The Chiefs are always one step ahead of the Bills...
Kelly to Allen replied to Awwufelloff's topic in The Stadium Wall
When Allen threw that TD to tie it 29-29 to Samuel on 4th FRICKIN down. I honestly was in awe... He's so frickin great. A truly all time great QB. -
Some thoughts on why we can't get over the hump

This regime is the Warren Moon oilers. Awesome team, scored lots of points. Lots of accomplishment They weren't a championship regime. Same could be said about the Knicks or Utah jazz but they at least got to the championship. There is a strong demarcation between the bills level and KC. It goes beyond just this game and the gulf is wider than this singular moment. It's many moments together and they're just not good enough. Allen is a hof qb tho and isn't even 30 yet so there is tangible substantive hope for a world championship -

Another reason among many that's it's time to move on from this regime -

Because in life you have to try. Maybe someone is from a tough background, maybe they got burned in a bad marriage but you've to keep trying. This chapter is closed in my opinion and I think it's just time to move on and start a new story around Allen. This is kinda more serious than sports but when I was still drinking, I would keep going to the bar not out of enjoyment but because I didn't want to let go of that part of my life. I knew I had to stop but I didn't want to let go. Eventually it took severe anxiety from alcohol withdrawal and I finally moved on. This regime is living under the umbrella of 13 seconds and I just think it's time to move on. -

The difference between the Warren Moon oilers and the championship teams of Dallas or the 49ers in that era was wide... It's just in this moment that you have the illusion that we're close. We aren't as close as you think. Yeah it was erratic early. The whole operation was like a pilot trying to navigate through a bad storm. -

Ppl can get mad at me dude but if Cincinnati got in they were going to cook our defense. Sure maybe Allen goes alien mode and wins but what are we really talking about.... They're not winning a championship with this coach and regime. You can try to rationalize it however you want. I firmly believe we need to move on -
In some ways, this is worse than the drought in my opinion
Kelly to Allen replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Its going to get worse in the sense that everything runs its course. It eventually came to a head with the Warren Moon oilers. A big part of life is knowing when something has run it's course or when to walk away. That moment is now, it was probably after 13 seconds.... We need to close this chapter, put this book down and open up a new story around Allen. Similar to Dan Reeves and Elway and going to shanahan -

Same thing happened against different variations of KC and Cincinnati.... Too much data is in. They're not good enough Beane and McDermott had 8 Years. 5 with an all time QB. It's not going to happen with this regime -

Yeah but the drought is kinda like when you were younger and working at Wendy's. All the little things were more enjoyable. But being a contender with a real Hof QB and not breaking through is honestly like experiencing tragedy and real life as you get older and understanding the real world.... We're going to look back on this era and it's going to be very painful and lots of what ifs.... -

Josh Allen is a tragic hero right now dude. The buffalo bills are film noir and it's going to get worse with Beane and McDermott. They're forever defined by 13 seconds and it's just time to move on. Everyone doubting that is just a cope We've all seen this story. It's going to get worse and id rather make the changes now while Allen enters his prime -
As Marv Levy told Bill Polian... " We're not good enough"... Polian was trying to play the what if game and Levy just told him the truth. We're lacking the needed 4-6 blue chip players around Allen and it just is what it is. McDermott is also a liability in the playoffs

They're further away than the score indicated. No blue chip players around Allen. Very avg coach with a historically bad defense in the playoffs Cap situation isn't bad but we aren't making some huge significant signing Gm has been terrible in the draft at the top. This regime is living off the greatness of an all time all time QB and has done very little Even going back to Edmunds and Cody Ford. We are overrated in talent Yup. It only got worse for the Warren Moon oilers. That team was mentally fragile and you can see it with this team and coach. It's why I want to move on from McDermott and Beane We've all seen how this ends -

We can lie to ourselves but turning into an extended version of this eras Warren Moon oilers is truly gut wrenching and tough to swallow. Sunday night was a moment of clarity for me as a fan of this great team. They're never winning a championship with this regime and that's just where I'm at. I tried to be super positive but I'm sorry it's just true. And the roster is very middle class of the NFL with zero blue chip players around Allen. There's not even a Cornelius Bennett or Nate odomes and that's on Beane. It's kinda disgusting that entering year 8 Allen has no real stars around him. The oline was finally upper echelon but it took 6-7 years So yeah that's where I am -
A "Tush Push" to the right just once would have been nice....

It was the weirdest part of this game and a synopsis in the coaching difference between KC and buffalo.... We are good chess players KC is Bobby Fischer- 64 replies

Dalton Kincaid- why so underwhelming this season?
Kelly to Allen replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
We're going to be just a longer version of the Warren Moon oilers unless something changes dramatically. -

It's sad man. Every single top pick from 20-24 was a complete no show. Nothing -
Yup. I said earlier there's not even a Cornelius Bennett on this team. Where is the Eric Moulds or even a Henry Jones??? Its a good roster with Zero blue chip players outside Allen. Pretty sad

So I worked out after the game. Watched some post game and these are my general thoughts.... In the past 5 elimination games ( 4 vs KC) the bills defense has forced 8 punts. For reference the ravens forced 7 punts in just the AFC championship game last year.... Buffalo went 6 qtrs without forcing a punt from the ravens game to halftime of the AFC championship.... KC scored the most points of the year in this game and had their highest EPA in over a year..... Sean McDermott's defense from 2020- to present has regressed dramatically on 3rd down. From 2 to like 5, to 13th to 19th to 29th..... It's regressing exponentially. I thought from my years of watching football that buffalo had the slightly better team and still lost. Their defense was way more banged up in last year's game and they were worse this year.... This is where I'm at. I obviously think they're a really really good team, they have a great Hof QB. But I'm about 99% sure that they're never going to win a super bowl with McDermott. Too much data is in, and this doesn't mean he's not a good coach. He's just not good enough to win a super bowl. Ppl will look at the regular season success against KC but in reality with such a stark contrast it actually reveals that the KC coaches are doing e much better job at making adjustments when it really matters and that is undeniable now after 4 losses to them in the playoffs.... Obviously I love the team and all the memories we've had as fans watching the bills but I just think it's fair and realistic to put it into perspective. They're not winning a championship with this coach. I think we need to have a conversation about Beane. Not that he's bad but his top picks are middle class and not blue chip. It's a problem.... Lastly I feel like Allen is becoming a tragic hero and it's something I think a lot of bills fans are going to be more upset about as time goes by because ultimately his career is being wasted. I don't think this staff is maximizing his potential and I don't know if he's going to reach his apex with this coach. ( This is in the context of winning championships, not being a really good offense that wins a ***** division) Ultimately I told my Dad a few days ago buffalo has never won this game and this city in a sports sense has never met the moment. They literally invent tragedy and are basically the sports version of the movie state of Grace. It just doesn't feel like it will ever be in the cards.... I don't think Terry pegula is going to do anything and we're going to go down as a longer version of the Warren Moon oilers.... It's the same thing every year. They didn't force a single punt in 6 qtrs in this playoff against the ravens and to halftime of the AFC championship
-
That's probably true and I hate admitting that. McDermott is a good man and solid coach but we're never winning a championship with him. We just aren't
-
Btw Allen was pressured on 46% of his drop backs.... It's astonishing he again almost pulled it off. Saying we got out coached is putting it mildy
-
I hate admitting this but you're probably right. It's a very middle class roster in talent and outside Allen there are zero blue chip players You know what's sad. We probably can't trade him now either for anything

If Sean Payton was our coach in this game and put together the game plan all week What do you think the results would be A better question is what do these past 5 years look like with Sean Payton? One really has to wonder
