Don't be bitter Dan, and the rest of you guys, too. You know you wanted to say what I said,,, just didn't have the guts to. Probably afraid that all of the other posters were gonna beat up on you. Pity. I realize that after overdosing on the koolaid and covering your eyes with pink sunglasses it's just tough to admit that this is a really bad team that we've been supporting. One that just goes through the motions... no passion, no sense of pride. I don't expect you guys to stop licking TD's shoes, I don't expect you not to purchase the new Bills pleated skirts when TD unveils them in the offseason, and I don't expect calling the team out is going to stir up a fire in their bellies, or give the team a spine anytime soon. But calling a spade a spade sure makes me feel better... even if you take offense. Perhaps you should consider directing your anger toward the team, the root of the evil, rather than me.... For all I bring to the table is truth and tough love.

In a nutshell, this team can best be described as "soft" ( kind of a nicer way of stating it). Defensively, you have basically 3 players with any semblance of fire in their respective bellies (TKO, Milloy, and Fletch). The rest of the defense seems to have to feed off their passion to get any decent production. Offensively, this team is a collection of sissies. Has anyone seen any evidence of physicality, smashmouth attitude, leadership on this side of the ball? We've got a supposed best back in the league, physical runner, who prefers to do the charleston rather deliver the the wood as of late. Lee Evans is, or has become, such a kitty on running plays and prefers to hold onto an opponent (probably to protect himself from further contact) rather than to plant a defender like a good blocking wr should. Then we have an offensive line that shows absolutely no fire or angst. When was the last time you saw an offensive lineman in a fight with a defender, take it personal when their QB got mauled, or came off the field spewing venom? Not since Ross Tucker and Ruben Brown were here.... oops, players that were perhaps a little more outspoken than the lemmings TD and MM prefer to employ. But, ultimately, the "softness" is a result of a GM and coach that don't demonstrate toughness, passion, pride, or moxie. This team is not reflective of leadership that oozes confidence or passion and pride in the work they do. Simply put, this team has no spine!!! Perhaps this team needs to be outfitted again with new uniforms, complete with pleated skirts. When are we gonna see some real football, guys????

Let me "axe" all of you guys a question. Is there a dime's difference between Teflon Tom and Matt Millen? I mean... perhaps TD has five more wins. But, both whiffed on 2 coaches each, QB (Harrington/Bledsoe), and offensive linemen. The bottom line is both teams are in, what seems to be, a constant rebuilding cycle. Neither of these two GMs seem to have a clear path forward. Millen jumped at the chance to hire Marriucci.... so quick as to get Jessie Jackson's shorts in a knot by them not interviewing a black candidate first. TD hires a rookie, then after 3 seasons fires him, only to hire another rookie HC that was going to be fired by his HC anyway. What really pisses me off is that neither GM seems to think they are culpable for the messes that each team is in. Both seem to enjoy micro-managing and contoling every last detail. As far as I'm concerned... the GM is nearly irrelevant. Their primary responsiblity should be simply to manage the business. The head coach, in my opinion, is the single most important person that a team can have if an owner cares about wins and losses. I believe the coach should have total control over personnel aquisition and decisions. The GM and the scouting staffs should be at the coach's beck and call. That's why Belechick is successful... he tells Pioli what type of player he's looking for and Pioli delivers the goods.

I don't know what the drill is. But, I find it hard to believe that a veteran, not hanging around on the sidelines to mentor his teammates and offer moral support during a home game simply because he's inactive shows a lack of committment to the team. It actually demonstrates contempt. If the coach had any balls whatsoever, at the very least, Sam should be "Keyshawned". Sent home and told that he's inactive for the rest of the year. At some point, the HC has to make a statement to not only Sam Adams, but his team. Mike Williams should be next, but at least he keeps his mouth shut... that's about it.

The best back in football say you? Not by a long shot... perhaps in the AFC "Least" you may be. Get a clue Willis. Watch Ladanian Thomlinson. He took over the game yesterday. Tied the game in regulation and then sealed the deal with a long run... something that you, Mr. McGahee, only do in your wildest dreams. The fans are still waiting for you to "pony up", Willis. Last I looked, less than 10 yards separate you from being 10th in rushing yards. Best back say you? Let's not mention your reception numbers, which would be a total embarassment for a #1 back.... or your willingness to give up your QB when you happen to be in on a pass play. That says a lot right there. I can't wait til next summer when you hold out. That will probably be the only drama you provide for the fans. In the process, I would not shed one tear if you lost your job... hopefully to a rookie free agent. Don't say a word Willis, just STF up and show us. We, the fans, will decide whether you are the best, not you.

