Did we do enough? I think we are getting there.

This is what happens to fans when the team can’t get it done. We play hypotheticals. -

Which means what? Indy beat the Chiefs last regular season too. Does that mean Indy is better than KC and wouldn’t have to worry about them anymore? Cincy beat KC in the regular season last year but lost to them in the playoffs. Do you think Bengals fans are bragging about that regular season win while the Chiefs went on to get another superbowl ring? Well maybe they do. They’re Bengals fans after all. Some fans gotta stop hanging on to meaningless regular season wins over KC. Chiefs still ended up with better playoffs seeding last year despite losing that regular season game. A great win for Buffalo but ultimately meaningless. I don’t care if Bills lose at KC this fall just beat them when it matters…in the playoffs. -

I must have missed when Bills beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. -
This is part of processing. He’s a tad slower than Mahomes on this aspect. He doesn’t see the whole field where all his guys are relative to where the defenders are. Protection issues definitely affect this but it’s also on him. Hopefully this part will be better next season. If it is then turnovers would go down and numbers of 5yds dump offs that goes for 20yds will go up.

Better OL will go a long way towards Allen elevating his game. This would improve his field vision. He needs to see every available outlet and make the right read. I’m hoping the amount of qb design runs would decrease. I’d much rather see him run when the defense is occupied with covering all the receivers. Then, most importantly, slide before contact. And like most of the comments above…better poise. He gets frustrated when things aren’t going well. Learn to control that emotion and overcome. Good topic op! This stat is only true because guess where most qbs operate? Yup in the pocket. So of course more qbs will be hurt there statistically. Agree with you. Josh needs to avoid contact.

Not sure if Manning did the dragging. Many at that time thought Peyton crumbled under pressure in those first four playoffs years. It took experiencing and learning from those failures that finally propelled him (and Dungy) past Brady/Belichick. Even in the game they broke through they were down 21-3 at halftime. I remember thinking Peyton was choking again as I watched. So there’s hope that both McD and Allen can learn from their past failures to finally propel them through.

I think you’re trying to diminish KC’s accomplishments here. Winning even one Super Bowl is hard. All Bills fans know this. Going to 3 and winning 2 in five years is incredible. Especially in this modern parity league. Closely contested or not superbowl wins are impressive. Pats first 3 superbowl wins were by 3 points. Nobody in their right mind would say those weren’t impressive because those games were closely contested. KC deserves all the praises they get now. Bills job is to knock them off.

How long does it take an NFL head coach to reach his 1st Super Bowl?

Completely agree with you here. There really isn’t any reason for the extension except good business from Pegula’s pov. -

I think there’s still room for Allen to improve. One of which is turnovers this past season. Take the playoff game against Mia. Bills jumped out to an early lead and should’ve cruised to a runaway victory. Then Allen got careless with the ball and started turning it over. People keep saying Skylar Thompson almost beat the Bills. But that was only possible because of all Allen’s poor decisions. That was not on coaching. Then that led to the game against Cincy where Allen was so tentative he didn’t seem like himself at all. He didn’t want to turn over the ball and that took away all his usual playmaking ability. Great players like Allen should step up on the biggest of stages. He has done that but not consistently. So I think there is still room for maturity and reflection on past performances. If you think this is the best Allen can be then the Bills really are in trouble. -

Coaching absolutely has an impact on those situations. Especially since they were playoff games. To me McDermott coaches too tight in the playoffs. Especially in crunch time and trying to close out games. He coaches not to lose so to speak. This has to permeate to the players. So they play tight trying to not make mistakes which inevitably will lead to mistakes. Since he’ll be the head coach for the foreseeable future I can only hope that he learns from past failures to succeed going forward. Obviously players also have tremendous impact on outcome of games. Especially the QB. As Allen matures he’ll have a reservoir past experiences to draw from that will help him. Tough situations that he could hopefully overcome where his previous versions couldn’t. -

If this happens it would be a first in NFL history. Truly unprecedented stuff. A coach has never won a superbowl outside of 5 years with the same qb. Last year was their fifth year together. -

Yes absolutely! We’re all in agreement with McDermott blowing 13sec. Allen absolutely did do enough to beat Mahomes in that game and it was heartbreaking to see how that turned out. But that’s 1 out of 3 games against the other top two qbs in the conference. He wasn’t great in the 1st playoff game against Mahomes and was completely terrible against Burrow this past season. He has to be better the next time. I think he’s the #2 guy behind Mahomes. Allen is more talented than Burrow imo. -

Not too many Bills fans would be on board with this. Most think Allen is an unmatched generational talent. So it’s easier to blame the coaching staff. Allen is an elite qb that is capable of winning it all. But he has to improve on some things to reach that goal regardless of who the coaching staff is. This upcoming season is a big test. He’s ‘focused’ solely on football now so let’s see where this goes. -
Do you have any examples of this or is this myth your opinion? Of course any great receivers will be great (meaning getting open) regardless of who’s throwing the ball. But the better the qb the more balls those receivers will get. It’s useless to get open but the qb can’t get you the ball. Look at Hill during the Smith years with KC. Diggs and Davis is a dynamic combo. It’s up to Allen (and Dorsey) to unlock that. There has been flashes but nothing consistent. Hoping for more consistency this coming season.
