I don't even credit Belichick. I credit Charlie Weiss and ultimately Josh McDaniels who despite his failures as a HC was a solid OC. Brady had a head for the game that may be second to none in history. Allen's bright, but he also seems to be a little too disconnected at times. Who knows whether it was the distractions re: Brittany, Steinfeld, his obsession with golf, etc. One thing's clear, coaching should be mentoring him in some way. If at that point he's still disengaged, then that's another story.

I would strongly argue that. While we scored more points, still only 20, last season at Orchard Park, than we did in either of the other two games, it was our worst offensive output game of the three. The Jets outplyayed us, 19 1st-Downs to our 14, 233 passing yards to our 130, 309 total yards to our 232, thier 8-for-17 3rd-Down converstion rate to our 2-for-13. Also nearly a 10 minute time-of-possession. That was with Mike White. We'll see. I don't envision Pegula eating that extension, but if we happen to lose to the Jets at home, FUGLY's not going to be the word and will be understated. The fans at the game will openly revolt and sound like a booing chorus. The two easiest games left on our schedule are the Jets and Pats, which have both beaten us, and I'm not sure which is worse, but I'd argue that the Jets are, but either way, if Denver was a must-win game, this one even more so. I don't see how McD doesn't lose the team with a loss here. Let's see how it plays out first. Maybe we'll win 41-13. Keep in mind that Saleh also has the Jets believing that they have a shot at the playoffs, and with a win vs. us it's a better shot than we have at that point. Their remaining schedule isn't nearly as difficult as ours is.

Well, right there. And this goes back to McBeane despite their apologists not wanting to see that. Can't understand why McD's not taking more heat for the lack of Allen's focus, development, preparation, etc. If his choice for OCs can't do it, then he needs to personally step in. This isn't D-III ball. It's impossible to sugarcoat anymore. Any semblance of "winning culture" has been immolated by McD. It's stunning that he hasn't lost the team yet. Maybe he has, but if not, it's surprising. Either way, the last five years have been a clinic on if you're going to trade-up and draft a QB at 7th overall, you damn well better be prepared to stock him with an OL and some solid receiving options immediately after that to the best of your ability. But no, not here. We continue to pour resources into, and even repeatedly, into our defense. SMH Here, McBeane treated the OL and receivers like an afterthought! Shameful. Many have been saying it for years, but now those chickens have finally come home to roost.

While this isn't the case, at least I can't imagine, he is acting like a guy that wants to get fired and collect four years worth of headcoaching extension money.

9-8 you mean. Someone maybe, as you imply ,not likely sometwo. LOL As you say, the odds of us getting a tiebreaker are closer to zero for us than for any other team, besides of course the Raiders, which we beat. They have a tough schedule. Right now the entire AFCN is in the picture, ironically Cincy's currently the odd team out with Burrow's varying injuries. Baltimore's good and would have to completely collapse to not make it, but Pitt and Cleveland both have relatively easy schedules. Of the four 6-3 teams, they all have to go only 4-4 to hit 10 wins, obviously. Houston has 8 games left with a relatively easy schedule, 5-3 gets them to 10-7. Indy at 5-5 also has a relatively easy schedule left. First things first. Brady's getting thrown to the wolves here. In our last three games vs. the Jets we've averaged 17.7 Points, 1-2/3 TDs, 17.3 1st-Downs, 177 Passing Yards, 288 Total Yards, and have had only 1 Passing TD in all three games. Any talk of playoff all but officially ends if we lose this game. Saleh and the Jets appear to have our number. If I watch the game it's going to be purely out of sheer morbid interest.

If we were ever to trade Allen, to any team, McD will end up being one the most hated coaches we've ever had. If he were to get traded and step up his play, even more so. Won't happen on Beane's watch. Pegula would also be about as popular as Bon Jovi was during the sale of the team. -
It has generally speaking been wretched in the playoffs. Another indication of his having hot a ceiling is that a a supposed defensive expert, he's constructed a fast-paced attacking D. But when it's getting abused or the situation doesn't call for it, we can't generally seem to do much else.

LOL, well, that schedule does have something to do with it. What are the Vegas odds that we go 5-2? Which is given our schedule. That would aid in defining whether or not that's insane. I have to think that ..., well, they're insane. LOL Or the odds that we get a Wild Card? Be a great prop bet with a huge payday. ... or rather an insane payday. 😁 BTW, there are five teams currently seeded lower than we are. We lost to two of them, and if a third beats is on Sunday they'll be ahead of us too. Let's revisit after the Jets game. We're due one of our blowouts. But if we do lose, I'm guessing that our chances would be all but non-existent.

Put Allen on those teams! It's a wet dream just thinking about it. -
That depends upon how one defines insane. We're one conference loss away from having no chance apart from running the table otherwise. That's pretty insane. If Miami wins the division they're essentially zero. Bless your optimism though!
-
Convince you of? Not really trying to convince you of anything. Simply responding to what I consider to be flaws in your scenario analysis and logic. The odds of us getting in as a wild-card are all but nil. For a Wild Card, the math most certainly does have to get insane. As to giving up, you'd have better hope that the new stadium is completed a year ahead of schedule. "Giving up" is immaterial and irrelevant. We don't have zero chance. Our chance is however directly linked to winning the division, and as stated, Miami given their schedule, isn't even remotely likely to finish 3-5, which is probably what it would take. How about simply beating the Jets first. If we can't beat them fairly decisively, given our other losses, it's pretty unlikely we even win many more games at all.
-
You do realize that we have the worst conference record of any other team that's in mathematical contention, right? IOW, a tiebreak isn't getting us in. It would have to be a division win. If Miami didn't have a similar siht schedule that we've had to date, maybe we'd win the division even if only at 8-9, but they do. If Miami can beat the Raiders, Jets, Washington, and Titans, four of the worst teams in the league. they'll likely have the division wrapped up.

