10/6/2024 - Bills at Texans 1st half game thread.

McD not throwing that challenge flag was Buffalo packing it in for the day. Need to get the starters out before you get someone else hurt for a game you’re not even trying to win -

McD gotta throw the challenge flag. He might not care about wins and losses this year but the players still do -

If we pull out the entire bag of tricks on opening day, we won’t be able to figure out any new ways to lose later on in the season -

The offense said they’d take the defense’s complete inability to contain and coverage busts and raise them ridiculous penalties in key situations and at least one man coming free on every play -

Will be referring to the team as the Buffalo Josh Allen’s until any of the other 52 on the team decide they’re going to play -

He’s calling them. Josh just isn’t throwing them. Was locked on Kincaid when he slipped under shakirs post and had Coleman dragging the end zone on the first one he ran that was called back. Trust isn’t there. I’ll take the tds wherever we can get them at this point -

Did someone tell Josh he was only allowed to throw once per 4 plays? -

I remember vividly getting absolutely destroyed on this board when I said after the moves of the off season, we would be lucky to get a wild card…………. -
Downplay it all you want but there were some very concerning things going on. Not saying the season is doomed but the confusion on coverage responsibility was very apparent starting with what was plugged in as the first group. Defense, though understandably keeping it very vanilla, was not gap sound and for the most part the bears o line inflicted their will on our starters. Our own o line got routinely blown up as well especially the tackles battling the 4is and 5s. The offensive timing was way off even on the most mundane run plays but hopefully reps will solve that. Not taking anything away from the bears and i do realize they already had a game under their belt but that was a really poor initial outing. Thankfully they’ll live to fight another day and nowhere near sky is falling level but if some of these glaring issues don’t get fixed, could be a rough one.

The most loathsome NFL players of all time

Bryan Cox for his general d baggery and Frank Wycheck (RIP) otherwise decent dude but threw the forward pass that will be shown on every CBS playoff game opening scene for eternity -
Bears @ Bills - Preseason Game 1 - SAT 08/10 - 1 PM
CirclnWagons replied to DaBillsFanSince1973's topic in The Stadium Wall
Pulled a double so just sat down to watch the game. I know it’s the first game of the preseason and people here are trying hard to stay positive but I saw some very concerning things here. Obviously we’re keeping it simple but the secondary struggled mightily just to know where they were supposed to be in certain situations. We were not gap sound defensively. The O line was one thing I was actually pretty confident in and they were horrible at recognizing even the most basic of blitzes. I’m not full on sky is falling but that was a very, very bad way to open the year. Let’s hope over the next few weeks they can remember how to football -
How do you feel about the Bills upcoming team/schedule?
CirclnWagons replied to Gman10's topic in The Stadium Wall
2 brutal stretches for an already depleted roster. Rooks will need to grow up quick and some of the guys that have never had much responsibility on them will have to become reliable immediately. This squad isn’t designed for much success in the postseason and most fans knew it due to the financial constraint we were in so I’d consider a wildcard an incredibly successful season -
Though the Mafia spin doctors have been working 24/7 to have you believe there hasn’t been a draft go this well for a team since what Sonny Weaver Jr pulled off for the Browns in 2014, there’s no doubt we lost a lot of talent, leadership and experience. What does a successful season look like for this depleted roster? Could we say top 2 in division and wild card is legit expectation for this crew or am I too optimistic?

First pick I’ve been on board with this year. I’ve watched this kid in Durham since his freshman year. Insane motor, great ability to find ways to win. Won’t be an instant pro bowler by any means but a good foundation guy and locker room guy

Live 2024 NFL Draft thread - Round 1 (Do NOT tip the Bills pick)
CirclnWagons replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hoping Beane picks up some good experience picking early in the second round because with his combination of off season moves, we’ll most likely be picking early in the first round next year. I knew we couldn’t defend the chiefs in the playoffs but now we can’t defend them in the draft??? -
Live 2024 NFL Draft thread - Round 1 (Do NOT tip the Bills pick)

I was absolutely shredded a few weeks ago for saying after the moves made this was a 7-8 win team at best now. On top of that we waste a prime year from Josh, surrounding him with absolutely nothing and increasing his chances of injury because he has to carry even more weight. Now I’m saying 7-8 is generous. Not only does Beane not get a WR1, he gift wraps a new weapon for our biggest AFC foe? I hear he’s putting together a package of picks we have left to see if he can lure the guy that deflated Brady’s balls out of New England -
Riddle me this, in an obvious rebuild year, why not let Trubisky take several more snaps to save Josh’s body and build trade value for himself in the future? With Josh’s physical style of play, taking serious body blows in a season not setup to see more than 4-6 wins just doesn’t make sense to me. Crazy take but what else can you say

Does this off season mean that any player that makes a pro bowl from here on out for the Bills should just go ahead and pack their bags at the end of the season?
-
My neighbor has a cousin who went on a date with a guy who’s brother waited for an elevator next to Joe Brady and he tells me that the bills are scheming a new system where Allen can snap to himself, block for himself, drop back and pass to himself so this trade along with letting go anybody who ever made a pro bowl or wore a C on that bills jersey doesn’t phase me at all
-
I know money talks but how does the organization justify using one of Allen’s remaining prime years on a rebuild? Imagine going to work everyday knowing that you will not succeed for at least the next year. He’s counting the bucks but that would be hard for someone that competitive

This one has a real Rachel Phelps Cleveland Indians feel

I’m all for trusting the process but this one makes absolutely no sense. Beane got taken the woodshed on this one. Diggs for a few bucks and a 2nd rounder?? I haven’t seen a beating like that since my momma caught me smoking behind the barn. I know Diggs was hard to work with but show me a WR1 that’s not a diva. I know other bills fans that got mad at me for suggesting they are tanking this season but the writing is on the wall.

In this kind of a rebuild, having Josh Allen most likely buys us at least a wild card in what should hopefully be a little weaker of an AFC East. The talent we’re keeping definitely isn’t top tier and the money we can spend with some of the awful contracts we’re holding onto (Von Miller) isn’t enough to bring in anything to change the narrative. Just feel bad for Josh putting it all on the line weekly and using his prime years on a team not designed to succeed
-
That’s great but a majority of those set starters for next year sat behind the guys that got curb stomped yet again by the chiefs. I’m not down on them and will always take Josh vs the world but we are absolutely in the middle of a rebuild. The guys we’re hanging on to are mid level talent at best and these are Josh’s prime years. As much as i hate to say it, Im starting to believe the talking heads suggesting the Super Bowl window for this squad is shut for good but am sincerely hoping to be proven wrong
