I think there are always hits and misses, no GM is immune to that... your example is a stark one though almost like the Sabres picking Ric Seiling 1 spot ahead of Mike Bossy lol.... To me... I think if you look back at Levy, Nix, Brandon, Whaley years their failure was defined by their abject neglect at getting a QB of the future for like 20 years... no one put forth the primary focus to get that done we were happy to pick Dante Whitner 8 over all or trade up for John McCargo.... Despite being a flop and a massive reach if will give Whaley credit for at least drafting Manuel... but in the end way too little focus on getting a legitimate replacement for Kelly... and that is weird to say cause it was a long time. I guess I will never understand why these folks never got that... then you have teams like the Packers who seemlessly go from Favre to Rodgers to Love... and remarkably stay relevant for years... So, I never liked the Watkins trade... I think Whaley was trying to save a bad QB with a WR that was theoretically great as well as his job... problem is Watkins was a little Ricky Williams in so much as he didnt really care much and a little Milano always being hurt. I guess in the end it worked out for us with Allen... but man it was a loooooong drought...

I love this it was the opposite in my house my Mom was the naysayer and Dad the optimist that's why I think I am in the middle myself but they both were passionate hanging on every play. My house was the gathering place for friends and cousins to watch the game like 8 of us lying on the floor yelling and screaming thanks for sharing your memory too

I am pretty new here... I love this board. What has become apparent to me is that despite the fact people have different view points and sometimes argue and bicker there is one consistent (minus the trolls) everyone here wants the Bills to win and desperately wants a title before they die lol just 1. I dont look at those that root root root for the hometeam and stick up for them at all costs poorly nor do I look at those that always find something wrong. We all express our feelings and love of the team in our own way. I wouldn't not want those who always have something negative to say not to celebrate with us nor do I think it's proper to go after the "we are the best ever people" with I told you so when we lose (and all those in between) . To me it's emotion and emotion and passion is what makes Bills Mafia special. Not many fan bases care so intensely about their team that they let it effect them this emotionally maybe they are the smart ones I don't know.... but it makes us us... I know this agree with me disagree with me find me annoying or interesting ... tell me about it or not I don't care... but I will never believe that any of you care less than me however you choose to express it. And will happily celebrate with any of you if and when we all get our dream. Now let's go beat Denver.

I agree, they have flaws... and a rookie QB... we have flaws as well... playoffs is a new game... the Bills bring it for 60, get a turnover or 2 hold them to some field goals.. this one wont be in doubt... play like we did against the Bengals in the divisional game... we have problems... but in the end... if you cant beat the Broncos at home in a WC game with a rookie QB... you probably werent winning it all ... just my take.

I just dont think we hear anything until Weds... I hope everything is ok with his family and him and I really hope he plays in the game with a clear head. We could use him to have a big game.

You know, I wonder if there are not folks in the NFL looking at this to be a bit more critical at handing out big QB bucks on hope tbh ... one really bad QB contract can set you back 5 years (Rodgers, Watson lets see what happens with Lawrence... ) anyway, yes it is by far the most critical position, but man they can eat up a lot of salary cap... and if you arent getting the production and they arent your future, you are cooked handing out longer term contracts for big bucks...

Well, actually I thought I was trying to agree with you... that Diggs situation is that he is on IR and not likely to be in a situation where he gets a long term contract next year because he is unlikely to make an impact next year... like OBJ getting 1 or maybe 2 year deals... so I actually think the situation the poster stated will apply to him getting a shorter term deal... but not for the reasons premise (the DIVA status, getting thru a contract and drafting new, diminishing the WR role etc... ) but because he is 30 something coming off a mid year ACL and I dont see him getting a long term contract with that kind of risk . Now if that is not what you were saying when you were saying Diggs situation is he is on IR then I misinterpreted your meaning... but never the less I think he gets a short term contact next year because of the injury not the fact he is a DIVA. That being said... I do think his stints with the Bills and the Vikings could scare some teams away even if they considered a 1 or 2 year deal.

I think if there are any surprises today it who was retained and not who was fired.
