Hard to beat the Chiefs and the refs every post-season
90sBills replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly! Makes no sense. Yeah that ball hit the ground. If it wasn’t for the illegal holding flag called on us I’d be more pissed. They were going to get the ball with a first down anyway. -

A lot of people say this and I don’t get it. Why would this be the case? It’s not like casinos are barring you from betting on KC. If the NFL is intentionally favoring KC why not just put $ on them and profit. Why would casinos be in favor of influencing an outcome for KC? That would cost them $. -

Von says hello. -
Absolutely! They can call it the Loser Bowl and have trophies and everything.
-
Then you’d would have teams shutting it down early after a playoff spot is secured. I like the bye. It’s a prize for excellence in the regular season. The number 1 seeds should get advantages because they earned it. That’s how Pittsburgh and Big Ben did it. Avoided the Pats.

There’s always something. No matter where the game is it still has to be played. How about just be better and win.
-
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying it was his fault we lost. It was a team loss. What I am saying is the defense held KC to a fg and gave the offense a chance to win at the end. At that point many of us thought we’d win. It was a legacy defining moment for him. Elite QBs relish these opportunities to win big games. Couldn’t get it done.
-
Exactly. Mahomes even gifted us a turnover for a 10-14pt swing and we still lost. Allen had more than 1 down to advance the stick. What happened the first 3 downs? If you think that was Allen’s best performance I don’t know what to say. I’ve seen his best many times and I believe his best on Sunday would’ve been a winning TD on that drive. He was still good but not lights out.

It was a ball the was dying short and away from his momentum. He was in a full sprint away from the ball and had to reverse his weight shift. It was the best throw Allen could make under the circumstances but it wasn’t an easy ball to catch. It shouldn’t have gotten to that anyway if they were efficient in the 1st 3 downs. -

For every Sky Moore they make up with a Rashee Rice and Xavior Worthy. Nobody hits all the time but they have definitely gotten their fair share in recent drafts. -
Confluence of a lot of things--Bills just didn't play well

We got a lot of lucky breaks as well. Got the turnover from Mahomes in the redzone and drove the field. That’s a 10-14pt swing. All of our fumbles were recovered by the offense. A couple of wacky throws from Allen early that could’ve been picks. Then, of course, the defense miraculously held KC to a fg on that last drive to give the offense and Allen a chance to be heroes. We got plenty of breaks to win this game. Just weren’t good enough. -

This is because KC is always thinking ahead during the regular season. They used Bills film study of their plays against them. Going into this game you can tell Mahomes would be using his legs extensively after not attempting a rush during the regular season meeting. Our coaching staff is always a day late and a dollar short. -

Yeah I know it’s blasphemy but I agree. There’s been 3 QBs in my lifetime that displayed this clutch trait consistently. They’re Montana, Brady, and now Mahomes. No surprise all three have multiple SB’s. -
It’s not the ‘85 Bears defense but they did managed to hold the 2 times defending champs to a fg with 3 minutes left. That gave our elite qb a chance to drive for the winning score. That’s all you could ask from your defense at that moment of the game. Flip the situation around. Had KC’s defense held Allen and the offense to a fg with 3 minutes left for Mahomes they’d be proclaimed as a top defense today because Mahomes and their offense would finish that game off with a TD. That’s what’s required from elite QBs to win championship games. We were in position and couldn’t execute. Another year another opportunity squandered by the offense in the waning minutes.
-
Even when they mess up it benefits them.
-
You mean have our elite qb execute a game winning drive with 3 minutes to go? Is that allowed?
-
I think the Eagles have a great shot. Dominant Dline and superior rushing attack. Both are things KC weaknesses. Plus they have the revenge factor on their side. And Vegas made them a slight dog which is perfect for me as I will be betting on them. But even if they manage to beat KC it won’t take the sting out of yesterday’s loss. That’s a Bills thing that only the Bills can resolve by beating KC in the playoffs.
-
Yeah maybe one of these years KC could play all backups on the oline so we could beat crush them the same way TB did that one time. Edit: Oh forgot to add that Mahomes played with turf toe that required surgery days after that game too. Yeah if only those conditions could exist for our playoff games with KC. I’d like our chances then.

Watch more and give it time. You will. This will be his narrative. Even Orlovsky, who’s usually very high on Allen and the Bills, alluded to a missed opportunity to win the game with 3 minutes left and the ball. Yeah Spags is brilliant. He was setting them up all game with that formation. Unleashed it at the most important moment of the game. That’s who our opponent is. Sometimes it just feels like the Bills are so outclassed when they go up against KC in the playoffs. However, that was 4th down. If we had executed the first 3 downs it wouldn’t have come to that. The offense had a shot and missed. That’s the game.
-
Hurts and Purdy don’t have to go through Mahomes to get to a Super Bowl. The bolded part cannot be stressed enough for people that keep on blaming the defense. They held KC to a fg so Allen and the offense could go be heroes. Flipped it around the other way. If KC’s defense held us to a fg with 3 minutes left so Mahomes could go win the game everyone would say that’s a great defensive stand etc. The difference is Mahomes and company usually come through, like in last year’s Super Bowl winning drive, and we falter. Two years in a row now with the exact scenario. At least last year we got to fg range. This year we couldn’t even do that.
-
Yes. Spags was setting them up. It’s his MO. Sometimes it feels like we’re so outmatched and outclassed. Year after year.
-
Setting the correct protection pre-snap was the issue here. He didn’t recognize what was happening and got fooled. But that was one heck of a throw for sure.
-
Still cracks me up that we gave Mahomes to the Chiefs
90sBills replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed. That’s the point. Realizing that and letting it affects your play is something he hasn’t learned to fully control. Some fans just don’t want to see it. There’s a reason we’re 0-4 against KC in the playoffs. -
It would’ve been nice if he slid protection to the right pre-snap.
