Davis takes a lot of heat for a WR that gets paid as little as he's been paid. It'd be one thing if he were brought on at $10/season or something, but he's far from that. His original contact w/o escalators was less than $1M/season. It seems that a lot of the dissatisfaction with Davis would be more appropriately directed at Beane. But he appears to be off-limits in this context. As a reminder, Davis was a late 4th-round pick, the 22nd pick in the 4th. He's done just fine considering. Will he be worth what he'll get in free-agency? Probably not. Could we use an upgrade, sure. But that's not Davis' fault.

Still the onset of a trend if it happens. Kind of like us not winning @ the Chargers. We haven't won out there in six games going back over 40 years. Right or wrong, makes sense or no sense, it's still a trend. Agree with Gunner, we find a way to win tomorrow. But we'll see.

I can't stop laughing! First of all, what about the pass to Hill on the prior play? What the pro-McD excuse for that one? Secondly, here's a clip of that Kelce play. I'd absolutely love to get your take, not the rest of the forum's, but your take on the "communicational breakdown" between Wallace and Poyer, who were what, 25 yards away from each other, with Wallace clearly the cover responsibility on Kelce? What was the breakdown? What was each "supposed to do?" ... Many would suggest that maybe Poyer shouldn't have been nearly 30 yards away from any play and backpeddling on the snap. How is that a "communication breakdown" between the two players? Did you mean a communication breakdown between Poyer and the sideline? Poyer's 27 yards from the line-of-scrimmage, and 20 yards from Wallace. Poyer immediately begins backpeddling when the ball is snapped, and doesn't even begin to reverse his momentum until Mahomes throws to Kelce. So I'm all ears as to this supposed breakdown between Wallace and Poyer who weren't even near each other, with Poyer nowhere near any receiver, much less Kelce. Let's also keep in mind that McD called a timeout immediately prior to that play, presumably to get it right. He certainly had plenty of time to think things through. Blaming anyone but McD for that loss is at least partially misguided. Has there ever been a coach that's taken less heat for the major gaffs of his own team than McD? Yeah, that goes without saying. That's fair, and I don't begrudge him doing that. He and the rest of the staff have to say whatever they need to say to keep team unity and increase their odds of optomizing their performance. The words are nice, but it'd also be nice if the executional aspects of our coaching followed suit. Wouldn't you say. And BTW, it still doesn't alter the fact that the only reason why we were even in that game, besides Allen, was Davis. Without Davis that day, McD has yet another horrible playoff loss on his hands.

AFC East Miami Dolphins (7-3) @ New York Jets(4-6) Friday 3pm FOX

Did you miss our game last week? Both QBs for the Jets last week, individually or combined, were notably worse than Boyle was today. -
Not the point. The point is the support for both. Imagine the story on Davis if we go on to win the SB that season. But McD has plenty of support, and he was the reason for the loss. He undid a great game by Davis and hasn't done anything otherwise in the playoffs. Yet, he's got quite a bit of support. Meanwhile, Davis, a second WR, not even a first or primary, takes a beating, while many of the same people support McD.

Do you know how many of them have luxury suites now? -
Indeed! But let's even it up vs. Philly! 1 loss is an outlier. 2's a trend.
-
It's odd too, against the NFCE he's 1-0 v. Dallas, 2-0 v. the Giants, 3-0 v. the Skins, but 0-1 v. Philly. That was in 2019 though. Should be an interesting game though. Very difficult to know what to expect. I suppose expect that we come in at least a little flat again as we've been doing over our last 7 games. Let's see if McD can have 'em a little better prepared for this game.

Week 12: Buffalo Bills vs Philadelphia Eagles
PBF81 replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
It should mean prepare to get scored on in Philly. Whether they hit their minimum, 28, or average, 32, or greater, we'll see. But we were discussing the O/D and the point I was trying to make was that I wouldn't rely on our D for this game. The Jets game then came up and I laid out how that was more big plays than steady consistent scoring drives, which it was. As well, after the Miami game, they played better than we did vs. the Jets, put up more points and more yards w/o the aid of two drives starting nearly in the Jets' red zone, were better on 3rd-down-conversions and red zone conversions, in NY contrasted with at home, and turned the ball over three times contrasted with our 1, and got only 2 takeaways contrasted with our 4. The point? The point is that maybe the Jets' D really isn't all that great right now. It was good at the beginning of the season, but it's faded, particularly in light of their anemic offense that hasn't hit the 14-point mark once in the past five games. No, they're not, who ever said that they were? But they're a good team that's beaten several better teams than we've beaten and at 9-1 they have the best record in the league. That shouldn't be taken lightly. One argument is that they may show up flat due to the Niner game the following week. I doubt that'll be the case as we'll be an easier win for them and I cannot imagine that Siranni will let them get ahead like that. And even if they did come in flat, that's pretty much the rule for us, coming in flat this season. ... until it isn't. Not sure I'd use the Jets as a measuring stick on that one, and we didn't start all that strong in that game either. Our first 137 yards on four drives resulted in 3 FGs including two stalled red zone drives. it was Douglas' INT that sparked us just prior to the half. We'll see what happens. Thanks for the back-n-forth! -
Week 12: Buffalo Bills vs Philadelphia Eagles

