  1. I don't think you'll find that post because Al Gore had not yet invented Two Bills Drive.
  2. the words "great" and "bledsoe" should never be mentioned in the same sentence.
  3. Dude your talking one game. How bout if I say the magic word "New England". I mean clearly Drew was exposed. All you Drew koolaid Drinkers, now that the tough part of the Bills schedule is behind them and now they're playing the sub .500 teams you're totally ignoring the fact that when Drew was challenged playing > .500 teams he sucked, and as a result, so did the rest of the offense. Now that he's playing teams at his own level or below, somehow he's Johnny U. reincarnated and we better get his HOF bust ready. Way too much koolaid my friend.... way way too much.
  4. Like I said in post below... we ain't gonna agree. You still don't get it. Drew's shortcomings make the cast around him look worse than they are. Put someone in that shows some energy, spunk, and mobility... geez, what a surprise, everyone around you is playing better than they normally do and they don't look as bad as before. Take Magic away from the Lakers... no ring, take jordan from the bulls, no ring, Take bird away from the Celts... no ring. Somehow they just make their teams better. Those guys were not only leaders by example, they also were firey and got in people's faces when they needed to. Drew can't do that cause he doesn't have the "game" to back it up. JP??? yeah, he's green... I ain't saying make the switch Sunday. I am saying play him here a little and there a little and at the end of the season sit Drew down and tell him he's going to the pasture... JP will be the starter in 2005
  5. I think I know what you mean... but, are you positive that this guy wasn't Jimmy Johnson? Your description and behavior would fit Jimmy to the tee.
  6. #1, you've got to comitt to throwing to the TE. If you do, then, well... where do you find one? Antonio Gates is an aberation. Shockey, Gonzalez, and Heap aren't going anywhere soon, and there ain't a college TE out there that's going to come right in and do a better job than Campbell or Euhus. How about this... we stop coddling Drew with this elusive dream lineup, dream TE, etc and put a QB in there that perhaps cam roll right, roll left, move in a floating pocket right and left. Bail when he's in trouble and throw on the run, if necessary. Do you think that would be just as effective... and maybe more effective?
  7. I don't think you and me are on the same page to have agreement on this. My expectation from Drew Bledsoe, with his salary and hype is not Peyton Manning nor Donavan McNabb. I don't expect greatness, but I don't expect barely adequate either. I expect somewhere in the line of Brett Favre-Tom Brady-Steve McNair... a QB that with 2:00 minutes left in the game and your team down by 4 you can put the ball and game in his hands and get the touchdown you need... Drew can't do that... he'll screw that up before any of his teamates do. An offense has little or no margin for error with him at the controls. He's not instinctive nor can he improvise... certainly not the trademark of a QB with his experience and pedigree. So, 6 turnovers (#7 Pat took to the house) and two TDs to show for is not exactly lighting it up or "torching". Drew's TD tosses came on drives of 41, 78, 69, 34 yards... The 78 and 69 being on drives after punts. The 41, 34 being on turnover set ups. And Drew moved the ball a whopping 6 yards after TKO's pick to set Lindell up for yet another failure... a FG longer than 35 yards. Drew should help his team out more... he has to know Lindell's "sweet spot" is when you advance the ball to the 15 or deeper. My definition of Torching is let the D bring 8-9 up... everytime you do, it's going to be 25 yards minimum each time. And if the defense gives you 6 turnovers, I'm gonna give you points on 2/3 of them. Our expectations are very different so, we aren't going to agree.
  8. Some make sure that the bills offense gets this memo... 6 turnovers giftwrapped for the offense... yield = 2 touchdowns.
  9. This stat is basically an, oh, BTW... It's meaningless.... period Someone was comparing this team to the early 90's. To that, I say, puhleeze... don't go there. The Bills of the 90's wore a target on them... they were the team to beat... When they came to town... you brought your "A" game... and even if you did, you were still gonna lose. Not too many teams have that kind of respect for today's Bills... defenses still play 8 and 9 man fronts because they have no respect for the passing attack (or lack thereof), and still, we can't make them pay for that. A 32 or 33 year old Jim Kelly would have lit up a defense up that pulled that kind of stunt. Today's Bills can't be mentioned in the same breath.
  10. I think Marty Schottenheimer deserves this award. No coach in the NFC deserves it. Meanwhile, Belechik's machine just keeps rolling along.
