Yes I know. All star wr's hate losing and justify it by yelling at their quarterbacks on the sideline. I am not bad mouthing hopkins. I don't think its a good fit and WR are never the missing piece. Hopkins brings the thing the bills do not have at the position, size and the ability to make those contorted contested catches. I just think its a bad move for buffalo. I do however think if he did sign here and there were some tough losses the media is going to run to diggs and hopkins and ask them the reason why and there is no doubt in my mind the qb is going to be the reason...it always is with these star wr. I think this is all a moot point anyway, the guy is not going to take a team friendly deal and someone will pay him because he is a good player and buffalo already has a number 1 wr.

Do you realize how different it would be if the opposing team had a week to prepare for chad henne playing qb.... not my argument to butt in on but still......Reid has a history of bad quarterbacks stepping in for his teams and winning. In philly he always had a good defense and a good offensive line. The years he did not they were not good. anyway, the backup coming in during a game can cause problems for a defense if they are an experienced veteran, if they had prepared for him it would be totally different.

It's not. Not by an stretch. Go out on the open market and sign another 3T and see what that costs. The top guys don't get out of their organizations. You have to draft them so keeping your own is usually the best way to go. With the salary cap increase in the next few years and probably an out on this contract in 3 years its not the big deal everyone is freaking out about.

The last thing Allen needs is two ego maniac wr yelling at him in the huddle and on the sideline when they are behind or are struggling. WR never put teams over the top.

Because of the position. The under tackle is the more important position in the defense and the more expensive one in free agency.

They can still draft a DT next year. This contract doesn't stop anything from happening at the DT position.

isn't the bigger question "how do you replace him" going forward. Having no DT's signed for next year, especially the under tackle would be a huge problem. Which other 3T would be available to step right in and play his snaps? How much would he cost in free agency compared to oliver? What is available in the draft next year etc. Extending him fills one spot and allows the organization to at least have him going forward who they can rely on. There will be enough gators in the swamp as it is on defense next year.

That I imagine is the plan. Leave him at the under tackle and let him line up at times next to ford at the nose....along with a healthy secondary and von miller's return they have to expect a good season from him.

Where is the no one wants him thing coming from? DT are in demand all over the league. There are not enough good ones and the draft every year does not produce that many. He would have a market he was an UFA.

Do you actually believe Sean McDermott did not want to keep his 3 technique Defensive tackle? That is usually the most important position on the line. They made a move with ford to make sure Oliver can play his 3T position. There is zero percent chance the head coach/defensive coordinator did not want to extend him.

sounds like its actually 15.75 million making him the 16th highest paid interior defensive lineman. Are there 15 better 3 technique Defensive tackles in the league? The bills have no dt signed for next year except Oliver. Its unreasonable to think you would be able to sign 2 or 3 above average DT's who are free agents and draft 2 more in one offseason. Its going to be hard enough with oliver still here. also it sounds like he may have an opt out after the 3rd year which is an incentive for the player and maybe why he signed the extension right now.

Well if you study the good teams, they develop and sign their own. Not everyone is a superstar or all pro player. DT is a tricky position in the nfl and I imagine compared to who will be available in the draft next year and in free agency they liked the player enough to keep him here. This is not a contract that will stop the bills from being active in free agency nor will it cost them players on the roster they want to keep long term.

Well that is certainly a debate. I will wait and see how this defense looks when healthy and everyone is playing. I imagine he can have a very good season if the secondary stays healthy and miller is back by october and playing at his normal level.