That's the entire point. But putting up the Jets game as "we're back" under Brady is taking some serious liberties. That's all that was said. I have no idea why you and others are taking issue with it. Again, getting set-up twice by STs & D and having the longest pass play of the season is hardly any indication that offensively this team is retracked. Would love for it to be, but that's hardly an indication that it is. Once again, live by big-plays, die by big-plays, and we do. It has been piss poor most of the year. And it was better in the Jets game, but nowhere near "the offense put up 32 via conventional means" good either. I have no idea which team is going to show up on Sunday. Only a fool would bet on that, and an even bigger fool would bet that we win that one. Hoping is one thing. I can hope the rest of my hair out but it doesn't matter what I or anyone else hopes for. We're either talking about realities or we're not. It seems that a word of caution as to our good but far from great offensive performance in the Jets game would be wise. Think differently, great. But it can't come down to laugh and eye-rolling emojis. There's been little substance arguing the opposite other than simply "32 points." Honestly, why is anyone taking issue with that? Let's put it another way, suppose we go to Philly and all we do is what we did w/o those D/STs set-ups and a long pass, none of which are odds-on to occur. Anyone thinking differently should go look at the prop bets. Anyway, if all we do is what we did otherwise, IMO we're in trouble and will be lucky to hit 21. And who knows, maybe Philly will turn the ball over more than twice, like the only time that they did six weeks ago. Heck, maybe they'll turn it over 6 times. I don't have a crystal ball. But if they don't, and if we don't get another deep pass for a GD, and only play as well as we played offensively vs. the Jets without getting handed a FG already within FG range, and field position a few yards shy of their red zone for one of the other two TDs our offense got, I'd suggest that we're in trouble. But to agree with you, yes, our execution has been piss poor, but not all of that has been on the offense either. Much of it befalls McD, who at last check is still our HC. Why is it so much of a reach for people to see that we got a ton of breaks in the Jets game that don't happen very often for any team, not just ours. I don't get it. That's all I've been discussing. Aggressive or not,and I don't mean it to be, I respond to comments made to me out of courtesy. I have zero control if people comment midstream without looking at the basis for the discussion, nor do I have any control over whether or not they go off emotionally or rationally contribute something besides superficial semi-mindless narrative. That's on them one way or another. BTW, if Brown doesn't start, I like our chances a lot. If he does, not so much. That's why I've been quoting their HOME games. Dallas 28 Miami 31 Washington 34 Minnesota 34 The last time I looked we weren't playing them in NE, Tampa, LA, New Jersey, KC, or Buffalo. We're set to play them in Philly. If you think that good comps are ROAD games, great. Not seeing it, but to each his own. I'm not going to hammer you and aggressively try to beat you down. If we do lose because we can't score more than the low 20s, I'll be curious as to what everyone says about Brady's offense. It'll be quite interesting on the heels of last week's game to be sure. -
Week 12: Buffalo Bills vs Philadelphia Eagles

Is Brown starting? He's on the injury report as Questionable. So is Swift. Their top-2 weapons. I just saw that. Guessing both are a go, but noticed that they were on there. They don't seem to have much depth after Brown and Smith though. Goedert's out. Some JAG named Olamide Zaccheaus is their next best WR. Should be an interesting game from several perspectives. -
Just saw that Brown and Swift are Questionable for Philly. Presumably that means that they start, but who knows how effective they'll be.

Then there's that. But how do we know that the script doesn't favor us, or the Eagles losing? I guess we'll find out. LOL Still, they've averaged 32 PPG at home, and against a few great defenses too. Ours is overrated. Dallas was their worst game several weeks ago, and they still put up 28 points against their fairly consistent D. The Over is 48.5 which appears to be a gimme. -