On the play that MW was injured on today, he simply got blown up. It was a running play and whoever it was that lined up across from him pushed him 2 yards backwards. Now, Mike's future (or lack thereof) If you are the Bills, you have 3 options... * hold onto him * outright cut him * offer him a massive pay cut to stay. I see it coming down to the latter 2 If you are Mike, and you are offered a paycut or getting cut, what do you do? If he takes a paycut to around the $1.8-2M level, at least he's employed at a fairly decent salary for the bum of a player he is. But, even that doesn't save him from ultimately being cut by the Bills. If he gets cut, what team is going to pay this guy even $1.5M/year? And, whatever team does sign him, how many incentives and escape clauses is the team going to work into the contract? This guy is a gifted athlete for his size, but he is the Benoit Benjamin of the NFL... an absolute disgrace and slap in the face to any player that has proudly played and performed to their potential in the NFL.

Can someone please dispatch the Red Cross to One Bills Drive... they could use a little disaster relief... and maybe some of us fans too.

1) JP is far from the problem... and he might be part of the answer. 2) Willis ain't the best back in the NFL (not even close) 3) Our defense is really bad... did SD really roll up close to 500 yds.? 4) the entire team looks slower and seems to have less stamina than I remember seeing a year ago (I want Rusty Jones back) 5) The offensive line can play bad even without Mike Williams 6) Sam Adams needs gastric bypass surgery. 7) Rian Lindell is a fair weather kicker... he needs to find a home with a dome. 8) Where would this team be without Eric Moulds? (answer, still 4-6). He aint the problem. 9) Coy Wire was inactive ( no, really) 10) There can't be a team on this planet considering Jerry Gray as their next HC... unless perhaps the Spanish National Bullfighter team. 11) There's not a detergent yet invented that can clean the grass and chalk stains off the ass of Trey Teague's uniform. 12) I should have raked leaves today.

Come on Dan, I thought you were better than that. Let's be fair here. Try to be objective. Don't get hung up on the messengers and your persoanl differences with said messengers. Concentrate on the issues, please. Mike Williams is a physically gifted athlete, regardless of his size... would you agree or disagree to that? If you disagree, then the argument is over and I can't fathom why anyone would use a #4 pick on him. However, if you agree that he is physically gifted, then there are really only two possibilities regarding Mike's failure to play up to his salary, because we know he has intelligence and he artculates fairly well. Either he's hurt, or he just does not have the passion to play the game on this level that one needs to have. If there's something else I'm missing... please chime in and bring those other possibilities forward. Now... let's examine possibility number one... he's hurt Why would the team take an injured player and... 1) move him to a position he's never played? 2) start him ahead of a player who has logged significant NFL starts at that position and in the process leave Mike's more important RT starting position in the hands of a player that has never started an NFL game at that position? If he's hurt, he's hurt... and he just doesn't play. Now let's examine the lack of passion for the game issue. 1) There are enough stories swrling around in the media out there that say he doesn't have the mental toughness (passion) to play this game. OK, the media stories alone are not reason enough to make this true. Media is media and they aren't always right and not always wrong. But, they do have stories to write and news to sell... so they can get over zealous. But, in all fairness, where there is smoke there is usually some fire... I said some. So, I believe worst case scenario, there is some truth to what the media has reported... based on their sources. 2)Just evaluate Mike's play. He has showed a lot of potential at times, played well, at times. But he's also become "high maintenance". The issue in training camp a year ago in which a #4 pick.... expected to not only fulfill and and solidify a RT position as well as a leadership role on this team comes to camp at over 400 lbs., out of shape, loses his starting position, then gets fined for missing practices, and then has to coddled because there was some depression or some component of depression that he was experiencing, is not a good way for him to demonstrate committment to the role he is expected to play. Mind you, his replacement, Marcus Price, who many feel out performed Mike, is no longer in the NFL, and there are plenty of NFL teams that could use a competent tackle right now (the Patriots, Jets, and Cards to mention a few). When you add everything up and then add up what the Bills have paid out to this guy over the past 3.5 seasons and then look back and add up his accomplishments, something doesn't seem right, would you agree? I'd like to know what your officail "spin" on Mike is. Do the Bills keep him at $7m next year. If so, why, if not, why? and If so, what position does he play?

