  1. On what? Did I say I wanted him gone? No, I did not... I had this exact conversation with Adam in another (no wait, it is this) thread... the vibe in Philly is that Reid is on very thin ice. Should he be? That is another question entirely. I realize that many Bills fans, in their frustration over Peters and other things, got to fellating the Eagles for their brilliant signing, but from here in Philly I can tell you that there is a lot of criticism of Reid and the Eagles FO, and a growing nervousness about their future with aging players. Is it completely sensible? Probably not. Just as most of the chicken littling here on TSW is nonsensical. But outside of the smug confines of New England and probably Pittsburgh, you will not find many fans completely happy with their teams or their coaches. That is what fans do.
  2. Now that last point is something we can agree on. Although personally I can't stand Andy Reid's smugness. Unlike Belicheat, he has not earned it through winning championships, but insists on it even though he has a tendency toward in-game brain farts (bad play calling, horrific time management) that can assume Jauronian proportions.
  3. Thank you for proving that the use of the wallbash is inversely proportional to the IQ of the poster.
  4. Give your head a rest, Adam. I was not calling for Reid to leave, but predicting, based on what I have seen and heard here in Philly. He knows that his run is ending, and despite his past success, a bad year here will very likely be his last.
  5. And remember, the Eagles are depending on Shawn Andrews at RT, and he has not shown up yet... Where's that Nelson sound byte?
  6. A typical preseason injury that reflects inadequate stretching/conditioning/preparation.....
  7. Mike Vick on the Eagles is subtraction by addition. That team is going nowhere this year, and Andy Reid will be gone by February.
  8. Boy, that Andy Reid is a genius.... I mean, he drafts Kevin Kolb two years ago, messing up his relationship with McNabb, and now he signs Mike Vick, to mess up his relationship with both his existing QBs. Smart movie, tubby. Really. And if you people think Dick Jauron is boring and awful in press conferences, you have seen nothing until you see Andy Reid in action.
  9. That is the question. The whole plan is so preposterous I cannot imagine why anyone is taking it seriously.
  10. It's simple self-hate in action, John. That is how psychologically damaged so many Bills fans have become. The only cure is winning.
  11. Of course it is, I was not criticizing you, just adding to the conversation. I am sorry if my note did not make that more clear.
  12. Beerball, I respect your fandom, but your message here highlights the problems with criticizing non-moves. For all we know, they have explored their options, and they may have more info on Brooks than we do. I am not saying we have to simply have faith (the FO has made its share of mistakes), but we should not assume that the absence of moves means the absence of explorations.
  13. Well, that GB line is a tought unit to crack... http://www.theonion.com/content/news_brief...=most_pop_faxed
  14. Oh my.... you just posted something with which I agree. I may have to go lie down with a cold compress in a dark room for a while....
  15. He is already, after all, the Bronze Bust.
  16. That has always been my hope, but there seems to be little movement on that front.
  17. I second the motion... here's one for all of us with hope! Go Bills!
  18. Nice research... I remember the whole thing with pain. The #1 overall pick came from the OJ trade with SF; everyone knew the Bills would go defense, the two top LBs were Cousineau and Barry Krauss from Alabama. Ironically, of course, neither one became more than a serviceable pro. Ironically, on of their #2 picks, Jim Haslett, turned out to be much better. That same draft also brought Fred Smerlas and Jerry Butler, which is not a bad haul considering they got nada for their #1 pick. The Bills did much better with their next crack at the #1 overall, in 1985.... but you all know that story.
  19. Too true, Ken. That is of course the answer. The time it would take to copy and upload the old games alone would make it prohibitive. Too bad.
  20. I am excited that such a DVD exists now, but can only sigh my old complaint: why oh why is it not possible to get full game tapes of older games? I know there are plenty of practical reasons why, of course, but sometimes you just need to ask rhetorical questions... Thank goodness for BillCody1960 on YouTube, whoever and wherever he may be, for his efforts to post at least the good parts of past games....
  21. Exactly right. The problem with signing bonuses is not that they do not count under the cap, but that the team/owner has to be wealthy enough to be able to come up with it all at once, which is no small thing. Salaries themselves, as anyone will tell you, are virtually covered by the TV contract; only a select few have 10+ million smackers handy to give to a free agent. In that sense, there is not a completely level playing field, even with a salary cap.
  22. Bills first round pick in 1979; he ended up signing a contract with the Monreal Alouettes of the CFL (no, really!). It has to be one of the signal traumas of Bills fandom from the Dark Ages of the 1970s.
  23. You really need to do something about your addiction to the head-bash smiley, John. It is becoming downright unhealthy.
