(OT) Review: Episode III Revenge of the Sith
SilverNRed replied to ajzepp's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was a trap. They wanted them to find Senator Palpatine. The armed forces are a bunch of clones who were engineering to be extremely loyal and follow orders (they mentioned that in AOTC). So even though they were friendly with Kenobi and Yoda, as soon as they got their order, they went right ahead and tried to kill them both. -

Here's another important thing I noticed about Episode III: The girl who played young Aunt Beru at the end was completely HOT! Gotta love them Tatooine honeys. -

Has the Bush Administration commented on the TSW rumor that Urkel died? Where are we on that one? Newsweak? Anyone? -
100 greatest films all time according to Time
SilverNRed replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Probably. I remember seeing ROTJ in the theatre (Rancor scared the hell out of me) but I was only 2 in 1983. However, it was re-released in 1985 so I can see my dad taking me to the movies as a 4 year old to check it out. -

Nope. In 1977, there was no "Episode IV" as part of the opening scroll. They added it in there for the 1978 re-release. (Re-releasing huge hit films was more prevalent back then due to less outlets for people to see films. No VCRs or cable channels. Star Wars was re-released several times.) -

So the solution is that every time a terrorist claims anything, our government has to go out of their way to specifically respond to it or else we'll have people jotting it down as the truth. Great. Has the Bush administration denied the existance of Hobbits? Which way to Middle Earth? Are Wookies real? -

Lucas did NOT have the entire story written back in 1977. According the Gary Kurtz (produced of SW and TESB), there was never any plan for a second Death Star in ROTJ and Luke's sister wasn't going to be Leia either. But Lucas decided to wrap things up nicely with ROTJ. I'm not convinced he knew what he meant by "Clone Wars" when he referenced them in the first movie either. There could be a lot of names for the war being fought in Episodes II and III but "Clone Wars" doesn't seem like one of them (why not Droid Wars or Civil War or whatever?). And if Lucas had had Jar Jar Binks in mind for 30 years, I don't know how he could have made it this long without killing himself. The voice alone........ -

If you go by screen time, Jar Jar was second only to Qui-Gon Jinn in Phantom Menace. Yes, that means there was more Jar Jar than Obi-Wan in that movie. -

Are you saying Phantom Menace had good acting? I thought Sith had very good acting. For once, it actually seemed like the actors had something to work with and I cared about what was going on on-screen. It was the first prequel that made me feel anything when I was watching it. -
Public Dissatisfied With Government
SilverNRed replied to Chilly's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Of course she's doing better in the polls (which I hate). Her job approval is high because her 'job' is easy. Just be classy and act as a goodwill ambassator for our country. If you're a person who actually has class (which I think she does) you'll excel at that job. If you're the President, it doesn't matter what you do because 40% of the country will hate it anyway. And that's considering most of the country is completely ignorant because they rely solely on the 'mainstream' media to get their news, which obviously sucks. -

I always thought part of the reason he died at the end of ROTJ was that he'd given up on the Dark Side, which was one of the things keeping him alive as Vader. Just got back from the movie and LOVED it. I loved how the handled the two fights at the finale. I got the sense Yoda could defeat the Emperor but that he couldn't do it fast enough and the Emperor was going to call in his armies (which he, of course, did). Anakin losing to Obi-Wan because he was too arrogant to know he was making a really bad move - great. And it makes perfect sense to me that basically all the galaxy's problems are because of a woman. I also loved how Anakin offered to kill the Emperor for her like it was no big deal. -
Newsweek F*cks America....AGAIN....

Nominee for reply of the year. Let's go line by line: which I am not a member of but merely tolerate because they are closer to conservative than the 'other' party in our wonderful two-party system I love the 'latest polls' and Lord knows they're never wrong.... Bye bye, country... ?? Cha-Ching! Godo thing we've identified which party is destroying the country to make a little extra cheese on the side. Good idea to put the scare quotes around "liberal media." Wouldn't want to acknowledge it exists despite the mountains of evidence at this point. The crusade started? Damn, where's my sword? I heard Orlando Bloom was helping..... Thread hijacking attempt. Right on schedule... -

I'm the Kool-Aid drinker and yet you're the one addicted to hotpockets. Interesting. Tell me, nozzlenut, which happens more often - you offer up some half-baked hotpocket soundbyte as an "idea" or you use "my husband is a Marine" as an out after you've gone way overboard with your drivel? -

That would require acting like an adult and not throwing several "I hate ___________" temper tantrums every day. -
Not content with good old-fashioned sloppy reporting, Newsweek has begun actively working against the United States overseas.... LINK Of course, that whole Liberal Media thing is a myth.

Anybody ever see comic Brian Regan?
SilverNRed replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's where you're wrong. When Jerry Seinfeld came to town back in summer of 2002, Regan was the opening act. I'd never heard of him but I thought he was awesome; I've been a fan ever since. He did get a 30 minute "Comedy Central Presents..." episode and if I'm flipping through the channels and see it's on, I usually have to watch it until it's over. He's great. There's not much else to say. -

NO WAR FOR OIL!!!!
-
Bringing democracy to the Middle East? Maybe we should congratulate him. See #1. We should congratulate the UN on THE greatest scam in the history of the world - Oil for "Food". The war was named Operation Iraqi Freedom back in March 2003 (see #1, #2). He got re-elected because 51% of American voters picked him. Ask the daughters. It's a volunteer army.

Military recruiters now banned from High School
SilverNRed replied to jimshiz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Of course not! Because he's such a sane, even-handed, and sensible guy. Hell, we should let him build whatever he wants as long as he probably won't threaten us with it and only kill people on that side of the world. Being the world's only superpower, it's not like problems on the other side of the world have a way of making their way over to our neighborhood. -
Newsweek F*cks America...
SilverNRed replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The "already burning bonfire" of our wonderful mainstream media giving more credence to the words of terrorists than our own military and government? You're right, what *is* the big deal? They do this all the time anyway! They'll be doing it again next week. Now would be a good time for all of us to get used to it. I don't remember the NYT, LA Times, Newsweek, CBS, ABC, CNN, or NBC lining up to shine the light on the incredibly faulty methodology behind the 'study' released last November that claimed 100,000 Iraqi civilians had died since the start of the Iraq War. They just let that one slide and we still have idiots - including people on this message board and even that nutty Scot George Galloway just this week - who cite that study as Gospel. Anything that negative towards this administration and towards our military must be true - and if it isn't, it's "fake but accurate" (our media's new rallying cry).
