Yeah, but he's been the whipping boy! Beane never lifts a finger to get a true bona fide #2, the push Davis into the role although he's not perfectly suited to it, make the most of it, and yet it's Davis' fault. Only in Buffalo under McD!

We're Going To The Playoffs. (edit: Updated - Super Bowl)

Very nicely summed up!! -
I hear ya, but if he did that deliberately, then it seemingly backfired on him. Keep in mind, McDimwit was the only one defending Dorsey Peterman-style, other than for Allen passively. In short, it would have been sabotaging his own team simply with the goal of pointing a finger. It seems to be more that first part of your last sentence.
-
Yep, that's the one. And more. I just mentioned that above.

Difficult to argue. When the D gives up 136 yards and 17 poitns in the last 17 minutes to send the game into OT, then allows another 75 yards on 9 plays on a single drive in OT, it can't be anything else. Lotsa fingers being pointed at Gabe, again, the lowest paid starting player on the team, but how about Allen's horrible decision to throw into double-coverage short to Diggs to set up that TD that gave the Eagles the lead and all the momentum that they needed to win the game. Allen had a great game, but that single play was as equally to blame if not more so than any other. Gabe's missed route wouldn't have even mattered had Allen not made that ill-advised throw, again, into obviously double-coverage. Why? Probably forcing Diggs. Meanwhile, Diggs had only one 3rd-down catch for a 1st-down. Tough to blame individual players, particularly Allen or even in this case Davis who led the team in receiving with 6 catches for 105 yards and 1 TD, but he's the forum's whipping boy so that's just the way that is. I guess that he got a 19-yard pass on 3rd-and-9 to set up Allen's run for our first TD on the next play wasn't very good. Or his beautiful route late in the 4th to put us up again on 3rd-and-4 for his TD. Then keeping our OT drive alive with a 13-yard catch on 3rd-and-9. Had he not done that, all that the Eagles would have needed was a FG. Irrelevant apparently. It's amazing the beating that a cheap player, again, the least paid of any regular starting player, takes. If we could get in terms of value from all of our players, particularly our money-men, the value that we get from a 4-year $4M player, prior to any accelerators/incentives, we'd be world-class and there would be zero debate about how good a job Beane has done. No, Davis isn't worth $15M, but at what he costs, he's a bargain and then some.

He's a regular. It's always his fault. The lowest paid starting player. He's the one. LOL Anyway, that's a given.

Funny post!! But it is a little bit of a game of clue here. Different roles within the organization should have differing perspectives, just as outsiders, whether they be educated fans, analysts, journalists, etc., have other perspectives, often just as valid as the ones from within. Then of course add the posters that have connections, etc. There's a large degree of seeing the forest for the trees associated with this. For example, the talk about Josh wanting Dorsey as OC. If true, who knows why that may be. It's likely that friendship was involved, a familiarity with one another, perhaps a fear on Josh's part about a new OC hired externally with the mysteries that it could bring. We don't know. We only know what we know, and what the evidence (play) presents. But some are tasked with seeing that forest for the trees, aka the bigger picture. It's often talked about how a coach or GM, etc., are the "experts," but they all have specializations, and in hindsight, aka now, they don't really come across as experts in their specializations even, yet for a while they were blindly given the benefits of the doubt. Coaches and players are often too in the weeds, or can't see the forest for the trees, which should be considered. For example, every great WR believes that him getting the ball more translates to getting wins. Same for RBs and carries. Again, as merely two examples. But in any given situation or game, that may actually not be the case for reasons that should be obvious. Teams are a complex thing, but sometimes if an organization is dominated by a single strong personality, it fails to be as great as it could be if the inputs of the other elements are stifled or ignored. There's at least circumstantial evidence that this is the case here.

Or, McD was breathing down Dorsey's neck but not doing so now because he knows his a$$ is on the line. It is a strong possibility. Who knows. We may never know the truth there, but often times things come out after major changes/firings take place. Diggs for example, he may speak out, or another player that was jilted or diminished by McD's "Process," again, whatever TF that even is.
-
Yeah, it's a real reach to suggest that McD didn't have a strong say in how Dorsey did things. He even talks about "complimentary football," which could very well be his way of saying that the offense should revolve around the defense. We'll probably never know, but his fingerprints are over so much that it's likely that that's the case. It's clear that McD hasn't a clue re: offense. Brady may be getting more lattitude from McD because McD knows that his a$$ is on the line at this point and he's willing to take that chance and relinquish all control of the O.

Yeah, views are obviously going to digress on this one. -

Which would be more heart wrenching? Going 4-1 or 5-0 and losing agian in the wild-card or divisional rounds, or missing out. Asking rhetorically, but who has any faith that even if we made it, that we'd do anything more. This "making the playoffs" thing, just like in the 90s, has gotten old. We have one of the best QBs in the game, the bar is significantly higher. -
Poor man's Dick Jauron who lucked into the most physically gifted QB ever

Yeah, Allen on that '04 team with Moulds, Evans, McGahee and that D! Would have been one of the best Bills teams ever. -
8th late-game defensive meltdown this season
PBF81 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Glad you know me so well I enjoy debate and discussion. Always happy to admit when I'm wrong. You won't find many if any posts by me of gloating. Believe what you will however. It does seem that those that were off on McD however, are having difficulty processing it emotionally. Appreciate your faith in your fellow humanity (me) though. 😏. -

We're seeing a lot of general criticism, but that narrative is still generally intact. Lotsa people still referring to him as a "defensive minded" coach and his great Ds. Maybe more nationally. I just looked, big problem for us, our run D ranks 20th in yards and 29th in YPC. -

So at what point does the narrative that he's some sort of defensive genius begin to see the luster fade? -
... and once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by letting what is supposedly McD's strength get shredded.
-
Great point, teams should draft all their future QBs in the 6th round. So how long before Brady started a game did you realize that he had greatness in him? Please share your secret. Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant, so maybe trading down for that valuable Last Pick is the shrewd GM move these days. 😎 Touche! 😂
-
The reality is that it sounds great, but he's too old. The game has changed, he's probably too old school. Get someone younger. It's a fun thought though.
-
Tia will be lucky to last three more seasons ... if he can even finish this one, which will be good first full season then.
-
List the rest But hey, if you like Bama QBs, who am I to argue. 🙂

It was a mystery what McD's perceived reputation as a great defensive coach was ever based on. People here talk about how great it was at Carolina where over six seasons it averaged a 17th ranking. -

PBF81 replied to Doc Brown's topic in The Stadium Wall
Miami's more consistent than we are. If they suck because they haven't beaten any +.500 teams, and they're the only team that we've beaten, ... What happened last season is irrelevant. The most relevant thing about last season for us is how we got utterly smoked in the playoffs. Not too mention their schedule: @Washington Titans Jets Us It's fantasy thinking that they'll falter while we flourish. A good goal for McDimwit at this point is to finish with a winning record. Playoffs will require as much luck as they did in 2017. -
Yeah, he and Young should be great together, just like he and Allen. Would be a blast to watch him without Allen carrying his water.

Instead of Stroud a pick on later. Rule of thumb: Never take a QB from Alabama.
