  1. not to mention he had no leverage. He was beat at the snap of the ball and was chasing davis with his back turned. That is a recipe for a td or a PI. The broncos did it to buffalo two weeks ago and got a cheap PI and ended up winning the game on that drive. People keep using the word leverage and they are confusing it with position. The db basically was beat and turned and was chasing. If davis goes inside he has an easy catch looking right at the ball and the d back is again, chasing with his back turned and would probably commit a PI or just be flat out late. anyway, whatever I guess.
  2. Nope. It is not. The rules are setup to keep these games close....If you have a big lead it is not safe and if you are trailing late it is never insurmountable. Unlike MLB where you really earn your wins, (there are no Flags thrown after a walk off home run or a double play turned in the bottom of the 9th where the offense gets another crack at it because a player was 6 inches out of position before the pitch having nothing to do with the play...and yes i know they put in rules against the shift and how far over the ss and 2b can be) anyway. The NFL competition committee wants the game this way exactly. 4th and forever late in the game down 4 or 6 just heave one up and the officials will call anything close a penalty to give you another chance. This is how the competition committee wants it and this is how they call it. Yesterday was an atrocious day for the over officious jerks...they missed three shots to the heads of bills players, blatant PI and a ridiculous horse collar....Nothing will come of it and no one will care in a few days or weeks after the next thing grabs the headlines. As long as people are watching and the games are close the NFL Owners are winning.
  3. Yep that is always the trick. Look at the dolphins head coach and your first impression would be he is one of the offensive quality control guys...instead he is running a very good team having a good season. On the flip side look at washington. They have the prototypical head coach and he is about to be fired. the trend and for good reason since the rules are what they are is to have a good offensive young mind to pair with a high end qb and a veteran staff, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Personally and I know it is not possible but Sean McVay as the head coach with this offense and a veteran defensive staff would be pretty great. Again, I know that is not an option. I will say I am 100% against any coaches from the Andy Reid tree or the Bill Belichick tree.
  4. There was no player in the stands fighting a fan. There were players reacting to a fan heckling them. No one was hurt, no one was hit. It was a big nothing from a group of frustrated guys. that is all. people clutching their pearls and acting like this is malice at the palace part two...i mean give me a break.
  5. Great. Note to the offense. You will need to be up 9 points or more with 1:00 minute or so left on the clock in every game going forward or the philadelphia football savant who runs everything here will find a way to lose the game for you.
  6. To soon to know. But look around the league. The eagles pulled sirianni out of nowhere essentially. The colts this year have a young head coach with little experience and here they are at 6-5. The dolphins are the same. Someone needs to be brought in here who will bring excellent coordinators and can handle the nuances of the game late and in the immediate future they are going to have to be able to handle the Diggs situation which will probably be bad at the end of the year. The era of retreads is kind of over because that era of coaches are all too old or not around anymore. Its all fresh faces essentially. i have zero doubt a new defensive coordinator and roster changes will improve the defense and I have zero doubt the special teams will improve also with coaching and roster changes. Sean McDermott seems to be an excellent secondary coach but he just cant get it right late in games and that is the damn job. I would imagine the next head coach is from an offensive background, someone who can bring something here to really make this offense take off while a veteran defensive staff runs that side of the ball.
  7. I didn't say you wanted to get rid of Allen. I am saying when you have a guy like Allen in your prime you do everything you can at all times to keep talent around him and the best coaching you can. If the cap is maxxed out and money is pushed down the road that is fine, keep doing it as long as he is here. A few of the big contracts will be gone in a few years and other guys who are older will be replaced. my point is that there is absolutely no way in hell you ever say well we will clean up the cap and try to compete in 3 years when you have this QB and this offense. No way and anybody they bring in to be the head coach or possible GM in the future should be asked to leave the office as soon as they say this. The first task here is to go out and get the best staff they can get and then let that staff make the changes to the defense they want and then let them coach it their way. The current situation is not a good one and the defense and special teams simply keep making mistakes late to get them beat.
  8. Pretty much the nfc east teams and some others like the raiders, patriots etc.. basically if your owner is a celebrity and a reaction can be attained by showing him then they will. I have no problem with the eagles owner, he is a good dude unlike a lot of the people who own these franchises. and have no fear on the eagles losing. They are basically setup to have the rug pulled on them. They have that look like the 15-1 packers who were invincible in 2011 only to lose to a 9-7 Giants team at lambeau. There day is coming.
  9. Not to be a jerk but you could not be more wrong. This organization should go out and get the best coaching staff it can and continue to shuffle in players to help. They should be right at the maxxed out point every year Allen is the qb. When you have a guy like that at qb...and frankly this offense in general which is pretty outstanding with a very good offensive line, you should never ever ever be talking about 2 or 3 years down the road and this nonsense about cleaning up the cap. EFF the cap. Keep it pushed right to the limit. When you get out from under a few of the big contracts go right out and sign some more. Worry about the damn cap and all that crap when you are back to having Trent Edwards at QB. For now You go all in every year until you reach your goal or you go down swinging trying to reach it.
  10. Who cares. These guys are all frustrated. Everyone is so soft with this stuff. They were just yelling at each other. I worked in a grocery store in high school and college and there was a guy who worked there who got into an actual fight with Ty Domi after heckling him at a game. No one cared, the dude got called for saying stupid stuff. No one died. Life went on. Besides in a few weeks when the eagles blow the division and then ultimately lose in the playoffs in a game similar to today's where they cant come back those same eagles fans will hate all their own players.
