  1. I don't think anyone is saying he is a Pro Bowler. His salary shows what the league thinks of him. It is not a huge loss, but honestly he outplayed hyped up first rounder Kincaid and Pro Bowler Cooper by quite a large margin when it mattered,in KC. I can see why fans got a little attached to him. Other than Shakir, you could say nobody was really above jag level for us as far as receivers go. Mack outplayed his deal last year. I want the Bills to get better, but they have certainly wasted money on worse players than Hollins before. Not hugely upset with him leaving, but the WR room still looks iffy at the moment. Hopefully Palmer is not the best addition to the room.
  2. Not a draft guru, but do you think this guy is head and shoulders above , say a third or fourth rounder in the draft? I could be wrong, of course. It is not a deal that will break the team, but I don't see him being better than most other jags. Once again, I could be way off base here and he could provide great value. It would certainly surprise me if he did, but it would be a pleasant surprise.
  3. Seems like the kind of player they could get in the draft for less money. I don't know, I always hear about how these under the radar signings could be sneaky good, and they are usually flops. These signings seem insignificant until you look and see the team running out of cap space, like you said.
  4. He definitely showed up against KC in the playoffs. Great touchdown catch. Made a lot more plays during the season than I expected. I think I would not have minded bringing him back at that rate. You know what you are getting with him, at least.
  5. Players have shown over and over that winning is secondary to money. I am not criticizing them for it. Just saying, that's the reality of the situation. Browns are a dumpster fire. Good luck to them trying to win with no quarterback.
  6. That is to be determined. As a fan, I hope you are correct. Been a while since they acquired a real top shelf player.
  7. Beane has had some hits and and some misses. Epenesa amd Knox were definitely unnecessary overpays.
  8. Cincinnati had half of their starting offensive line out and still whipped Buffalo in the playoffs. Baltimore was missing their best receiver and didn't use that excuse after losing to Buffalo. Using injuries as an excuse is a losing mentality. Bringing up injuries as a reason for losing year after year is an excuse, whether some admit it or not. Either get the job done or figure a way to improve, period.
  9. My only gripe would be that maybe 1st round is high for him since he is basically a run stuffer with limited pass rush ability. Maybe I am totally off on that evaluation. He would not be the worst pick for sure, but feels like a reach to me. If it was a choice between him or an undersized edge, I would rather have him.
  10. I tend to agree with your overall points. Especially the last paragraph. I think finding another WR is important to give Josh someone to throw to on the boundary, so we don't need to grind out three and four yards at a time and need to convert fourth downs all game. Don't think it has to be a 30 million dollar WR. Would love a guy like Metcalf but his price is likely too high. Just disappointed in Kincaid. Nobody other than Cook really made a play for Allen. Overall, the defense needs to make things tougher on opposing offenses in the playoffs. That is indisputable, imo.
  11. Grant, but I don't think he will still be there. He's a guy I would love the team to pick up if available. If not, one of the next highest rated defensive tackles would likely suffice. If Revel Jr is there, perhaps him.
  12. A pass to Shakir on that fourth down was not a sure first down at all. That is a false assumption. There were a lot of yards to pick up and KC defenders ready to go after him if the ball went that way.
  13. Don't know what the perfect answer at WR is, but I think paying Shakir 20 million a year seems insane to me.
  14. I like that idea. Only thing is whether Cook may hold out rather than risk injury for another year or two before securing the money he wants.
  15. I don't think it's that far fetched. Hope he has more like 8 to 10 top years left, but not everyone can be elite in their mid to late thirties. I agree with the idea of the team going all in for the next five or six years. You can't just assume Allen's health is a guarantee and you can't assume he will be elite at 36 or older. You can hope, but maximizing the resources while he is the middle of his prime is the way to go, I think. That does not mean trading all your draft picks, but it means void years on contracts and trading some premium picks for top talent if need be. Having said that, Allen is a freak and it would not shock me for him to be a top five QB into his late thirties.
