  1. Well put. Anyone who thinks that they have somehow done a good thing by slinging neanderthalian sexist comments is an idiot. There are so many ways to express intelligent disagreement with a newspaper column; none of them involve references to gender or other stereotypes. Any sensible person should recognize that.
  2. A sensible person would indeed recognize that the team will lose a game here and there.... but I can also pretty much guarantee that after the first loss this board will be full of people claiming that the loss shows the REAL team, with its weaknesses, etc. If the team loses two in a row, well...
  3. The irony, of course, is that everything in that article was true back in August, when everyone was dumping on the team, its front office, its players, and its fans, and speculating about how soon the team would move to LA. Amazing what winning a couple of games will do.,
  4. We of course lost all our teeth to scurvy, and had to make dentures from the jaws of the various animal carcasses that were dumped on us every morning as we slept in our paper shack in the dump.
  5. Huh... arrows are luxury! Why, I remember waking before the dawn to eat my breakfast of lukewarm gravel and road apples and then having to take up my job standing in for the bumpers at the railyard.
  6. That was the skit I was attempting to channel. Good Stuff! Thanks, brothers, for an amusing diversion this afternoon! Much better than when we were kids passing the time catching javelins.
  7. Walk? WALK?!?! We were expected to RUN, double time, in shoes made of sharp old tin cans and bottle caps, up hills built of sand that we were expected to carry with us at all times. And we were grateful for it!
  8. When a market's team is on the road, the game is never blacked out. Why, back when I was a youngster, the only Bills games we saw on TV were when the Bills were on the road. Back then the TV was run by vacuum tubes and a dinosaur dung-fired generator. Them was hard times. But we were grateful for them, by Jingo.
  9. Man, she may have been off base with her column, but the brain-dead trogs who wrote those responses to her should be ashamed of themselves. All that name-calling is not only out of line, it allowed her to sidestep the meanness of her own piece by presenting herself as a victim.
  10. I did. Wow. Again. BillCody1960, you are a great humanitarian, whoever you are!
  11. Yeah, Mort can't avoid making the not terribly veiled crack at Ralph, but note that he uses Butler as his source, when what really chaps his nethers is that Ralph fired his friend Tommy D. As if firing Donohoe were some sort of spur-of-the-moment decision, and Donohoe had not proven himself to be failing and flailing.... sigh. But he does give props to the present, and that is nice. Enjoy the moment and hope for the best. Sadness is inevitable, but not yet, not yet.....
  12. I am so done with this team!!!!! So that's what it feels like to write that. Hmmm.
  13. They flipped a coin before going on the air, and Bayless was given the "rip the Bills" script. I knew there was a reason I watch so little sports TV.
  14. A thing of beauty is a joy for ever: Its loveliness increases; it will never Pass into nothingness; but still will keep A bower quiet for us, and a sleep Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing. Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing A flowery band to bind us to the earth, Spite of despondence, of the inhuman dearth Of noble natures, of the gloomy days, Of all the unhealthy and o'er-darkened ways Made for our searching: yes, in spite of all, Some shape of beauty moves away the pall From our dark spirits. Such the sun, the moon, Trees old, and young, sprouting a shady boon For simple sheep; and such are daffodils With the green world they live in; and clear rills That for themselves a cooling covert make 'Gainst the hot season; the mid-forest brake, Rich with a sprinkling of fair musk-rose blooms: And such too is the grandeur of the dooms We have imagined for the mighty dead; All lovely tales that we have heard or read: An endless fountain of immortal drink, Pouring unto us from the heaven's brink. EDIT: That's from John Keats. Look it up, Thurman.
  15. He was hoping to draw coverage over to Hammer's Lot to help shift the balance of power in the AFC North. EDIT: All in good fun, Simon.
  16. Says the man climbing onto the breakfast bar and unzipping. Has anyone who has ever used that or similar phrases ever been sincere? I think not.
  17. Nice catch. It does appear he had a handful of jersey, and the Packer is leaning back toward him as a result.... Is that the hold that was called?
  18. I guess this week PFW spoke to different people than when they were full of quotes about how dumb Buddy Nix is, huh?
  19. That is only partially true. After the trade, several folks wanted to use it as exhibit A that the "football people" were not making decisions, and to build an entire narrative allegedly proving not only that the Bills suck, but that the suckitude was the conscious and inevitable result of a conspiracy by Russ Brandon, Jeffrey Littman and Jim Overdorf, on the orders of Lord Sauron Wilson, to keep the Bills awful. Whether this was to set the team up for a sale, or just because they were evil bean counters with names easily misspelled for humorous effect, depended on the mood of the individual poster. It doesn't quite look like that anymore, and now lots of people are walking around TSW pretending they never thought those things they thought and wrote.... That, however, explains why many other posters continue to bring up the Lee Evans trade now. Though we should probably all get over it and enjoy the ride.
  20. Quite true that his O-line is a problem. And, frankly, his style of play leaves him more vulnerable, period. It is a puzzle, because that style can look so great when the defense is not able to keep him contained, but it exposes him to a lot of hits, some borderline, that a pocket passer does not face. The Iggles will have to make some adjustments to help take advantage of his skills but limit the risk....
  21. Thanks, Fez! I had not seen it, and am shocked that they did not just pick up the flag. Jeez.
