  1. We need a more athletic safety than Damar Hamlin. Damar lacks the anticipatory skills and range of a budda Baker. The answer on the roster in my mind is Lewis Cine. I read they are trying him at linebacker which is so Billsey. We are being torched by opposing QBs. Damar is there after the catch, it appears on many plays. The referees so affected Monday’s game, it’s difficult to assess an overall performance of the defense. That said the play at the end of the half should not have happened and that’s on the safeties.
  2. Josh’s injuries have impacted his pocket presence. Also credit the Baltimore and Houston defenses for effectively pressuring Josh the last two games, and beating him up even more. The faintest pressure is causing him to move in the pocket; even when he hasn’t had to. That combined with some hesitancy to run (due to injury I think) has resulted in poorly thrown passes and more incompletions than we used to seeing. Of course the new receiving line up plays a part in the dynamics of pressure and a scrambling qb. If they don’t do what they are supposed to Josh doesn’t get receivers coming back to the ball or he hits them in the helmet.
  3. Allen had the yips yesterday. On a couple plays he took off when he didn’t have to and on others, he had real estate and chose to throw bad passes instead. His protection was inconsistent again this week which is ingredient number one to yipage. Since he had little preseason play, he (and the entire league ) is forced to work out problems over the first five games. Lack of real game experiences with this receiving corp is part of the issues we see. Roster and scheme issues really hurt Allen yesterday. WTF is Hollins doing starting over anybody? Why is Allen hurling bombs from the end zone when all he needs is 10 yards on three plays ? Is he listening to his coaches? He passed up open guys again yesterday to try low percentage long passes. Just like the decision against the chiefs last year in the playoffs. We still have some hero ball issues at times. But that’s Josh. He blows your mind, and can break your heart.
  4. Dark Clouds: 1. Not enough pressure from our front four. 2. Mack Hollins plays 39 plays a game too much. Two brutal drops today. 3. Cook should be on the field all three downs, why replace him with inferior players. 4. Run Curtis Samuel down the field, quit using him like Isiah MacKenzie. 5. Was Ken Dorsey calling plays in the fourth quarter? The sequence at the Houston 10 and at the end of the game was as brutal as anything Dorsey dreamed up. 6. McDermott is Chuck Knox. We are post season doomed.
  5. What of Lewis Cine? We need playmakers, and this kid has more size and speed than Hamlin or Cam Lewis. It would be a shame if he just languished on the practice squad while we struggled on the field. Sunday will tell us much about the resiliency of this defense.
  6. The defense lost its composure against Baltimore. There were some missing f@cking millionaires on the d-line Sunday night. The safeties and linebackers (save Williams) were in a boggle. It’s time to work in Lewis Cine in the safeties and maybe some Buffalo Joe or Nick Morrow in the middle. I hope Babich will bring in some new energy on the D. We need some heat seeking missiles. The bills were embarrassed, that’s gotta sting. Make Houston pay boys.
  7. If he can’t kick, let’s try him at back up quarterback. The Mitch is inept. Could be second coming of Jared Lorenzen.
  8. McDermott needs to call the missing persons bureau, maybe they can find the six millionaires who occupy spots along the defensive line.
  9. Is this all it takes for the haters to come out? The Ravens were a more desperate than the Bills last night. Baltimore was 13-4 last year, where did they end up? Come to Buffalo in January fellas. We are 3-1. It’s not the end of the world. Better this should happen in September. McDermott and Babich will adjust. More importantly, those players will step up. The ass whopping we laid in the fins still counts. I do not fear Houston, their offense looks just ok. Look at the Super Bowl champion jets, how would you like to be a fan of that? I’ll take our team and coaches ! Accept and move on bit@hes!
  10. Couldn’t you have started another “trade for a new kicker” thread instead.
  11. (L)Dude Ever notice old man Cartwright is the same age as his sons? (R)No wonder they all get along on the Ponderosa….its like —-ok Pa you go into town with little Joe, I’ll stay here with Hop Sing. (R) Dude—I don’t think Bonanza is a realistic depiction of the old west. (L) Oh man they totally should do a re-make with Trevor as Little Joe….
  12. NFL and gambling partners were pushing the fins. Then somehow “heart attack “Hamlin’s arm is three times harder than Tua’s helmet. Yes investigate they shall. Who is this MaJarkis Ingram? How did the Bills make the Fins look like a JV team Coached by a nutty professor. Two picks from an $915k player against $300 million in offensive players! It’s an outrage! He could have been AFC Defensive Player of the week, instead….he’s a marked man. Love it really. Enjoy it JaMarcus. I hope your urine is clean dude.
  13. Terrific moment for that team. How nice it must be to have a kicker who will line up and put it through without everybody calling their analyst for an appointment because the moment fills them with dread and remembrances of games lost.
  14. These were usfl point leaders among kickers. Dallas picked Brandon Aubrey from this league, come on Bean fly them in on Terry’s Winnebago .
