Nickelback coach Scott Booker off to New England
JP51 replied to The Jokeman's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ya know, Im tired a standin in line for bars I'll never get in, its like the bottom of the 9th and your never gonna win... -
I think yes he gets a new contract... I also think yes... he is one of those Kelly types... he seems to be loyal and loves the people and the team... but I do think that if we screw him around on the contract then its not going to be kumbaya with him... no one wants to feel like they are being taken advantage of... If he is in the top 4 QBs in the league and getting paid like a mid tier he is probably gonna have an issue... but in the end... Beane, McD and even Pegula know where thier bread is buttered... and Allen is holding the butter knife...

Opinion: Bills SHOULD hire Doug Pederson as assistant HC
JP51 replied to MrEpsYtown's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed here... I think the defense needs to be re imagined... the concept of spotting a team 30 minutes and adjusting to moderate improvement at half time isnt good enough, I was less than impressed game to game with the lack of anticipation from Babich regarding what the opposing offense was going to do to exploit our flaws.. he adjusted well at half time but someone needs to anticipate from the get go what their offense was going to do and that didnt happen... Additionally, the regression of the individual player... Oliver, Jones, Bernard, Douglas, Epenesa, and the stagnation of others like Rousseau makes me wonder if the scheme didnt fit the players, or Development was not effective... thats a lot of players some of the Veteran Young... that should be improving... To me this makes me see through the well our players werent good on defense (which in some regard is true especially at Safety) and that is the problem... to say yes.. there is truth there... but the coaching was also not acceptable.. just MO -
To me priority 1 is a game wrecker on D... and that can be a stud pass rushing DE... or a Wide Body 1T that gets penetration and blows it up at the LOS... either also probably make Ed Oliver more effective... he will never be an All Pro superstar but he is not big enough to handle double and sometimes even single teams... After that there are so many areas of need Safety play Must be upgraded this year... it really wasnt good enough... I would like a corner better than Elam to be able to step in assuming we sign Douglas... I will say if you get priority one.... especially a DE the DB play improves simply because of the pass rush which was pretty much a failure this year at least on a consistent basis... If you go 1T it may favor our smallish LBs in the run game... Game breaking receiver awesome do it. Help Josh all you can.. but in the end... if there was only one thing I could do that really improves this team to me is an absolute monster on the DL either 1T or DE... that is the molding that covers the flaws... and improves the over all team the most IMO... That may just be the final piece we need...

I would like to see a defensive mind hired in here... relegate Babich, fire him dont care... I will tell you why I have this take... I am looking at this past the over all production in defensive rankings etc... the defensive change here was enormous... the players were not talented enough and I get it.... this you cannot blame all on the coach per se... Here are my problems... 1. Player regression under Babich, I thought the majority of the players regressed in play this year.... Oliver, Jones, Elam. Bernard, Douglas, Epenesa, Groot stayed the same in a potential contract year... David Edwards I just wonder what happened there... but in the end when you see players go backwards and young players not improve I start to wonder if the coaching is good. LBs Safeties not shedding blocks... no penetration or real pass rush... I struggle to find a player on that defense that really developed and upped thier game over last year... maybe Rapp? maybe Hamiln? Not sure if that is because they just got more playing time and the body of work was there.... 2. 2nd half improvement - dont get me wrong, I love our ability to adjust at half time... even coming out in the 2nd half like a bit of a different Defense.... what I dont like is the spotting of 30 minutes to the other team... the lack of game plan anticipation that says... Hey these guys have seen us on tape... they are going to do this to exploit that... so we are gonna do this in anticipation... Belicheck Reid heck Parcells were masters at that ... I saw no real anticipation from Babich with regard to what other teams were going to do... I saw him adjusting after they did it... props to him... but Defensive Guru in game planning he is not. Maybe he improves... maybe he is just limited... but I am not gonna complain if they go get a great defensive mind push him to the side and take McD out of the room as a I used to work here guy... my 2... well that was long... my 4 cents...

