Week 8 - Bills @ Seahawks - 1st half game thread
Bills aPHILLYate replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've reserved this comparison because I didn't want to do too much but Keon is an Anquan Boldin type receiver to me. He legitimately has a chance to be the best WR selected in his draft -
White Jerseys, Blue Pants, White Socks for Seattle

I was honestly shocked when I saw so many folks who opposed the red helmets. I would love to see them again. -
So why was Amari Cooper traded twice in his prime?
Bills aPHILLYate replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
Those are the reasons for those specific cases but it isn't for the 2nd trade during his prime (Dal to Cle). Dallas wasn't in the dumps when they traded him away. That was purely a misjudgment of the value of the contract goin forward. That's why I offered the other perspective that provides more of a baseline answer regardless of the variables effecting the teams trading him away. -

Why he was traded probably has more variables... But if you frame your question from the perspective of "Why did 2 teams trade for Amari Cooper in his prime?", it probably yields more of a consistent answer. Even if you incorporate the Bills for the 3rd trade; it's because he is a #1WR, has consistently been productive and improves the pass catching stable pretty much everywhere he goes- 183 replies

This is exactly what I expected his presence alone to translate to. A proven weapon to account for... Scoring threat... Made impressive catches... Keon has a career day... All of this on 4 days of being incorporated and against a legit defensive unit... We're instantly SB contenders. I stand on that.

Amari Cooper is expected to play on Sunday
Bills aPHILLYate replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have him goin for at least 6 catches 70yds and a TD... 2 of those catches as a result of Josh buying time and Coop finding a hole in the defense -
Context is key when summarized like this... In that 11-14 game rental; what if it's of the 13/14 game variety? That would mean AFCCG or SB appearance correct? Imagine you walk outside and find your favorite car that you bought 4yrs ago is missing and you have a GPS tracker on it... You don't report it stolen because in actuality; you left the windows down with the keys in the ignition so you're technically at fault and might not get anything from putting in a claim with your insurance but you don't have rental coverage either. You also just got new brakes, rotors, a fuel pump, and a tune up because it's been shutting on and off for the last year inexplicably but you don't know what's causing the issue. You begin taking public transportation for a few weeks but you obviously wish you were still driving. Then your insurance company invokes a new policy where you can get a rental in exchange for your bus pass because you're a valued customer! They send you a list of cars to choose from and there's 2 luxury vehicles available. One will skyrocket your premium and is unaffordable, the other is just as good and will allow you to also save up $$$ towards purchasing another car. This is like picking luxury car #2 and the rental place dropping the car off at your front door, with a gas card. They tell you it's yours for the rest of the year and if you like it you can discuss leasing options afterwards but they have to keep your bus pass until you figure it out. At minimum you drive a luxury vehicle the rest of the year. At worst for some reason you decide to return the vehicle and get your bus pass back with some $$$ saved up. I'm certain most teams, owners, GM's and fans alike would jump at the opportunity to pay pennies on the dollar for that kind of in season boost...especially sitting atop they're division

Even with how the next 4 games line up before playing KC is somewhat of a nice acclimation phase. I thought they were winnable without Cooper. Brady has plenty of time to scheme up some packages and get things rolling in the 2nd half. At this point we have 2 outright tough games left (KC & DET) and 2 possibles (SF&NYJ) in my opinion. Considering what you've mentioned, my only concern is Bass goin forward because we can't trust him at all especially in the playoffs.

To not be excited about acquiring a WR of this caliber is quite puzzling to me but to each his own. This is inserting a square peg into a square hole. The need, plus the ability to seamlessly make the transaction work (considering our cap situation) is basically the stars aligning for us. Ignore the coach speak... He is unquestionably our #1 and he will be on the field a majority of the time even if it's just for the defense to account for. The offense improved immensely once the deal was made. This isn't a T.O. and Trent Edwards pairing. We just gave Josh Allen a prototypical WR to work with who is still very much producing and has all the incentive to continue doing so. This could be the beginning of an amazing run. Be excited people!