  15. While I am partial to blue on blue, I am more interested in this new group of Bills chloroforming the ugly history of Jacksonville games. Give Doug Pederson that “where the f**k did I park my car look” at the horror of his team’s demise. The dogs on Main Street Jacksonville will bay for some new flavor coach.
  16. I glad McDermott is challenging him by bringing in completion. They are looking for a response from Bass. Buffalo needs a kicker who can line up fearlessly with the likes of Butker, Fairbairn Tucker. Fairbairn has six FG over 50 yards already. (While that is good kicking, it’s also indicative of an anemic offense) Great move by McBean to address the problem early in the year. It would gut the team if Bass fails us in another big situation. Then it’s back to the kitty shelter full time.
  17. We beat him again. His season is swirling around in the bowl. I don’t get the hate. He’s an interesting guy who lives in a metropolis and dresses the part. I enjoy the fact that he is decidedly not like most football coaches—-ensconced in bro- manism. Lighten up Francis (es).
  18. August 3 SI- “The length of Hill's contract with the Dolphins remains the same — it expires after the 2026 season — — but what's changed are the guarantees. Before the restructure, Hill had no guaranteed money left on his deal after the 2024 season. Hill still will make $90 million over the next three years, but what's changed is the guaranteed money, per the ESPN report. The restructured contract will give him a four-year total, including 2023, of $106.5 million guaranteed, the most ever for any wide receiver.” If Miami had any issues with this guy, they would not have done this deal. Additionally, a trade would scream that they are giving up in 2024. Only a football trade, for a qb and some lineman would make any kind of sense for the phins. Few teams have those kind assets. Parting with them to add a guy mid season is a giant risk for a trade partner. Hill’s picture is shown under the word “mercurial” in the dictionary. Miami will grind their way out of this or fail in the attempt. To do otherwise is to show no belief in your organization and coaches. Miami has created a financial meteor storm for themselves in the coming years, a blessing for us.
  19. McDermott and Babich will clean up the defense against the fins. The Bills will grind, and Josh Allen 🤔 will fillet the fish. Bills by 8.
  20. This just in: My friend, who knows a front office guy on the Bills super well, told me the real reason they didn’t draft Xavier Worthy is that he is an accomplished holder. They were afraid of upsetting team chemistry.
  21. According to Spotrac, punters earn an average of $1,520,940 per year. This figure represents the average salaries for the special teams unit in the NFL for the 2023 season. The Bills are paying Martin $2M for three years. This puts him in the middle of the pack for punters in the NFL. The decision to hurry into a deal was a poor one considering how much they punt the ball. A rookie would have served them as well for under a million. The team has bungled the position in recent years. Bojo was a much better punter than any of the yo’s they’ve brought in since. One article cited holding as a possible issue for the decline in Tyler Bass’ effectiveness because that was the only difference they could see from the outside. Hardly scientific. If the ball wasn’t being placed properly for Bass, don’t you think that would be fixed by lunchtime? Other players could hold if the punter wasn’t capable. They have a salary problem with a player who has the yips. Maybe they could hire that shrink from the “Natural”. “ missing kicks is like a disease as bad as bubonic plague.…”
  22. An awful lot will depend upon the Bills overall situation should Josh Allen be injured; what their record is, how many games are left. If the season were seven games old or less and If Mitch Trubisky played badly, Beane wouldn’t sit on his hands. There are other quarterbacks who could be obtained. CJ Beathard is on the street, and there are others. But Beane is not going to go out and make a deal now, he has money invested in Trubisky. Do I wish Mitch looked better, for sure. I’m not going to wring my hands over the wreckage of the future——not while Josh Allen is healthy.
  23. Why is Shorter even on the Practice Squad? Two bites at the apple and he is no farther along. This year was his golden opportunity; only 1 out of 5 receivers was around last year. Pfff. Time to move on. He can’t even stay on the field in games that don’t matter. Hey McBeane snag a PS prospect from the rams, or the 49ers, teams that consistently draft receivers who actually play in the nfl.
  24. This is a weird trade. This kid doesn’t know your defense, he’s another one trick special teamer. McDermott just can’t get out of the past. He always short changes the main units of the team for these limited use guys. Hamler or Isabella bring speed to your offense and perform return duties. Is the net return yardage going to win games? I think fast receivers help you more, even if they are merely decoys 60% of the time. Or keep TeCory Couch, he played some good ball. It’s difficult to believe nobody in the building can return kicks. This is not the roster thread but I find their decision making quite puzzling at times. For all the talk about Shavers he doesn’t appear on the 53, but Baylon (forever injured ) Spector is on there. Morris over Davidson, though the latter is a better receiver. Well, coming back around to this trade, I’m sure the jets traded Codrington because he was too good. Beane’s genius will shine through and I’ll eat my hat when he scores against NYJ.
