Who cares. He's not here. Either way, $3 is chump change. RB is hardly our greatest issue.
-
Keep in mind though he hasn't had more than 13 carries and this is only his second start. It will be interesting. Cook isn't a 3-down RB. Never will be. Singletary can be.

Nice! Point being, the vast majority of "Bills Mafia" have no recollection.

It was also a whole lot easier to win a Championship in a 10 or 12-team league than a 32-team league. For our intents and purposes there are three eras of pro football. The pre-AFL/NFL merger era. The 1970 to early '90s free-agency era. The era from then 'til now. The best era of football by my preference was from the AFL/NFL merger until full bore free agency. Why not. During the Ryan era we won the offseason championship. During this era we've won the Culture championship. So why not that too.

Especially when hardly anyone younger than 70 would even have had any cognizance of that era, much less specifically our AFL championships. Ironically they beat Buffalo 28-0 that season. What's with that pose? Good caption pic.

That is one perspective. Here’s a contrary one however. We’ve had the second-easiest schedule of any team in the league to date. Among the 8 remaining games, they include two teams that have already beaten us, with QBs Wilson and Jones; Three current division leaders which include last season’s two Super Bowl participants, with all three of those games being on the road; One team that will in every likelihood make the playoffs sitting behind one of those division leaders; and @ another where we haven’t won in six tries since Knox was our coach and Ferguson our QB. Denver on MNF is the odd team out of that mix. Our start equals the start we had in 2017, 2015, 2014, 2011, 2008, 2007, 2002, and 2000. Our record in those seasons respectively was ... 9-7 8-8 9-7 6-10 7-9 7-9 8-8 8-8 Our QBs in those seasons were Taylor (twice), Orton, Fitzpatrick, Edwards (twice), Bledsoe, and Johnson respectively. We have Allen! Our remaining schedule is more difficult than for any of those seasons. Monday’s game is critical at this point. Absolute must-win, and even then it’ll be uphill. Lose, and I suppose that the wheels start coming off completely and Pegula needs to step in, perhaps not now, but at the end of the season for sure. McD’s had 8 days to prepare, not that he understands what preparing actually is, nonetheless. Payton’s had two weeks. And again, not that what any one of us thinks or says actually matters, but as a contrary perspective. For those thinking that we beat Miami as a feat of significance, consider that Miami has beaten no one relevant, not one team that is presently seeded for playoff contention. The only team with more than 3 wins that they've beaten is the 4-4 Chargers, and only by 2 in a come-from-behind last-minute win. They’ve had a similarly easy schedule and the third easiest in the league. So it’s quite likely that our win over them is less relevant than we originally thought.

This offense is bereft of any identity. At the beginning of the season someone posted a thread about what to name the O as a nickname. How about the Identity Crisis Offense. It has no methodology, no particular style of play. No systematic approach. Nothing. The proof in the pudding there is if we ask what the offense, for example, is based on. The answer is essentially how hot Allen is and whether or not he can overcome key play-calling at certain times that render some seriously questionable calls. That's not a methodology, it's nonsense. Or at key times what the thinking is behind some of McD's challenges and decisions that buck conventional wisdom. Just two examples. Defensively it's whether or not we get TOs. It's shoot-from-the-hip every game now. Worse yet, like last week, the come out and score easily on the first drive. McD's questioned as to why they didn't continue to do that, and the answer is that they wanted to try different styles of play. I mean honestly, it's like he got stoned before that presser. Time for a new head coach. Period! Time to find one that actually sticks with what's working, not using a game to do what should be done in practice, camp or preseason. Not to mention one that can have the offense regularly string together a bunch of 8+ play drives, scoring or not, and moving the ball with regularity. It shouldn't be very difficult at all with a QB like Allen. But that coach has to know what they're doing. I mean honestly, between idiocy like that and candidly stating that you have no idea what's wrong, when that is a monumental clue, and stating that you don't know what or how to correct it, ... I mean really! If that doesn't say CEILING, not quite sure what does. It sure as hell doesn't shout out competence. If he doesn't know he doesn't know. Find someone that can figure it out and put it together. Instead, we have a contingent here that keeps supporting this nonsense under the notion that one of these years he'll figure it out. When, once Allen's gone? Yeah, that's an odds-on proposition. LOL It doesn't seem so given his own statements. What seems evident is that if someone in a high position at a company told their boss that they didn't know what to do or how to do it, they'd either be reassigned, fired, or asked to resign. But here, we simply pat the vacuous leader on the back and say better luck next season, eventually you'll come around. Let's hope you don't hand another playoff game to the opponent in the remaining seconds. Except now we can't even get to that point. How is it even possible to effectively sugarcoat the situation. It's poor. It's stunning that McD hasn't lost the team yet. And make no mistake, Dorsey's also in well over his head, but ultimately McD's sticking with him like he stuck with Peterman, despite not one of his own coaches, or OCs agreeing with him, and absolutely not a single fan or media person agreeing with him. Wash/rinse/repeat now with Dorsey. Poor Rick Dennison and Daboll in his first season. But McD isn't a control-freak. Sure. McD's situation is understandable. If he actually hires a competent OC there will be fireworks on the sidelines and eventually, if that OC ends up being good, he'd replace McD. That's why he's standing behind Dorsey. Pegula's got a decision to make before STs with PSLs go on sale. People aren't going to rush to commit to buying them with this nonsense afoot, and with thoughts of the post-Allen era on the horizon when McD can't even have this offense humming along anywhere close to optimally, and in Allen's 6th season.

