State of Illinois boycotting Bank of America
RI Bills Fan replied to Hazed and Amuzed's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It certainly appears that management was complicit in driving customer orders from the failing company in Illinois to the thriving company in Iowa. What isn't clear is the question of whether or not the Iowa Company has a union contract or not. The BoA angle appears to me to be a smokescreen. Everyone is focused on BoA's refusal to make a bad loan while ignoring what could be an end around by company management killing the old union company (and dodging the collectively bargained fiduciary agreements) in favor of a new non-union company. I don't know what the law is in a case like this but it appears to me that a smart, politically savvy prosecutor could have a field day with this situation. -

Obama Might Open a "Torture Commission"
RI Bills Fan replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Point One - Torture is effective when the torturer already knows the answers that he or she wants the torturee to give to the questions being asked. That is why torture was used so successfully in midevil times and by totalitarian regimes. "We know you are a terrorist! Just confess and the ______________ will stop!" Point two - The idea is to defeat the terrorists, not to become them. We can either hold the "Moral high Ground" or dive headfirst into the cesspool. Doing the right thing is the American Way. It is supposed to be what separates us from them and makes us better than them. But if we only do it when it's the easy thing to do then we are on our way to becoming them. Point Three - Treating prisoners in a humane fashion and using proven psychological incentives to gain their trust and confidence is a vastly superior method of interrogation when compared to torture when getting truthful answers to the questions is the goal. I'm not saying it's 100% effective because it isn't I'm just saying you're more likely to get truthful answers. Point four - 24 is a television show, not real life. Jack Bauer doesn't exist. Get over it. -
Just a little side note for some of you. Federal Law and Military Procurement Rules and Regulations prohibit use of materials which originate from or are manufactured in Non-Nato Countries from being used in Classified Systems. The chips in the $699 Laptop you got on sale at Best Buy are definitely not the same as the chips in the $(Classified) Laptop being used by the Engineering Officer of the Watch on a Nuclear Submarine. And as far as the cyber-war fears are concerned, remember one thing, a computer has to be connected to a network in order to hack into that network. Ya can't always get there from here...

Let's get it right Ditch Operator , I'm a retired Master Chief Petty Officer, not an Ex-Naval Officer. I worked for a living during my years in the Navy just as I do now. -

Anyone who goes to the trouble of erecting a flagpole on their property can be expected to know the rules for display of the American Flag so yes if I see an upside down flag I assume that it is a distress signal. And yes I respond to a distress signal when I see one. And in answer to the rest of the BS in your post, just bite me. I stated very clearly my views in the post I directed you to. If your reading comprehension isn't up to the task of deciphering that post I suggest you go get a second hand copy of "Hooked on Phonics." -

To anyone in the military, or who has served in the military, an upside down American Flag is a signal that the inhabitants of the structure flying the flag are in extreme distress. In the past, flying the flag in that manner has been used to signal hostage situations, quarantine, etc. For a member of the military, a veteran, or a law enforcement official, the correct response to a sighting of an upside down American Flag should be to investigate and see what type of aid is desperately needed by the person or persons flying that flag. Flying the American Flag upside down because one disagrees with the results of a recent election, or doesn't like the direction the country is headed in (according to the flag raiser) is, as the grunt's friend correctly noted, highly inappropriate but unfortunately, again as the grunt correctly noted, it does fall under the heading of free speech. -

Hey Grunt, you never did answer the only pertinent question in this thread. If it was 2000 or 2004 and she was a Gore or Kerry supporter would you still be defending her right to free speech, or would you be bashing the hell out of another "Wacked-Out Fuggin Liberal?" C'Mon, you can be honest with us... -
Then what you are saying is anyone who ever responds to any of your posts is just flat out stupid? Good Info, hopefully everyone gets the message from here on out.

Yep, we believe you... Huh, imagine that!

In the future, ElegantIdiot, when you do not understand the context of a post please either take the time to read the preceding posts or ask your nanny to explain things to you. I would also like to ask you to please refrain from ever again replying to one of my posts or quoting me in any way shape or form as I consider you to be roughly equal to Wacka on the PPP IQ chart (you both rank somewhere below a partially set jell-o mold).

Mini-Nuclear Power Plants For Your Backyard
RI Bills Fan replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
No moving parts? That raises a whole crapload of questions in my mind. Like do the people who wrote the article understand how electricity is generated in a Nuclear Power Plant? Hint: Think Fulton's Folly on Steroids. -
Only a Loony LIBERAL Weenie refuses to get behind the President and/or President-Elect in a time of Crisis. I'm just sayin'...

Those sixteen civilizations, StupidNation, what were their names? -
Hey StupidNation, when you gonna answer the question I asked you in the California Thread? You Know, the names of the sixteen great civilizations that were brought down by Gay Marriages...

Keep spewing the revisionist history... Bush pulled the weapons inspectors out before the invasion. Google the name Scott Ritter. He was one of the chief inspectors. He tried to tell us that there were no WMDs but was quickly branded a traitor and Saddam Apologist by the Neocon Smear machine and the supposedly liberal media.