  11. If that makes you feel better, well, OK. However, I just checked the standings, and, unless it's a typo, we are what we are... and that is 6-6. If "ifs and buts" were candy and nuts, every day would be Christmas. So, the Bills have the record they deserve. Alas... if they run the table they will be 10-6 and I guarantee them a wildcard spot. They win out and they're in... and they would likely go west to SanDiego.
  12. Please allow me to re-phrase and hopefully clarify... I should have stated the following... So, let there be no confusion as to where I stand on Bledsoe. He is not a good QB, the Bills won't, can't, zero, nada, No, No No go deep into the playoffs with him as their starting QB. He has, however won me over that he is a serviceable vetern backup QB. Three weeks ago I would not even have wanted him on the roster. Say what you will... that's my opinion
  13. First off... I was pissed at this game... even though the Bills pulled it off. Maybe it's because they played the despised Dolphins and I expected more from the Bills, especially when you consider the Dolphins record. Anyway... putting this game in perspective, it had all the elements of a Dolphins upset. 2-10 vs. a streaking Bills team. Also, since no team plays mano y mano straight up... everything is predicated on schemes, matchups, & tendencies, this presents a problem because, with the coaching change in Miami only in it's 3rd game, they've done enough subtle tweaking in their offense/defense that the Bills and other teams haven't zeroed in on yet, and this is enough to give the Bills and other Dolphins opponents some problems. Trust me, the Dolphins are going to pull off an upset win on someone over the next few weeks... they've got nothing to lose. Yeah... I thought the Bills offense was pathetic... managing only 14 points off 6 turnovers that were given to them (the 7th, thankfully, Fat Pat took it upon himself) and only two real scoring drives besides that. However, the Dolphins offense managed 4 TD drives... the 76 and 63 yd. drives should have humbled the Bills much ballyhooed defense. The two others were 40 and 31 yard drives set up because the Bills could not win the field position game early in this contest. All in all, I took a few things away from this game... 1) As Bledsoe's number 1 Blaster, I will say... aside from him taking two sacks that were typically Drew (dumb and unnecessary), he played a good game and proved to me that if the Bills have the same system & coaches next year plus some additional help on the Oline, Bledsoe could be a serviceable backup. He ain't the answer at QB and the Bills won't ever go deep into the playoffs with him as the starter. Let's not go overboard here on his performance yesterday... this was against a Dolphins defense that is 29th in the league against the run...and the Dolphins defense was stacked to play the run... they were very concious that the Hometown boy McGahee was in the house. Bledsoe should have torched the Fins... for sure a good QB would have. 2) The defense struggled... plain and simple. I don't know why Bannan was inactive. Either he was injured or the Bills staff wanted to give Tim Johnson some time. In any case, in the Miami heat I would think you would want to bring your top 4 DTs to the dance... maybe it's an indication that they took the Fins lightly. 3) This win is huge... not just in terms of the victory itself. This is a game that the entire team can all take the blame for playing badly as well as taking well deserved credit for digging themselves back out the hole. This game brought the team even closer together... they found a way to win... and good teams usually do that. 4) The last thing I took from this game is that Lindell shouldn't have even been allowed to fly home with the team. If Mularkey, Donahoe, Modrak don't have at least 3 kickers in for a visit this week then they're either stupid or in denial. Lindell has already cost the Bills games and he's going to cost them a big one when it comes down to a field goal... he simply cannot be trusted outside of 35 yards.
  14. Wanny? Done Davis? Done Who else is done? Haslett? For sure... you don't even need to stick a fork in him. Erickson? This experiment has got to be over. Holmgren? I know Paul Allen's got $$$, but he could pay a coach 10% as much as Holmgren and get the same results. When does Allen cut his losses and move on? Gruden? Are you serious? $5M/yr. for what? Martz? You tell me. Tuna? Will this season do him in and cause him to quit, or will Jerry usher him out the door? Anyone else on thin ice?
  15. The Bills are ranked #3 in D without Vincent. He's irrelevent... he can stay on the injured list as long as he wants. In 11 seasons, he's only played 4 full ones. So, why would I, or anyone else, expect that he's going to play more than half or two thirds of a season? To sign him to a big contract was stupid... all along the Bills could have lived with McGee. Now, if Vincent comes back and gets 5 picks and locks down his receiver... then I might change my tune. But, I think he's basically an average corner with a liltte more experience than others. I don't even think he's as good as Winfield.
