McDermott is feeling the pressure
90sBills replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
Whenever anything that’s brought up about Allen’s inconsistent performance the board goes nuts protecting him. The truth is he has to improve in the big moments as well as McD. Absolutely! People keep dreaming about a defense that could stop Mahomes from a game winning drive in the big moments. It rarely happens. Elite QBs will score in those situations. That’s why it’s imperative that our elite qb needs to get points in that situation. That last drive in this past playoff game was a fail. Hopefully it sticks to Allen this offseason so he could be better next time. -

When it has happened this often you cannot chalk it up to dumb luck. One team (coaches and players) rises to the occasion while the other wilt. Attributing these losses to dumb luck will only further the same results. -

McDermott is feeling the pressure

Can we get past this? How could he have known who KC was picking ? It’s not like he’d draft Mahomes if they had kept the pick. He would’ve taken a defensive player at 10 as well. So he did the right thing by trading down for more picks. They landed on Allen the next year so all that is moot. KC has got their franchise guy. Bills got theirs. Everyone is happy. There are plenty of things to bash McD about without ever bringing this up again. lol -

I get that the defense hasn’t exactly been stellar in the brightest moments. It could be that facing guys like Mahomes and Burrow defenses aren’t going to hold up. Those guys will find a way to score if you give them the ball last. So when you get the ball back with a drive to win against Mahomes in the playoffs you gotta deliver if you’re that guy (and he is). You can’t fumble trying to fight for meaningless extra yards. You’d have to manage the clock and try to score last at the same time. It isn’t easy to do but that’s why there are elite QBs. It’s not just arm talent. Most of the time it’s the mental aspect of the game that separates winners and losers for the top of the top QBs. Hopefully this last playoffs failure could provide Allen with another learning opportunity and building block for the future. Next time he’s in that situation it might be a different outcome. -
He might beat out those other two guys.

This was how I took it as well. Until Allen takes that final step in his game I don’t think Bills can win a superbowl. -
Does Josh Allen still work as hard in the offseason?

Have a feeling this thread will drag into next offseason…or another iteration of this I’m sure. -

I doubt KC is complaining too much about it given the success they’ve had. We complain about Davis and Shakir around here. Those guys are all world compared to Moore and Hardman. Just hard to believe KC has won back to back while the Bills haven’t even sniffed the Superbowl. Just unbelievable. You’re talking about 5 yard crossers right? 😅 -
I don’t think it has and it’s hard to envision advancing further than divisional. But they still have to play the games so who knows. Let’s be optimistic.
-
It matters because these playoffs exits have proven that just having Allen is not enough. He needs help.
-
At best it’s even, roster wise, compared to last year. But it’s not a step back. Bills will still win the division and be #2 or #3 in the playoffs again. That’s where it will end. This roster hasn’t taken any significant steps forward in terms of talent so it’s difficult to envision getting past the divisional. That’s our ceiling the last few years and it won’t change.

Can’t believe the amount of people that didn’t immediately knew this is fake.

Is drafting Diggs replacement a priority in this draft?
90sBills replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
This has been the trend of the league the last few years. It forces offenses to be patient and matriculate the ball down the field. It works because not too many qb’s have the patience to do this without committing mistakes along the way. Yes we need a cheaper replacement for Diggs. That contract, along with Von’s, is a noose around this organization. But don’t expect the deep bombs to comeback with regularity regardless of which receivers Bills add. The game is about being patient and minimizing mistakes from the qb position. Methodically moving the ball down the field while playing keep away from your opponent. Of course that conversation will continue in the many many threads addressing it. lol -
Anyone else feeling pretty good with the Bills?
90sBills replied to SoonerBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I used to think this. Especially after 13 sec. Now it’s more ‘As long as the Bills have Allen there’s a chance of winning the division’. Winning a championship will depend on a lot more than having Allen as qb. -

Can I reserve my judgment until next Jan? Anything prior seems pointless. -
Comp picks are after the regular picks I believe. So essentially a little better. Especially if the Titans are bad again. They didn’t really gain an extra 7th either. Just flipped theirs with Tenn. Really just a case of getting whatever they can for a player they wouldn’t be able to keep.
-
He’s definitely a great player. But I thought he played just ok in the Super Bowl. Gave up that TD to Jennings. Then would’ve given up the go ahead TD to Jennings in OT if there wasn’t pressure from Chris Jones on Purdy.
-
They already have a stable of good corners ready to contribute. Even then they’ll probably draft a guy in the 7th that will be a star in 2 yrs. Kinda their MO at this point.
-
It depends on how good the Titans will do this coming season. That could be a pick in the 60s.
-
Isn’t McDuffie already a full time starter for them? I think Jaylen Watson will slide right in for Snead. Physical corner with a knack for the ball similar to Snead.
-
I mostly agree with you on your analysis. He’s a really good corner and will certainly be paid top 5 money for sure. But the days of lockdown corners taking away 1/2 the field are over in today’s NFL. It’s better to develop young db’s and help them by investing in pass rushers.

Does Josh Allen still work as hard in the offseason?
90sBills replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not to the extent that Mahomes is doing it. It’s basically an ota session without the coaches. He even has draft prospects working out with him during these camps. So him and KC get to scout them first hand and see which fits their system. Not sure how that’s legal to be honest. -
Would you change your mind once the financials are disclosed and they’re paying him 20m aav? I think teams knew KC couldn’t afford to have him on the roster so all the leverage was gone.