LOL, feel better now? Out of curiosity, what's the answer to him, suggesting, pretty much insisting, that those types of plays occur on a regular basis? You tell me. LOL And seriously, without those, how was it a prolific offensive performance? Either those types of plays that handed us 17 points are common and can be game-planned, or they cannot. Which is it in your view? So you too then are implying that we can count on deep passing TDs once a game, and STs/D setting us up for 10 points per game, all for 17 points total? Instead of ad hominem, how about actually contributing to the substance of the discussion? If you simply want to vent your emotions, say so. -
Not so sure about that. The narrative is growing both nationally and regionally that he's simply not cutting it, which is being kind is some cases. Like it or not, narratives drive much, both positive and negative. Remember, Pegula's trying to sell tickets to our new and improved stadium, at exorbitant prices by Buffalo standards despite their pitching it as being in line with league pricing elsewhere. AKA Buffalo's not NYC, Boston, San Fran or any of the other big markets re: median income. That's why he extended and sync'd McBeane's contracts. It's a good guess that he was hoping we'd be 9-2 right now, as we should be, and that virtual ST sales process with the VR experience would be going on right now with fan enthusiasm at all-time highs. Rather, the opposite has occurred. But if we go 8-9 or 9-8 and miss the playoffs, given that this team's trajectory has been downhill since '21, it presents a problem for Pegula in that light as he needs "Allen" leading a great Bills' team to assist in selling his first round of PSLs as part of "his contribution" to the costs. And who knows, maybe we'll finish 5-1 and win the division. But if not, I'm not one of those that thinks that even if we do go 8-9 that McD will be fired. I think he should be, but don't think that he will be. How many more seasons of underachievement is Pegula going to sit still for as Allen ages is the question. We've ultimately underachieved in every playoffs under him despite regular season success from '20 to '22. Even if we get lucky and "make the playoffs" again, if we lose in the Wild Card or Divisional rounds to a lesser team, that pattern merely extends itself. Fan expectations are now past making the playoffs, just as they were past winning the AFC Championship back in the '90s. The expectations now are for prolific offense on a continual basis, AFC Championships, and a Super Bowl win. If McD can do that, he'll forever be a legend in WNY. There also isn't much for McD to hide behind at this point. At the same time, as you imply, Pegula would have to eat a lot of crow if he were to fire McD now because that first year of that extension hasn't even kicked in, which wasn't necessary to provide until at least seeing how this season played out. Everyone's saying that our offense is back under Brady, but the reality is that three plays separated us from a "meh" offensive performance and what actually happened. The problem is that none of those plays are likely in games going forward. The first was Gilliam's forced fumble setting us up already in field goal range where we lost 9 yards and still managed to kick a FG. The second was Douglas' INT giving us the ball at the Jets 23 for our first TD at the end of the second quarter. The third was that 81-yard TD pass to Shakir. What are the odds of that happening again. For reference purposes, that was Allen's 2nd longest of his career. 98 was the longest to Davis last season. Foster had one for 75 in 2018. Davis had one for 62 yards also last season. We had three such deep TD passes last season in total, those two to Davis and a 55-yarder to Diggs. This season we have two so far. Shakir's and Diggs'. While many here seem to think that's sustainably common, the reality is that last season with three of 50+ was Allen's season max. Those three plays set-up or logged over half our our points and a quarter of our total yards. But they're unlikely to recur with even the slightest regularity against good teams the likes of which we face coming up in our gauntlet.

Week 12: Buffalo Bills vs Philadelphia Eagles
PBF81 replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
🙄 Great! So we'll look forward to 10 points off of Eagles TOs and one of the longest pass plays of the season for a TD and 17 total points then. Let's revisit this post if that doesn't happen. Frankly, why Brady has anything to with those TOs is beyond me, but you know better clearly. I am looking forward to that happening now that you've convinced me that we're a shoe-in for it to occur. Once we do that, and hold the Eagles to notably fewer than 30 minutes time-of-possession, we should win this going away. I wouldn't want him here in Buffalo, but as you imply, the odds of McDimwit outcoaching him aren't good. -

Week 12: Buffalo Bills vs Philadelphia Eagles
PBF81 replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Superficially maybe, but again, we scored 17 points due all but entirely to our longest pass play of the season and one of the league's longest TD passes on the season, and 10 more points due to STs and D efforts. 15 points otherwise, and against a team with all but literally no offense allowing us nearly 40 minutes time of possession. The point is that that 17 points came in incredibly unlikely at best situations, but at worst nothing that can be game-planned in. So we'll see. Would love too see our killer offense back, but we have had an overraction to Brady as a result. -

Upon second glance, this game could get FUGLY very quickly. Boyle has to be one of the worst collegiate QBs to ever start in the NFL. At UConn, in the AAC, over three seasons as a backup, he went 133 for 275 (48.4%), 4.5 YPA, 2.4 NYPA, had 1 TD and 13 INTs. Peterman may be better. If he's gonna be better than Wilson then bless him. Good luck though. I wouldn't bet a bag of chips that they even log an offensive TD.
