This discussion gives me flashback nausea to the plays of Earnest Byner (1984) and Bobby Jones (1981) against the Bills.
-
Zach having a huge game would be so good for the Bills... both a Houston loss and more confusion in the Jets QB situation.

Sure would have liked to see a sack or two on the last drives of Mac Jones and Russell Wilson.... But yes, they have been much more aggressive this year.

How was the Helmet swing not a Penalty?
RJ (not THAT RJ) replied to Einstein's Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall
The broadcast was especially terrible on explaining things like that. Even more than broadcasts these days have been terrible when it comes to discussing penalties. Al Michaels showed no interest in explaining or discussing much of anything. -
Fitzpatrick's veiled criticism of Dorsey?
RJ (not THAT RJ) replied to The Helmet of's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not just the refs. Sleepy Al and Dopey Kirk didn't say anything about it either. The broadcast team was abysmal. -
Yeah, but that play went on several beats longer than it should have. Slow whistle led to further wrestling which led to the facemask grab. I believe his name was Patrick Mahomes.

Amusingly, Andy Reid had long been famous for terrible clock management at the end of halves. Some apples don't fall far from the coaching tree.

One doesn't have to believe in conspiracies to know that the good teams get the calls and the bad teams don't. Things occasionally break the other way because of human unpredictability, but the Chefs are not the first good team to get the calls when they need them. They also won't be the last.

Ja’Mar Chase: “I’m open. I’m always ****ing open”
RJ (not THAT RJ) replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
Precisely because they ended our season in humiliating fashion nine short months ago. Schadenfreude doesn't have the same Freude without some previous Schaden. -
The NFL requested that they at least keep it respectable up to halftime.

Officials allowed the Chiefs to cheat the entire game
RJ (not THAT RJ) replied to Gisele's topic in The Stadium Wall
Especially when the League also allows random line judges to flag wide receivers for not "covering up the tackle" -
I think we can all agree that we will forego Von sacks in September for some sacks in January and February.

It's the eternal situation--many people think being critical shows how smart they are, and think that positivity is somehow dumb. Those binaries are of course silly. That people apply them to the toy department of life is even sillier. Enjoy the games, my Bills brethren. The world is awful but hope is beautiful. Choose hope. Go Bills!

Play Clock Solution / Delay of Game
RJ (not THAT RJ) replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
I find it very appropriate that we are having this discussion as we prepare for the Bills to play Cincy in the playoffs, since that game included one of the most painful delay of game flags in league history.... -
Chiefs flexed to Saturday (Jags-Titans too)
RJ (not THAT RJ) replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hey, if the NFL wants to put its thumb on the scale to get what it wants for next Sunday, that's OK with me. -
How does McDaniel not suffer consequences for being so cavalier/clueless about his franchise QB?

I listen to a lot of the Bills games online or on SXM, and like the continuity with Murph as well as his excitement at big moments, but I agree he has his limitations. My biggest complaint is he has trouble calling running plays. You can rarely tell from his inflection whether the back has just ripped off a 20-yard scamper or got dropped for a loss and have to rely on the crowd reaction before he will finally say what happened. That may just show how hard it is to do the job as well as Van Miller did--though Van had his problems with calling passes caught that were not, misnaming players and yardage, etc. It's not an easy job.

The Bengals were not a #1 seed last year, after all...

Devin Singletary not scoring a TD with 34 seconds left
RJ (not THAT RJ) replied to chongli's topic in The Stadium Wall
you can say it. Heck, I’ll say it too. But we can’t say we know what McD was thinking. And we certainly can’t jump to the conclusion that he lacked confidence in his D when he made his decision. -
If we must criticize, how 'bout Cam Lewis gets his share?
RJ (not THAT RJ) replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
post of the year. Bravo! -

It is a legit question. It is not a legit statement to say that the decision to play for the kick shows lack of faith in the defense. That’s just people looking to carp about McD. -

RJ (not THAT RJ) replied to chongli's topic in The Stadium Wall
Does going into victory formation or running down the clock demonstrate lack of faith in your defense? Why not just punt to the other team and let the D stop them? Do you people listen to yourselves? -

Sure, Jan. -
So, reading the board, we lost again. 3-11. Sigh.

I’d say that if the Bills score 32 points in bad weather they would win a lot of games against a lot of teams. I guess that makes me a homer.