4-2 after That Strech of Games
Bills aPHILLYate replied to thronethinker's topic in The Stadium Wall
And there's still a chance to rescue Cooper and improve our team at a low cost... But this was a gut check game and despite the refs not doing us any favors, injuries and other adversities; I think we showed something this game. Not certain what to do about the kicker situation but I'm still high on this team as the season progresses and we may show to be an even better team in the second half of the season and make a legit run -

Josh will be back to his MVP ways tonight! I got my Bills Mafia shirt on, some whisky, brews and some tofu on the way! LETS ****** GO!!!! -
1. Crush the Jests on Monday... 2. Send their season and immediate future into even more chaos and dysfunction... 3. Make an offer for Wilson since they're gonna have to clean house... 4. Check the temp on the Reddick situation too... Even if 3 is unrealistic, enjoy watching them implode

Joe Brady has changed the season's expectations
Bills aPHILLYate replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
A consistent year of this kind of productivity from his offense in addition to transforming the offense mid season last year would definitely garner him some looks for a HC candidate. The Daboll situation works to our advantage because I think Brady would be more prudent as far as what opportunity he may take, thus buying us more time. I also think he might be interested in seeing what we could add to this team next year and having an even better showcase of what he can do for future opportunities. I think Philly is the team that could derail everything because Sirianni is seriously on a hot seat and I think they would make a strong push to bring in a guy like Brady to utilize that talent. I could see him being the HC/OC also making Kellen Moore expendable (as he's not being viewed so great right now either) Overall I hope the offensive success is sustained and we can keep him another 2 years but we'll always be at risk of being poached for personnel due to those same successes. It's a catch 22 -
How are we feeling about the next 3 weeks?
Bills aPHILLYate replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I honestly see us running the table because I'm not certain that any of those teams will know how to defend us. This offense has displayed so much variety through the first 3 weeks that there hasn't really been an identifiable concept. Couple that with the fact that a majority of the weapons are new as well; I can see that being an advantage because defenses don't even know who to really try to account for. The defense is doing an amazing job minus 3 of our top playmakers. I might be overly optimistic but I'm also gonna enjoy the ride until I see a reason not to. -
As a guy who lives in Philly and has endured what comes with being a Bills fan since the early 90's; Josh Allen has singlehandedly alleviated a lot of the heartache and stress. It's one thing to have a great QB, but to have a generational, record setting one is totally different. I look forward to being in Buffalo every time he hoists that Lombardi for us!

Spencer Brown signs 4 year extension
Bills aPHILLYate replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
You might not be saying that, but I absolutely read in here that some folks were hoping to let him (and Dawkins) go. However I don't think your stance is invalid either. We do have some history of deals looking bad almost immediately afterwards; when they potentially had more time to assess the scenario. I think some were done as all in moves (which usually come with some measure of risk) and some were premature (which speaks to your stance). I don't know the details of the contract but I don't think it's the most questionable move either. Hopefully we got ahead of the market in that area and when we have way more cap next year we can make a splash move or 2 to upgrade the weapons for Josh -

Bills aPHILLYate replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Fair. My point speaks more specifically to the OL position and the ones who hope to bypass the current situation and hope for either a comp pick (which we assume is relative to performance in some manner) or just want to move onto another roll of the dice in the form of another promising young player. We now have some proof of concept with Brown (when healthy) which is probably the justification as to why they stuck with him as a promising young player to begin with. A comp pick could very likely turn into another Cody Ford scenario I'm not saying that folks can't see it from a different perspective though. I also get that some moves made could be considered premature but when it comes to the OL I like continuity as much as possible especially with the caliber of QB we have. -

I can't believe some folks are still relying on the formula of letting players walk in hopes of comp picks when we literally just saw that scenario not play out in our favor (seeing as though nobody has definitive knowledge of how comp picks are distributed) I also can't believe that folks have this many gripes about retaining an "above average" OL (whom could very much still improve) that protects our best QB ever in hopes of the above mentioned scenario hypothetically playing out. -

Oh lawd... -
I loved how he handled the roll over catch drills. Perfect exercise to prepare for Allen's velocity. I also loved his breakdowns of defenders on routes and how he would approach it. I try to temper my expectations because he's a rookie but he impresses me more and more with each clip.