Will a win over the Jets to get to 6-5 bring everyone back in?!?!

How much mileage you gonna get try and get out of "winning culture"? Either way, you appear to be fighting an uphill battle now.

LOL Or, maybe you need to come up with better arguments. How much mileage you gonna get try and get out of "winning culture"? Either way, you appear to be fighting an uphill battle now.

I know that you're a McD apologist, or at least lean heavily in his favor if you disagree with that, so take these comments in that context. The Ryan era was an unmitigated disaster, but there was some warning when Ryan said that his next coaching job would be his last. That's not a trait of someone that cares whether or not he does a good job. Not saying he didn't care, just saying that it wasn't a good sign. Having said, that, Ryan didn't have great talent either. We can do a position-by-position analysis if you want. Might be fun in these dry times. Here's the thing about "culture," it's somewhat of a nebulous thing. The term gets thrown around, but how is it specifically defined. But that appears to be his greatest achievement here as it's always the very first thing out the the mouths of McD apologists. Allow me to ask however, what's the "culture" right now, today, at this moment? I don't think that it can be defined as a "winning culture" as his apologists like to assign it. As to "winning games, breaking the drought and having a couple of good playoff runs," he was barely above .500 in his first three seasons. 25-23 That Peterman thing hangs over him and have been rehashed now in the questioning of his leadership abilities. As minor as it may be, it's become a black stain. We made the playoffs twice, but in 2017, two other teams had an identical 9-7 record that did not make it, and were both better teams. We beat only two winning teams that season, both 10-6. Otherwise we beat 7 bottom-dwelling teams. We were embarrassed in the playoffs by a former Bills coach featuring a below-average QB. We also needed help (aka luck) from something that we had absolutely no control over. In 2019 we made the playoffs, but lost a Wild-Card game, again, with McD once again being outcoached. So any "playoff run" boils down to 2020 - 2022 where we've only been able to win a Divisional game once, in that ill-fated '21 season where McD did anything but play up to "winning culture" in that 13-Seconds game. Keep in mind that we got lots of help in doing what you suggest, by Brady leaving New England, essentially leaving us to supplant New England as the only decent team in the division. To wit, McD was 0-6 vs. NE with Brady until Allen's breakout season, and when Brady was no longer with the Pats. So the skids were already greased for him there. Our lackluster playoff outcomes are more indicative. So I'm not sure how you define playoff runs, but we've won only one divisional playoff game in his 6 seasons with his 7th likely not even making the playoffs. Again, where's that leave that "winning culture" thing? I'd suggest that the culture isn't positive right now. Do you think it is? If Pegula even pulls the trigger, and I have my doubts that he will, where would that leave us from a "culture perspective?" I'm not suggesting anything, seriously asking, but the word tentative comes to mind. We likely won't know until things happen. Pegula risks looking like the biggest incompetent in the mix if he does ditch McD given that he just signed him to four more seasons that haven't even begun yet, rather than waiting, which would have been very wise, to see whether what has happened might happen. If you recall however, following the 2019 season there were plenty of questionmarks and criticism of McD and his "Process," which to date still hasn't even remotely been defined. It's nothing more than a meaningless buzzword. It wasn't until 2020, when Allen broke out, not McD, Allen, that our "winning culture" became prominent, and again, that also coincided with the Brady-less Pats. The three other QBs in our division that season were the rookie Tagovailoa, Darnold, and Newton. ... for about half of our wins. Now, look where we are. Can it be overemphasized where our culture is at the moment? There's a major pall over Bills fandom and the coverage of the team, and clearly somethings' going on in the lockerroom as well, not positively. The point, the point is that if he, not Allen, actually created it, he's also equally responsible for destroying it now, which raises that chicken/egg aka McD/Allen question. Anyway, food for thought.

What’s your opinion of Gabe Davis on this play?
PBF81 replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
My thoughts as well. Once he gets past the Corner he may as well turn outside, at least that way he can keep his momentum going with only the S to beat for a longer gain or TD. Who knows whether he had that lattitude. Fine play though. -

Batman! -
I just thought of this. With the litany of QBs that we had prior to Allen, McD may have been a good choice to make the most of a bad situation, but not Super Bowl aspirations perhaps. But given Allen, clearly not.
-
My basis for evaluation is simple, are you doing the best possible with what's at your disposal. Clearly not the case re: McD. As I often say, if you get beat by a team/coach that was good and brought their best in a week-fought game, while tough, is acceptable. That's not his/our case. It's quite the opposite in fact, and continually in key games. The other thing is that the head coach is just that, the head coach. When you have so many systemic failures, at some limit, seemingly endless at this point, it's gotta be the head of the operation. BTW, I put the failure and underachievement of our high-ranked D's on that category. That's been my beef with this nebulous "culture" thing. It's more like a fraternity than a business model.

Waaay too many rookie mistakes several seasons into his career. He hasn't ironed them out. Even if the teams plays optimally, he can't be expected to not botch it for us. His teams are unprepared, and name the times when he's out-coached his peers. It's not many.

Ya know, that right there!
