  1. Ahhh... The peanut gallery has spoken! I shall now consider myself properly chastized for the next five seconds or forever, whichever is shorter.
  2. I did. I was pointing out that the inflation rates in the 50's and 60's were much smaller than they became in the mid 70's and later, so the rates built in to the calculations were undoubtedly way off. I said that also. To someone else who misrepresented what I said in my post. Why do you care? I'll give you a hint: I don't know, nor do I care enough to do the math. What I challenged was the use of a 1967 forecast in direct comparison to actual 2009 expendatures without adjusting for inflation. But apparently that has a pile of panties in a wad.
  3. You're still trying to get me to argue a position I never took in the first place. All I said was factor in inflation then compare the numbers. Certain poster are throwing 1967 Projections up against 2009 Actual Costs. That doesn't work unless you adjust for actual, not projected inflation. If the projections were off by 300% fine, that means that the projection of 1 million spent turned into 3 million actually spent. That's pretty damming in and of itself. But by not adjusting for inflation, the projection of 1 million spent appears to turn into an actual expendature of 30 million. Why does it need to be distorted? Why won't the simple truth do?
  4. Just bringing it down to a level where you needn't worry about being confused by the big words. Particularly after your opening post made it perfectly clear what level of sane and rational discourse you were interested in engaging in.
  5. And that makes a practical difference, how? (i.e. if I collected 50 million in tax revenue in 1967, and that 50 million bought 50 M-1 Tanks, and I collected 50 Billion in 2007 and that bought 25 M-1 Tanks, how am I better off?)
  6. Shows me you need to look up hyperbole on dictionary.com But that's just me...
  7. All I'm saying is compare apples to apples, not apples to zebras. And that we won't know who's right for a few years.
  8. This isn't the first and most likely won't be the last considering how fast the level of right wing victimization is rising. I just find it amusing when the posters who leap to defend what one side does start to whine when the other side does the same thing. But that's just me.
  9. Reading comprehension is not your strong suite is it?
  10. So either you don't believe that anyone who has a opinion that differs from yours on how to best achieve the "American Dream" believes in the US Constitution, Individual freedom, & Self determination. Or you think the previous administration believed in balanced government budgets and the absence of government intrusion in our lives and bank accounts. But me guess is that you actually believe both of those things. That's sort of sad, Blinky, it really is.
  11. I don't spend a lot of time listening to Shultz, but I do love a person who can make conservatives piss themselves all the time like he can. [/labillsfan]
  12. Rainy & Gray but Morning none the less... Yeah they prolly do have the numbers wrong. But if you factor in inflation their numbers are prolly pretty close to your numbers. We'll just have to wait and see.
  13. Yeah, Damm them for getting that inflation factor wrong. How could that possibly happen with inflation being such a huge problem from 1950 to 1970?
  14. So in your opinion, education (Indoctrination) is good if it results in people developing a set of ideals and beliefs that march in lickstep with your ideals and beliefs. But Education (Brainwashing) is bad if it results in people developing a set of ideals and beliefs that differ frem your ideals and beliefs. Did I decipher that correctly Blinky? Who was the Dirty Commie in this discussion again?
  15. Devon also explores and produces oil in select international areas such as China, Brazil, and Azerbaijan. Fail Apache has become a large multinational company, with regional offices and operations in Argentina, Australia, Canada, Egypt and UK North Sea. Fail Chesapeake... well they're pretty much exclusive to North America, but they don't produce oil, they're a natural gas company. Fail So I guess what you're telling me is that drilling in the US doesn't reduce our dependence on foriegn oil because the oil produced in the US gets sold on the world market rather than some mythical USA exclusive market. PS you also missed the distribution part. But I'll be looking for my local Devon or Apache Gas Station. They may exist but I've never seen one.
  16. Even though I essentially agree with everything you're saying I still get confuses by the "drill baby drill" comment. There is no Nationalized Oil Company (That I know of, anyway) in the US, so which oil company is it that drills, extracts, refines, and distributes exclusively in the US? Seriously, I want to give them my business. I refuse to purchace Citgo products because of Citgo's country of origin. Texaco Maybe?
  17. Is "But... But... Look over there!" really a defense? Does the fact that there are other idiots in the world make one particular idiot somehow less objectionable?
  18. Go for the gusto. OBTW, Piling on is a time honored Conservative tactic on PPP. Particularly when someone makes a completely asinine statement.
  19. It seems to me that you're already a master at "dumbing down" your comments. I'm just sayin'
  20. Education BAD! Burn Books! Burn School! Bad Education, BAD!
