At the end of the day McDermott just doesn't have any excuses to be terrible on his side of the ball in the playoffs. Even if a couple guys get banged up and you need to play young guys etc. KC had a couple injuries in the secondary vs Cincinnati in the afc championship and literally had all rookies in the secondary playing if I'm not mistaken. They still were solid ( not great) and held the Bengals to 20 points. Like I don't need McDermott to be great on defense. Just don't be a horror show. Don't give up ten frickin yds per play. Don't be afraid to play a couple young guys with more athletic ability if a vet is banged up. Elam and Williams should've played vs KC in the playoffs last year Again, I feel like my expectations are completely reasonable. 20-24 pts given up on defense. Force them to punt more than once lol. McDermott cannot be so bad on defense that he only forces 6 punts in the past 4 elimination games. That's completely absurd We have enough key backups where he doesn't have the injury excuses

Fire McD and Hire Belichek after we lose AGAIN in the playoffs

I mean they were really good vs the dolphins in week 2. Really good vs KC. Really good vs the cards in the second half Really good vs the 49ers with Purdy. I agree that the defense is not great. It's a good defense. You can win a super bowl with that -

If the defense has a game in the playoffs like they did vs the rams, it's going to be very very tough for me or anyone to justify keeping McDermott. The amount of anger and frustration will be too much to keep him. At that point he is destroying Allen's legacy and enough is enough. All we're asking for is adequate level defense in the playoffs. Like can you hold the other team to 24 pts... Can you not allow 10 yards per play??? So no argument from me if that happens. I do think he's going to pull through in the playoffs and the defense will be solid -
Yeah that one stings. Obviously getting Benford offset it. So if Elam can be a good number 2, I'll be happy I personally think McDuffie is the best CB in the NFL. I love his game

The root source of D problems is the D Line

The biggest reason I'm more confident about the rams game? We won the game 42-37 if you don't count the punt block. And we lost time of possession. We had the ball for 21 minutes and won 42-37 ( offense against offense) That's completely insane. The 21 rams got blown out by the cards and then blew the cards out in the playoffs The 90 bills got blown out by Miami. Then blew Miami out twice basically. -

KC has meh ots. Their interior is blue chip Lots of guys were injured vs the ravens. But I'll grant you the ravens. The rams avg 3.3 ypc. It was maybe Staffords top 3 all time performance on 3rd down along with ridiculous catches. You're taking maybe Staffords best game ever ( it may have been) and using it as a data point of a trend rather than a outlier... But I understand your concerns. The bills are not without a few concerns. But every contender has that No they didn't... 3.3 ypc vs the rams Injured vs the ravens The colts had one big run. Taylor was shut down in the second half. We were also up 30-13 with 3 min left and we were playing with some backups Dolphins game a month ago, I'll agree. The Cardinals had 3 points on offense in the second half. Murray had like 70 total yds in the second half. A kick return put them back in it ... We went on a 31-3 run in the cards game after they were up 17-3. Plus it was opening day. Opening day is always weird usually -

An absolute disaster by the coaches at the end of this game

It's not a 100% guarantee of anything. But it's much more likely if Allen plays to his level, we'll be fine. It's such a slim chance to repeat a 13 seconds issue. That's why it's null and void. We don't need " everything to break right" It absolutely is a high percentage that the bills win the super bowl based on the competition, us having Allen and all the data points like dvoa, point differential, and being healthy We disagree on how good the bills are. I think they're a great team. You think they're good. -
If you watch the all 22 he was awesome. But I'm concerned a little that he has disappeared for large parts of this year. I'm almost certain he was dealing with an injury earlier in the year. I don't agree with that at all
-
He's kinda like James Williams honestly from the Early 90s bills teams. First Rd pick with flashes but never materialized into a number one cb

Bills sack mahomes.... I understand your concerns. I was pissed off at McDermott and wanted him fired after 13 seconds. Truth is he's a great leader, highly respected and it's probably too difficult to improve on him as a HC. I've accepted his flaws as a HC and don't think it will matter with Allen at QB. I still think they are the best team in the NFL this year.

Josh Allen, most total TD's in first 8 seasons.
Kelly to Allen replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in The Stadium Wall
When Allen wins MVP and beats mahomes in the playoffs and then wins super bowl MVP. I don't think it's hyperbole to say he's already top ten all time When it's all said and done, I think mahomes and Allen are going to go down as the greatest QB rivalry in NFL history and both will be top 5 all time. Mahomes most likely being the greatest QB that's ever lived and Allen being somewhere in the top 5 -
I think Elam is going to steal the starting job. Jmo Milano will be himself by January
-
We disagree on a few points. But overall solid points I agree that there is no jamar chase or micah Parsons on the team around Josh. At the same time I think we're overreacting a bit to an all time performance by another Hof adjacent QB in Stafford. Greg Rousseau has been dominant this year. Von Miller has been really good this year and I have full faith playoff von Miller will be ready. Why? Because I've seen it this year Oliver in that KC game this year was the most explosive 3tech I've seen in the NFL. He disappeared for lots of the year. I speculate he is dealing with something and pacing himself. Again we've earned that right to rest guys now and pace ourselves. I have zero doubt they're going to take it up to level ten in the playoffs and destroy everyone. Decades of watching football tells me that I understand the feeling of angst. We've been really close and Allen has had all time performances wasted. This game reminded a lot of people of the 13 seconds game etc ... I get it

The buffalo dline was elite vs KC. Again ppl are being the prisoner of the moment... -
I understand ppl use that example but it makes little sense As soon as Andy Reid got a hof qb in mahomes he won and went to multiple super bowls He helped mcnabb who is Hof adjacent get to like 4 conferences championship games and one super bowl Buffalo played one of its worst defensive games in years and they still almost won in a shootout without 2 skill starters on offense It's as close as it gets to a legitimate Superbowl team. They were the fastest to clinching a division in 15 years. Does the division suck, yeah. It's still very impressive Their srs is 2nd in the NFL 3rd in overall dvoa Their point differential is second behind Detroit They are the only team to beat KC , again without multiple starters It's irrational to doubt them as a top 3 or so blue chip contender
-
If we play the Bengals I think we would handle them. But if burrow is hot that can't be ignored. He's the 2nd or 3rd best QB in the NFL and I love his game. Chase and Higgins can take over a game
-
He was absolutely elite vs KC. So idk. He obviously has the talent Very interesting to see how this dline does vs an outstanding lions oline
-
I speculate Hyde is hear to avoid a situation we had at linebacker last year. If we have a injury at safety he's the insurance policy But who knows maybe he's starting in the playoffs.
-
It's a tough loss but it's terrifying for other teams. It's why I keep predicting we are going to blow ppl out in the playoffs or at the very least be way too much on offense for other teams Outside special teams Allen led the bills on the road to 42 pts in 21 min with two starters out on offense. That's with two drives right before and after halftime going 3 and out. Again that is terrifying for other AFC contenders Yeah ppl can call me a homer, I frickin love our chances Good luck to whoever we play in the playoffs

Because in years prior the defense was up to the level needed vs KC in the regular season but injury was a major reason that didn't repeat in the playoffs... Is that optimistic? Yes But I'm sorry, I love our chances with this version of the team and also think some of the concern about game management or some defensive vulnerability is null and void because Josh Allen will simply be too much for other teams. -
I think this can't be said enough. Yes the team and especially defense was kinda flat. The intensity was different compared to the KC game. But already having the division wrapped up. It was always going to be a weird head space to play in for 5-6 weeks with nothing of real consequence It's the fastest a team has won a division in 15 years. They are going to rest anyone that is even a little banged up. And we have earned that right.
