  1. They have a ton of cap space, a qb on a rookie contract, in the 24 draft as of right now they have Two 1's, a 3 and two 4's. The 2nd and 3rd draft picks belong to them at the moment. I imagine they see him as a long term fit that is part of the rebuild.
  2. Seeing that they just gave up a pick more than likely in the top 12 of the 2nd round I imagine they have to extend him. They can't miss two years in a row like this.
  3. oh my fault there. I was thinking he had signed....but I guess that would not have made sense.
  4. I would definitely be interested at this point in Chase Young. It seems washington is going to move some more guys and Young is one of the rare few who have an extremely high upside. He can rush from all over. He is going to want that big contract though and so far he doesn't deserve it. but man the potential is off the charts with that guy.
  5. The bears last year traded Roquan Smith to Baltimore for: 2023 2nd and 5th rounders plus AJ Klein. Smith already had a deal in place also so I imagine he is more expensive than Johnson will be.
  6. You can't trade injured players. No. The extension has to be agreed up within certain numbers or you can not make this trade.
  7. The issue is not compensation to the bears. I imagine two teams could get that done quickly. its the contract for Johnson that is the problem and the team that trades for him is going to be in a really tough spot because his agents are going to say well why did you trade for him if you did not think he is this good...etc..
  8. yea that is definitely the issue then. He thinks he is ramsey and the rest of the league does not think he is.
  9. Because they have all the cap space in the world to sign these guys long term however they do not want to keep their best corner and sign him apparently.
  10. So that means a 2nd rounder gets it done for all these guys today.
  11. I don't see it with Dallas. They have an expensive corner in diggs and have paid lewis. They have 3 good corners right now. It could possibly happen, Eberflus was in dallas for years and has a relationship with the people in the front office. He will definitely tell them the deal on johnson. I bet as soon as they find out what kind of money johnson wants they will be out. They have to pay lamb, parsons and prescott again in the next two seasons.
  12. I posted this in the other trade thread and will post it again here. I imagine Johnson and his agents think he deserves to be paid like Ramsey yet his comps are taron johnson, jordan lewis and charvarius ward. That would be like 3 years 23.3 million or 7.7 avg. I imagine this is the holdup with the talks with the bears. So this creates a new wrinkle. Do you want to move extremely valuable trade capital and then pay a player a top end salary who you do not even know? What does this do to the locker room if a guy comes in off another team and is getting this high end money? When you trade for offensive players like Diggs, you can immediately see the results and it is not questioned...especially when they are great like Diggs....When the player is just above average at a position off the line of scrimmage on defense you may not see the immediate results. So if he is brought in and paid then the defense is only marginally better what happens in the locker room? There is a lot more than just what he costs to get in the door. it just seems like something SF will end up doing because they are always going for it and they spend money on defense.
  13. I think you can also add the variable into this. A 3 in 24 that becomes a 2 if he is extended and then a 3 in 25. or a 2 next year and Elam, a 3 next year, Elam and a 5 in 25.
  14. yea that is true and a good point, their free agency will dictate that.
  15. The bears can just keep him and get a 3rd round comp most likely next year. If they are going to move him I imagine it has to be better than the comp pick they will get anyway.
  16. Yea SF is the team I would not want to be competing against in this scenario. Both teams are good enough to win a championship but SF always worries about Tomorrow, Tomorrow. I dont think they would even blink at giving a 1 and a huge contract if they think he is what they are missing.
  17. probably not but Elam was a first round player and teams always give multiple opportunities to those guys. So moving fuller and having a guy thought highly enough of to be drafted in the first round could make sense for them since he has so much time left on his deal.
  18. yea I don't think they want a team they just moved to Las Vegas to be ditching star players during the season. In the offseason sure but not during the season. I am still surprised they just moved Carr.
  19. Players are always frustrated, especially wr. I imagine on Wednesday when he talks to the media he will apologize in some way for taking attention away from the team and putting it on him. I cant imagine any scenario where the raiders trade him. The raiders just built the stadium and moved to stupid las vegas....I can't imagine the league wants them to have a fire sale on halloween.
  20. This is interesting if true regarding sweat. A 3rd rounder that becomes a 2 if he is extended is a good way to make a deal. If you don't extend him you probably get a 3rd round compensatory pick for him in 25 anyway. I imagine this type of thing could be used for Johnson also. https://x.com/BenStandig/status/1718967487755063783?s=20
  21. Washington can keep him and let him walk next year and get a 3rd round compensatory pick in 25 I believe. So I imagine he takes more than a 3. The Bills could get creative and make some kind of large move though, Elam a 2 and a 2025 4 for Fuller and Sweat.....or something like that. Washington gets a replacement for fuller leaving and high compensation for guys they are not going to resign. This will never happen however.
  22. Joe Buscaglia has a nice article on the athletic about potential trade targets. His DT options are intriguing. Teair tart and John Jenkins. He seems to think a lot higher than I do about Kenall fuller though. https://theathletic.com/5014080/2023/10/30/nfl-trade-deadline-buffalo-bills/
  23. I would just like to Add on Jaylon Johnson. Spotrac's potential salary for him is 3 years 23.3 mllion with an avg salary of 7.7 million. I imagine this is the hold up with the bears and a contract. He probably sees himself as Jalen Ramsey and his comps according to spotrac are taron johnson, jordan lewis, charvarious ward...etc....This must be the issue. also a few more things, Seattle sending a 2nd round pick to NY while NY ate the salary on Williams may not be an accurate estimate on compensation. Johnson is younger and less expensive. That seattle pick will end up being a late 2 as would buffalo, Dallas or SF's 2. The bears may ask for a 1 for johnson. I wouldn't want to be competing in this type of situation with SF, I do not think Dallas would even consider a 1 however. The difference with buffalo is they could send elam. Elam and johnson are essentially the same size and elam has years left on his deal and could step in and get a fresh start under imo a very good defensive coach in Eberflus. So maybe Elam and a 3 could be an option if no one else goes higher than a 2. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/chicago-bears/jaylon-johnson-47645/market-value/
  24. Its too soon. We know who teams are when we get to turkey day as Bill Parcells always liked to say. The season starts there for the contenders.
  25. None of those guys are available except johnson