I wouldn't say that I don't mind being beaten, but it's easier to take when you get beaten after playing your absolute best, or at least knowing that your team showed up fully prepared and looked the part. We've seen everything but that. Our team has shown up looking as if they don't even know who they are, as if the first half is practice before the "real game" begins in the 2nd half, play-calling not matching situations, despite the mindless blathering that "we're playing situational football" when we're obviously not, running plays that make no sense in key situations, on both sides, etc. Imagine what Pegula would think if we those going to games paid $7 up front and said that they'd leave the rest in a bucket once they got in under the honor system. Most of it points to coaching, and the entire teay is disarrayed and dysfunctional, and it's obvious. That's no fun, and even if we win like that because Allen has a huge game, sure, it's a win, but it's still leaves dissatisfying elements in it. Just my two cents.

McD will be watching carefully for coaches that he can poach.

Bills held players only meeting this week (For real this time)

And both teams made the Conference Championship game. So if McD takes us to the AFC CG he'll have a reprieve. That's fair. -
Out-executing opponents is the way to go. TOs help swing games but shouldn't be relied upon. We have not outexecuted anyone over the past five weeks.
-
Turnovers are not a sustainable method for winning games. We beat Miami with assistance from TOs, and got them but didn't need them in wins over the Raiders and Skins.
-
Daboll was incredibly overrated. Dorsey's inexperienced and it shows. Neither optimized our offensive potential. Allen has made both look better than they are. I'm fairness to Daboll, Dorsey also inherited a fully seasoned Allen. Allen began developing on Daboll's watch. The comp isn't Apples to apples. It's clear what Allen & the offense need. Whether he gets it remains to be seen. That's up to Pegula. Pegula had better start thinking about ST/PSL sales to his new digs though. Not sure there's going to be a rush to buy STs at twice the current prices plus PSLs given the current state of the team.

National media are starting to grind their collective axes

Yes. Or if context with my original comments. I don't mind discussing something else, but beach it as a separate topic. -
Are people really that unhappy with our 4-2 Bills?
PBF81 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
Don't most of 'em. In fact, the only reason I poked in on this one at 14 pages, is to see how far it had traveled from its title. -

Now you're off on a tangent. 😉 -

If the choice were making the playoffs for 12 years straight, never advancing past the divisional round, and winning the division every one of those years, ... ... or ... Winning a Super Bowl, not making the playoffs for five more seasons, and making them sporadically after that also never advancing past the divisional round, ... ... I'd wager a guess that if you posted that poll, the vast majority would take the Lombardi and be content. Especially those of us that went through the '90s and the Kelly/Smith era. I don't hear anyone bragging that we went to four straight Super Bowls. In fact, it's become a consolationi prize punchline anytime it comes up and people realize that we're Bills fans. Just sayin' We can't even improve from our best season in '21. -
That right there sums it up.

I'm still going to disagree, here's why. Over the past five drafts, KC has at least tried to get that support by drafting 3 WRs on days 1 or 2 of the drafts, in this case all in round 2. We haven't drafted a single WR on days 1 or 2 on Beane's watch. We finally drafted Kincaid this year, Beane's 6th draft. So while none of their WR draftees have stepped up yet, if they even ever will, at least they've made the effort over there. Also, their OL has been notably better than ours. I'm pretty sure Reid and Mahomes would like to have better WRs again and with Rice pending, whose having a decent albeit not superlative rookie season.
-
He's a TE. So you'd rather Allen had Kelce and KC's WRs, than Kincaid and ours? You think that Kelce, rookie Rashee Rice, junk journeyman Justin Watson, and JAG Valdes-Scantling, along with Pacheco, are better than ... Diggs, Davis, Kincaid, Shakir, and Cook? Well, OK. I'll have to strongly disagree however. So much so that it was apparent to me anyway that KC's offense wouldn't be playing anywhere near the level that it's been prior to the season even starting as I stated numerous times here, while taking incredible heat for being a moron in that way I might add.
-
And which of KC's WRs do you consider to be something other than JAGs?
-
What, our current issues? Both One would think. Neither am I, but let's take our highest draft picks and assess those. Consider our Days 1 & 2 picks only. 1st: Oliver, trade-up 1st, Groot, Elam 2nd: AJE, Cook 3rd: Knox, Brown, Bernard Not even a sniff of an elite player among them. Not even a consistent impact player. We don't know a lot, but it's a safe bet that McD controls Beane's drafts more than we know. Given the circumstances it might be naive to think differently. I would not argue that. But still, we've ignored offense all but entirely on days 1 & 2. When you drafted Allen, that's idiotic. Some of it has to befall Beane. IMO if Pegula ever musters up the gumption to ditch McD, Beane needs to go as well, although I would agree with you, McD is the greater problem. Beane has little if anything to do with in-game adjustments or decision making on the field, preparation, etc. At this point I'd be satisfied to part with McD and his ex-Carolina staff. I'd get rid of both, but as you argue, McD is the greater issue, largely due to the in-game issues, preparation for games, and now the ridiculous fact that he's essentially admitted that he's in over his head. He has made some good picks, but keep in mind, those picks, Miller for example, had to be made because his drafts were not producing. And if your theory that McD hasn't made optimal use of the players that Beane has provided is accurate, how can we explain the fact that he's made good use of some free agents in contrast? Von Miller, Floyd, Diggs of course, Jones, Poyer, Hyde among a few others maybe. Thanks! Good input from you as well.
