o-line. it is a also a position where the career is short. it does not make sense to draft high: this means the Bills will wait till Round 2 or 3 to draft a RB 2. Corner Back is not as important as Safety in the Cover 2. the corner is needed for run support and the short zone as does not need to be a 'lockdown' corner: no 1st round CB for the Bills 3. You need to be strong up the middle to play the cover 2. based on last year's dismal run defense the Bills need is at NT and MLB. is John McCargo ready- who knows. can Spikes come back-?: Marv's opinion on this dictates if we draft Okaye or Willis. Branch's poor work habits makes me think we will pass.

i gave him a B Tuesday -Saturday i give him a B+ to an A: the game plans look good, personnell is used correctly etc Game day i give him a C to C+: not that he was bumbling bad- just average on critical decisions like going for 1st downs, replay challenges, communication on decisions so plays get to the QB quickly etc. improvement in this area could be worth another 2 victories a year
