Obama Campaign: We Need More White People
SilverNRed replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Is it weird that I would never notice something like this? -
From the link you provided: Explaining the "closeted Klan court" should be fun. (Good luck with this one. It's my absolute favorite.) Another gem. What are Cablanasian hips? How is "Condi-Skeezer" appropriate for church? What do any of these people have to do with the "10 million blacks who cannot read"? Why is Rev. Wright using successful black people as proof that the U.S. government has failed black America? You could also explain how promoting the idea that the U.S. government is holding black people down is healthy or productive in any way. This is all from one sermon (which you linked, apparently in "full context"), but it should keep you busy for a while.

Linking to someone else's blog won't save you (nor will calling someone a mongoloid). I want you to explain why you, Bishop Hedd, think Rev. Wright's statements are acceptable once they're put "in context." I've watched the YouTube videos and read the sermons and, if anything, they make him look worse. You're the one who said they were only offensive "out of context" so now you have to back up your statement as to why. I've spent an entire day asking you to "explain patiently" and all you've done is change the subject repeatedly. BTW, I obviously don't care if it's late and you have to sleep. I asked you to take your time, do your best to focus, and try to explain what you wrote earlier. So, again, explain why Rev. Wright's statements are alright "in context" and why similar controversial statements from conservatives don't get the same treatment from you. Don't link to someone's blog. Don't change the subject. And try not to resort to name-calling. And, again, take your time.
-
And like I said, since when do you speak for "everybody"? Still don't want to try to put Rev. Wright's statements "in context"? Wow, how shocking. C'mon, I'm sure everybody here would love to hear you explain how Rev. Wright's statements were "out of context" and also why you don't give conservative statements the same "out of context" treatment in similar situations. Don't rush your response this time. I want you to really concentrate and try to answer.
-
Since when do you speak for "everybody"? I asked you to explain how Rev. Wright's statements were acceptable "in context" (as you insist they are). Since then you've managed to talk about everything but that. I didn't ask you about Obama's speech nor do I see how "people can take from that what they will" has anything to do with what I asked you. So, again, please explain the proper context for Rev. Wright's quotes where they aren't just the rantings of a paranoid bigot. And while you're at it, explain why you don't give the same benefit of the doubt to conservatives. Take all the time you need.

Seven different teams in seven different cities in seven different states have won the World Series since 2000. Would you care to amend your "6 major cities" statement or would you like to just continue being wrong based on what the Pirates have been doing? So your proof that baseball is "going away" is Pittsburgh where the Pirates haven't had a winning record in 15 years and where the Steelers are perennial contenders and the Penguins have two of the best young players in the game? Probably not the best idea to base your analysis on one data point anyway. Yes, based on those attendance records both the major and minor leagues keep setting. More Pittsburgh stuff. Still not relevant. Name them.

Abstinance-only education is awesome

In that case, you shouldn't be mad at the religious right for believing in something and then voting that way. You should be mad at the people who disagree with how they're "ruining America" but can't be bothered to get off their ass and vote. I also think it's weird to blame the sex education in schools for these problems when parents could have a couple talks with their kids about this stuff (totalling less than 2 hours) and get the important information across. Oh, but that's yucky because parents aren't comfortable talking to their kids about sex. (BTW, drinking bleach?? I can't believe one person, let alone many people, are that !@#$ing stupid.) -
Buffalo, NY, must be the only place in the world where Larry Quinn could be considered a successful businessman. After a few decades of having a sucess rate of 0%, you'd think people might catch on to the fact that he's essentially a con man. Lucky for him, he has several hours of local radio each day dedicated to defending him. But, he's really done a lot for the area.
-
So baseball's "historical tradition" is why MLB and the minor leagues keep setting attendance records year after year?
-
Baseball should be huge in Buffalo. Toronto is 90 minutes away, and there are two incredible stadiums just 3.5 hours away in Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Every Mets and Yankees game is on TV and those stadiums are just a roadtrip away as well. NFL draft talk is fairly boring when you realize that no one in the world really knows what they're talking about.
-
That would require Buffalonians to have better ideas for their government than the politicians, which they do not. I've never seen any mass movement in Buffalo to shrink local government and get spending and taxes under control. I do remember when they opened that first Krispy Kreme donuts on Niagara Falls Boulevard and people freaked out and waited in line for hours to get their donuts.

The Sabres have been a lot more relevant to the NHL in the past 3 years than the Bills have been to the NFL in the last 10 years. So I don't mind the extra hockey talk. What I do mind is how just about every WGR host will defend Sabres management to the death. They basically haven't done anything right in two years but they don't deserve any criticism from the "stupid callers"?
-
No! NO! It was all "craftily edited" by FOX. They tricked you! [/bH] The funniest part about the people still trying to say that Rev. Wright didn't say anything wrong is that even Obama has said that he would have been offended had he happened to be in church any of the weeks when Wright said this crap (). And supposedly he would have left the church if Wright wasn't already retiring. ( )
-
There is no context to put his statements in to make them alright. Other than saying "Out of context! Out of context! Bwaak! Bwaak!" why don't you explain exactly how what he was saying was alright in context? If there's such a great context for these quotes, why don't you post it? The longer they play his videos, the more paranoid and racist he seems but I'm sure you have a great explanation for that. (BTW, you don't have to "craftily edit" "United States of KKK A" to make it inappropriate. Same goes for the US government creating HIV or the other things we've heard him say.)

ZING!! -
Pretty much. "Offended" isn't the right word, but I definitely don't like it. And I don't mind saying so.
-
I wouldn't say I'm being politically correct. I'd say I'm being judgemental. They have every right to run whatever ad they want. And I have the right to call them retards for it. If they want to sell vodka in Mexico by taking a shot at my country, then they should. Just don't ask me to like it. I think it's stupid and I wonder how smart the company could be if they approve an ad this dumb. (The same way I wondered how smart Sabres management could be after I saw how horrible their new uniforms were a couple years ago. Little did I know how right I would turn out to be.)
-
So offend the richest country in the world to sell vodka to the poor, backwards country that people are running out of by the millions each year? Also, I don't know if there's such a thing as running an ad "here" as opposed to "there" since, you know, we have this internet thingy and everyone sees everything.
-
It is a truly retarded ad.

So even though Hillary has been preparing to run for President for her entire life, her campaign has been a disaster. Yet somehow she's "ready to lead on day one." -
Really? And did he spend 20 years attending and donating to his church? Did he write glowingly about him in his autobiography? McCain doesn't have his own version of Rev. Wright, but good try. You still never explained how Wright's (many) comments were all "out of context" but I doubt anyone really expected you to. Oh, and good job going back to the old "I don't care what the Dems do, the RepubliKKKans are worse!" screed. Why don't you go back to defending that "intelligent" Eliot Spitzer guy?