  16. perhaps you've grown up too. I think it was Bill O'Reilly that gave a profile of 90% of Stern's audience... not a flattering description.
  17. No, no, no. You got it all wrong. THE BILLS, AND ONLY THE BILLS, WILL DECIDE THEIR FATE. Either the Bills "Bring it" these last 5 games or they schedule their "tee times". They must decide between the two... "playoffs" or "tee times".? Which do they want more? This is what it comes down to.
  18. No one's talked much about this lately. Many posters were welcoming a trade that would bring Hovan to Buffalo before the trade deadline. Well, his play has declined so much that Ted Cotrell benched him last week... "benched", as in "healthy" and "inactive". And, Hovan might be inactive for the rest of the season unless one of the Vikes DL go down with an injury. How's that for going from boom to bust?
  19. Why would they do that? IR means that the player is finished for the season, unless the team reaches an injury settlement with the player and then he becomes a free agent. The player would not be able to re-sign with the team that released him for 8 weeks, but is free to sign with any other team immediately. The Pats abide by NFL rules regarding injuries. People have problems with the Pats because they don't give out specific details regarding injuries. When a player is on their injury report they say "leg" and "questionable" rather than "Knee strain" and "probable". So what?
  20. This is exactly how the "master", Bill Belechick, handles his injury report. IMHO, I think it's great. When you think about it, it really doesn't matter what the injury is. The injured player will be back when he's back and not a game sooner. Typically, when a player gets injured, the team will state the injury and then either the team, media, or fans set this "timetable" for the injued player to be out with the specified injury... ie, 4-6 weeks, etc. When the player doesn't return within that timetable, automatically that player is labled by the fans and/or media as a "whimp", "milking it", "selfish", or whatever... and that's exactly how many posters on this board have treated the Troy Vincent absence. In the case of JP... almost all of us had his recovery timetable marked on the calendar and many of us tried to predict his debut off of that. So, I think if the coaches should just state that the player is injured and he'll be back when he's back and that should suffice. Play with the players you've got and play the team that's on your schedule and, as a fan, don't B word about your team having injuries and/or having a tough schedule.
  21. Because that's the absolute best you can expect from Bledsoe... ever. Bledsoe is not the reason the Bills are winning... they're winning despite him... a 3 int to 1 touchdown performance is stevestojan. and I believe his overall TD/INT this year are about even steven... he's just careless and stupid with the football. Everytime I'm watching the Bills play, I damn near sh-- my pants when he drops back. You never know what might happen. Look at Cincy... Kitna played lights out last season and then got the job taken away from him as his reward. Bledsoe ain't playing anywhere near like Kitna was last year... and he deserves to be removed. that should be his just reward.
  22. Oh, I'm pretty sure they will exceed your expectations... we're talking $$$ here... and these guys have no conscience. You'll be looking at $300 bill in the not too distant future.
  23. ok dude... it aint that complicated... Fiedler was their #1 but he's injured and won't play. Their # 3 Sage Rosenfels was a high pick by the Redskins a few years back but was traded to Miami 3 years ago in hopes that he would eventually be a starter... or, at worst, be a competent backup... neither has happened. Ok... their #2 now is A.J. Feely... who was the QB that preceded Akili Smith at Oregon or Oregon State. He was in Philly for a few years and won a few games as Philly's #1 QB while McNabb & Detmer were nursing injuries. Feely was traded by Philly to the Fins with the hopes that he would supplant Fiedler as their starter. Well, Feely couldn't unseat Fiedler as the starter but now that Feidler is hurt he is their QB by default. Oh, and that slap on the posterior that Feely took from a Fin DE a few weeks ago that made Feely wince and jump in pain....well, that was because his arse was sore to begin with from the ass kicking he'd been taking from the porous Fin OL... he literally had bruised ass cheeks. Now you know the whole story.
  24. dude... 3 hours north of miami would put you out of the "blackout zone"... typically, I believe, a 75 or 90 mile radius of the stadium. now, this is not to say a station 3 hours north of miami would televise the game... I mean, the dolphins suck and in florida there's got to be a lot of better things to do than be reminded of how bad they suck and how bad they're gonna get their ass kicked.