Fair analysis Sunny. However, if GW wasn't the "smoking gun", Teflon Tom's next decision after letting GW go, was. I've tried to rationalize this but can't. Why would a GM, after hiring a rookie coach and giving the team a total makeover for those three years, hire another rookie coach? Here you have a situation in which you've re-built your team and are now going to entrust your hard work to a rookie coach, who is, sure as hell, going to have his own learning curve and want to tweak things too. If you're going to fire a coach after 3 seasons of rebuilding, I would have thought that you'd want to bring in someone who has HC experience. Some say, TD is a power/control freak that can't handle a HC that would be able to upstage him or show more FB knowledge than him. A coach that he can basically control and micro manage when he sees fit. Others say Ralph wasn't about to spend $3-4M on a HC. I seriously doubt that, because, TD, who 5 years ago was recognized as one of the pre-emininant football GM Gods, could have had a job with at least 4 other teams that had him on the radar. When you're held in that high of regard and Ralph is offering you the GM and VP positions with total control, you don't take that job if it has strings attached or limitations that can ultimately scar a very good reputation. At that point, TD could not afford failure. TD saw an opportunity to put his own signature on a SB team that he built himself. I don't blame Ralph for hiring him at the time because he had very impressive credentials. However, after 4.5 seasons and only 30 wins and no playoffs... not to mention an unsettled situation at QB, he has proven to not be the answer to bringing the Bills a SB. I will state that under his management the Bills are a much more profitable team than they've ever been.. however, a lot of credit has to go to Russ Brandon, as well.

You provide a good snapshot of how this state has gone into an economic freefall. NYS, in general, is a total mess that it will not get out of in my lifetime. We pay more intaxes than any other state. The tax burden on every man, woman and child is damn near $4600 a pop. We pay an average of almost 12 cents per kilawatt hour for electricity... 2nd highest in the country, right behind Hawaii. The national average is 8 cents/kw hour. Over the past 5 years, NYS weighs in at nearly a 12% economic growth rate. The rest of the country showed a 21% growth rate over the same period. And, NYS has the finest welfare benefits that a taxpayers dollar can buy. Workers Compensation insurance is the highest in the country in NYS, two and three times more than in other states. Insurance, in general, is higher than in most states. NYS is almost immediately eliminated when it comes to International companies wanting to move in because of the high cost of doing business. When a company looks at the taxation, cost of electricity, and WC insurance, it's a no brainer. Avoid NYS, period. Even companies that have been located in this state for a long period can't get in on any federal gov't. contracts, unless they've got something else that can't be gotten elsewhere, because they can't compete with companies outside of NYS due to the high cost of doing business in this state. We have the world's laziest and most corrupt politicians... and I'm not being partisan. Jim Bruno, Sheldon Silver, UpChuck Schumer, Shillary Clinton, are just a few of the names that stand out... there are plenty more, believe me... on both sides of the aisle... Red or Blue, it just doesn't seem to matter... they're all scumbags. I've lived my whole life in this state. But it sucks to live here anymore. I've got another 5 to 8 to go before I get the "F" out of here... and I can't wait. It will be sweet to be on your end... visiting NYS rather than living in this welfare sesspool.

Whoa Nellie.... If Malarkey is now calling the plays, it would seem logical that it's an indictment being handed down on the OC. But wait just a minute. If that's the case, what the hell is Sam Wyche jibber-jabbering about up in the spotters booth, and to whom is he doing the jibber-jabbering to. I woulda thunk that Sam is setting the table for the OC and telling him what he's seeing. If that's the case, doesn't that dictate what the play calls will be based on the game plan that was drawn up, and doesn't Malarkey sign off on the game plan as well as the entire offensive design? I remember Jim Fassel taking over the play calling from Sean Peyton when he was with the Giants just a few seasons ago. He didn't end up firing him though and eventually Fassel was fired and Peyton ended up calling the plays for Bill Parcells in Dallas, as well as being a finalist for the Al Davis concierge derby, which, of course he turned down. Meanwhile Fassel was on the the Ravens as QB coach and then this year promoted to OC. Well, Fassel aint doing so hot and there's a good chance his HC and most of the staff is going to be getting a one way ticket out of Crabcakeville at the season's end. So, from my perspective, in this case, I've got to suspect that Malarkey has some culpability here too... and a lot.

Sorry Dan, arguing with your professor is not going to get you a "C" for your semester grade... especially when you missed required reading from another professor post or two. If it were closer to Christmas I might show a little more love. Of course Willis is in on 3rd and 4th down...primarily in short yardage situations. But rarely when the offense is looking to pass. Everyone knows that, silly.