  11. Good lord. It is right in front of everyone's face. The Head Coach runs everything here, the GM works for him and he is the HC and DC who calls plays. The players that come in here are his guys he wants. Everything the organization is doing is what McDermott wants. Time has proven that he is not worthy of all this credit. He does not know how to close out a game and he repeatedly passes the buck. His time has come. It can not be any more obvious. Your side of the ball which you are in complete control of has blown 3 games when handed the lead late. They can not get stops to save their life. They rush four play soft and give up huge chunks of yards everytime in this situation. He also has the unique ability to call Blitzes at the wrong times and is pretty awful with calling timeouts in these situations. If you want to have an authoritarian who is in charge of everything he should be someone that has closed the deal before. If the organization wanted to have it run this way they should have done everything they could have to go get Sean Payton last February. IMO Sean McDermott is not worthy of all this power and his time here is up. If you are worried about disrupting the team or something by firing him then you have not paid attention to the league. Teams are bringing in new guys all the time and getting good results....at least the same results Buffalo has. Look at what Brian Flores has done for Minnesota's defense in one half season so far. There are defensive coordinators who are good at their job on every damn corner. I am 100 % positive a new DC would be perfectly fine with what they will be handed on defense here even though there are changes coming on that side of the ball next year. This is the NFL not a hallmark movie. You only get so many opportunities to show you can not figure it out before you are replaced. Its time the head coach was replaced here. There are some outstanding players on this team and they deserve a Better head coach and some world class coordinators. This aww shucks hindsight is 20/20 and the qb played well enough to win the LAST TWO WEEKS crap is ridiculous. Mcdermott has gone from a possible long term head coach to a guy who seems to have not many contacts in the coaching business to work with him all of a sudden. He is now the Buffalo Bills Jason Garrett. If he is not replaced this exactly who he will be...a guy who is here just because they are afraid to make a change. I am not interested in anything McDermott says going forward. I just simply do not care what he has to say. His words mean little when he keeps taking the same math test and failing. He is the head coach responsible for every part of the team as he wanted. The special teams here are not good this year, he had to fire his OC and his own personal Defense he is coordinating and calling has a glass jaw late in games. Nothing more needs to be said. These are the situations when you make a change.
  12. If the first thing you post about being a problem is Josh Allen you are not really worth discussing football with. Especially when qb's are essentially all slotted at salaries. Each guy gets more than the last guy. Its how it is done. Im sorry but this place always blaming the qb is just kind of sorry.
  13. How many teams score that much against the eagles and in philadelphia no less?
  14. after last years events and his brother comments two weeks ago. I am kind of looking forward to a change at WR. Go draft a young guy and bring in a veteran. Those guys will not be in a situation to speak down to the qb because of their experience. Its different when the qb is the vet and the wr is the young guy. Older wr who make mistakes or start to slow down are always blaming everyone else. Young guys cant do that. We are two years away from it but it will be good for the qb.
  15. Yep. Half the people here think the same way. Its pretty sad.
  16. Could be the head coach. After all he is the guy responsible for Breaking Jerry Jones playoff drought in 2009. As the eagles DC his D got torched two weeks in a row to end the season costing them the division and then losing the wild card game. He just simply can not change what he can not overcome...at least not here. Hearing McDermott say Allen played well enough for the team to win the last weeks makes my head explode. I dont ever want to hear him speak or talk about this team again. I hope they just play it out and then decide to part ways in January. Lots of coaching changes coming around the league this offseason so it is better to get a head start. and my hot take is absolutely no one from the Andy Reid tree or the Bill Belichick Tree.
  17. I loved the 8 games in a row with an int graphic today not mentioning that last weeks was a throw away hail mary that was picked. No one cares. Because of Diggs outburst during the bengals playoff game the national media decided Allen is a problem and that the bills window is closed. So each week they play to that narrative because most of the fans of the nfl are barely smart enough to spell their own name and they eat it up.
  18. more to the point it seems every other team in this situation this much has someone on their defensive line that gets a sack/strip sack and fumble recovery that wins the game. Mcdermotts defense never does. QB's sit there and have all day to throw vs soft coverage...many times compounded by missed tackles. They just never get that late sack that wins the game. Its always the same thing.
  19. thank you for admitting Davis screwed up the game winning play. also i am not taking the bait on your moving of the goal posts. I have to go pull an all nighter for work and have had enough of this tonight already.
  20. That is not how the offense is run. There is an option there. The bills use routes with options. He is not going to hang in there and throw to the corner when the play is built to go inside when the pressure comes and the safety is beat. The corner route is to get away from the safety and beat a zone defense by creating an angle and space where the ball is thrown to the boundary so that only the wr has the play on the ball. In a typical zone defense the corner would be underneath and the safety breaking to the corner when its thrown. You know like how the broncos scored on the 4th and goal a few weeks ago This was not a zone defense. It was an all out calculated gamble they got beat on and Davis blew it. the options are about pressure and the location of the safety or vs a zone the location of sitting corner or dropping linebacker. its not just inside or outside. Its a number of things. Tonights play was made by Allen and he should have had a 5th td and a game winner.
  21. the broncos just beat the bills late with the same situation. Bills brought pressure, the wr adjusted and ran the go route/9 route whatever and wilson threw it short only to have johnson run directly into him because he was beat immediately, had his back turned and commited the PI. the same thing would have happened here had davis gone inside...its either a simple catch for a game winner or a PI giving them first and goal. This is not some 50/50 thing. The eagles were beat on the play and Davis screwed it up.
  22. OMG. Why do you think the options are built into the play? Its not about chemistry its about seeing the pressure and making the adjustment.
  23. he was turned around and chasing. He was beat immediately. HIs best bet would have been a PI. The eagles gambled and won. They knew exactly what they were doing played the odds and won.
  24. Its also false.
  25. the corner had no leverage. He was beat with his back turned. His best bet would have been to run directly into davis had davis made the correct adjustment and get a PI. Davis blew it and then McDermotts defense blew it again.
