  1. I would modify the QB slide rule. It makes no sense for the QB's rush yards to count like any others, but defenders are put back on their heels to avoid hitting, which allows him to gain an advantage. I would say that the QB can slide a maximum of five yards from the LOS. If he gets greedy and wants more yards, he risks getting hit like any other ball carrier. Kelso had mentioned this earlier this year in a game broadcast, and I think it is worth considering.
  2. How exactly should Chan have used him? Hand to him on first and second down, leaving 3 and 7 or so. I think they used Marshawn like that extensively.
  3. Lynch's last two carries have been for no gain... ah, the memories! Followed by a catch for -1 yard!
  4. You have no idea how quickly one can write if one does not pause to edit... or to think, for that matter.
  5. The Bills had good luck with their last QB from Arkansas. As long as Ryan Mallet does not habitually tug at his chin strap and stalk, head down, to the sidelines, I am all for him.
  6. Nice twist here. Kelly actually says a great many positive things about Ralph, but the poster decides to spin it to fit his negative agenda. A particularly creative version of Bills' fan self abuse. Kudos to you, drunk, depressed self-abuser!
  7. Of course they might trade the pick, but the logic here is flawed, based only on the OP's assumption that "frugal Ralph" does not want to pay the top pick. Yet, outside of Tom Cousineau (more than 30 years ago), there is no historical basis for this position at all. (Before anyone mentions Jim Kelly, please note that in 1983 the Bills were prepared to make him a multimillion dollar deal when he bolted for Houston...) It all comes down to another act of despairing self-abuse by a depressed Bills fan. Seek help, my friends!
  8. Well, if they do not re-hire Polian, perhaps the new ownership can borrow one of the graven images of Bill the Magnificent that so many TDB posters seem to keep in their basements for their daily round of prayer and mortification of the flesh.
  9. Yay... more Bills fan self-loathing....! We suck! We suck! We suck! Is that what you want to say?
  10. Amen to that. What, they wanted Marshawn, but did not have the Bills' phone number? That is idiotic on its face.
  11. Same as you. I come here to exercise my sense of moral superiority.
  12. A person, perfectly free to watch or not watch football, decides that he wants to go onto an Internet chat room and say the worst things he can think of about a sports team of which he is nominally a fan. It is a sign of serious insecurity issues. And it is tiresome, since about six dozen others have decided to do the same thing.
  13. And yet you registered for this site just to say that. Score another one for performative narcissistic self-loathing!
  14. Well put, DaBills. I agree that many players can be quite serviceable, and that sometimes shows up when they go elsewhere. Truth is, many players become the object of obsessive dislike that leads to a herd mentality.... from Glenn Parker and Dusty Ziegler to Justin Bannan... Kelsay is actually in that group too, though he may deserve it. I actually would have preferred to keep London Fletcher. As much as it would be nice for Poz to suddenly turn into Shane Conlan (actually, his durabilty rivals Conlan's, but that is another story), it would have been better to keep Fletch and use that pick for another purpose. But there I go being all hind-sighty myself.
  15. Nice post, but is even more hindsight biased than most. No one at the time cried tears about losing either Bannan or Edwards. Heck, most of TSW was convinced that Bannan stunk and was only drafted because Tom Donohoe was a racist who preferred white linemen. Seriously, that was the level of discussion on Bannan.
  16. What is hard to understand is how you fixated on that one debatable point, and missed the larger issue to compare this trade to the Maroney deal. The great and glorious Pats had to send him and a 6th to get a 4th.... which puts this deal in perspective, something that too many knee-jerk critics around here clearly lack.