I am reserving judgement here... the contrary take... Beane for the most part defending his players and coaching staff in front of the media at a very difficult time. He did in a passive aggressive way refer to those he was less than pleased with without calling it out... Every year for the past several all we hear is we are not going to be big players in FA. Every year we sign a surprise player... not this year until he traded for Coop. (that is another story). I simply dont think he wants to send his team and coaching staff away with a message that there is going to be an overhaul of the team and or the coaching staff... at a time when they just got handed another devastating loss... As a manager of people I understand this take... I aint gonna call you out on email... but we will discuss productively what needs to happen. I also dont get a sense that Pegula is saying I am not spending any more... I think if he can find a way to improve he will spend... this is just my take... that being said, I was not overly impressed that he had and relayed an understanding of what really was the issue and then committed to fix it... this may just be his way, maybe he sees a competitive advantage in not playing those cards right now... I do not like his top end drafts, he has not hit on a superstar up top save Allen and Cook... I did not hear anything regarding what he intends to do differently... color me very disappointed... Over all, I am going to reserve judgement on the improving the team via Free Agency piece until we actually get there. The draft piece I am less than excited about if he is not going to bring in some other talent evaluation eyes... he will just have to get lucky. I am not doom and gloom, but I certainly dont feel better after this that is for sure.. I will however wait to see what he does with the team in the off season to judge. I think firing him now would be a mistake... as someone who lived thru the firing Polian years... lastly, even if we removed them both (I think they are a package McD and Beane) do you really trust Terry to be able to hire a duo at this level.... please refer to the Sabres.. JP out... flame away.

I am not disparaging this post.... but I can only imagine what Josh Allen would have done to defenses back in the Mid 60s... when the average DL probably was Josh Allens size lol... and the average WR and RB probably ran about as fast as Josh does... I can imagine a lot of broken fingers on WR and DBs lol....

The NFL wants the Bills to win the Superbowl next year
JP51 replied to TrentEdwardsCheckDownOn4th's topic in The Stadium Wall
The funny thing is the official with the actual view of where the ball was marked it a 1st down... the league chose to go with the official that couldnt see where the ball was instead of the official that clearly saw it was a 1st down. I am sorry I dont like to conspiracy theory but this is utterly inexcusable so much so that it leaves you wondering why?.... -
Thanks Micah be well... enjoy retirement

Maybe they will give us Worthy for him???/ 😆🤣

Will there be any shock organizational moves in the coming days/weeks?

and that is why it would surprise me and I am not for it. -

Surprise moves - not that I agree with these... or at least all of them, but I would be really surprised... I could do with a new set of eyes on the Defense. I would like Beane to also bring in another pro personnel guy. Offense - Kincaid traded (that would be a total surprise) Defense - Babich fired ST - Bass cut FO - Beane hires a new assistant of player personnel to help evaluate More likely moves Offense - Coop, Samuel not resigned, Knox deal re done with a paycut. Defense - DL coach fired ST - Smiley out FO - nothing unless it is to replace Gray or something like that. -
Hard to beat the Chiefs and the refs every post-season
JP51 replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
Everything you say is true.. but i feel like if one of those things are reversed... we are coached better or the officials dont blatently cheat... we win.. and thats without the team playing its A game... I think if that happens we win as well... -
are you counting their 2pt conversion... cause I feel like you need too... red zone play for points... Defense is a disaster.

good comments from Bills players in this new Athletic piece
JP51 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
For way too long this is the case... and If we go into next year with a cobbled Defense that has no game wrecker and passive schemes we will see the same result. -
Well they didnt lose cause they were lazy and didnt work hard.. personell issues and coaching let them down...

JP51 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think this was a frustration of mine all year... neither had an adequate initial game plan and played into what other teams prepared for. I was happy to see them make adjustments at half time... as our 2nd half generally improved... but the lack of 4 quarters and anticipation in our game plans especially with Babich was very concerning. -
Not a huge Worthy fan, I do see him as a bit more gadget than starter... but lack of deep speed was a thing this year for us... so yes I do believe it would have looked a bit different.. Like literally Mack Hollins was your deep threat.. unless you throw a 50/50 ball to Coleman.

Calls for an investigation on Bills for Christian Benford's concussion
JP51 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
as it should be... In some ways if he was back too soon I am glad he got out of the game with that glancing blow... I cant imagine what a serious hit to the head would have done. -
I personally would not
