So iyo McD is optimizing Allen then? -

A fair discussion would also link the QBs on all of their teams as well. Then contrast with Allen. McD doesn't have Palmer, Dalton, or Ryan to work with. He has Allen. Is he making the most of that opportunity? -

The VR tour on those would be fun. -
The Bills D is ascending at the right time.

11 of our 16 games however have been against teams ranked in the bottom half of scoring. The other five teams are the Jags and Chiefs (13th and 12th), Jags did better than their average against us, the Chiefs slightly worse, but w/o Pacheco who's a good part of their offense this season. Otherwise Philly who also lit us up. Miami early in the season. Otherwise, Dallas amidst a three game streak where they can't hit the 20 point mark. Caution entering the playoffs is advised. LOL Do with the info what you will, but we've hardly had a difficult slate of offenses. -
It was hard for McD to move on from it.

PBF81 replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, LOL, unless they come down quite significantly from that first "survey" that they put out, that's exactly what people should anticipate happening though. Buffalo/Erie County isn't the place to be gouging people given what our fanbase is generally speaking. Many long time STHs here have even stated as much. -

They originally said that the VR Tours would be available last March I think it was, Spring anyway. We're coming up on a year after that. We're all curious, but the big mystery seems to be why they would be holding it back. It's being built, under construction, yet no great details have been provided as to what the final product will look like. Other stadium projects have provided the info when they've had it, for sure well before now in their projects, past and current. Yet here it's some big mystery. It definitely begs the question as to why. The only logical explanation as to why they'd want to wait would be a "big reveal" of sorts, but that's no possible given the monthly or so drone updates. It's just odd. It's definitely going to be interesting. -
Need a capable backup quarterback next season.

Pitch it to Josh, we're told that he makes the backup QB decisions. 😁 -
Hive Mind Theory Explains Bills' Recent Performances

A lot more people are probably wondering too what extent or illustrious head coach factors into it all. -
We have to quit wasting Allen's years. Get in and get hot and who knows. Maybe getting in as the 6th seed will be motivation. Not making the playoffs in a season where the AFC is as weak as it's been on McD's watch is inexcusable. KC ain't going anywhere, Jax is floundering and may not even win their division. Miami shouldn't be what stops us, especially with Waddle out, Chubb out, Hill injured, Mostert injured or out, etc. The only team playing with any consistency this season in the AFC has been Baltimore and we haven't had to play them. Our offense has seen no significant injuries and had the best OL play we've had on his watch. We added Kincaid and Shakir took a step in his second season. At some point we need to cut bait on the mismanagement of our offense.

Thanks! It's a legitimate topic for debate, which is why all the ruckus here, LOL, but everything you said in para 2 falls on coaching. People deflect it to the OC, first Dorsey, now Brady, but at the end of the day, another legitimate topic for debate, is that many believe that it befalls the head coach since he's the one A, choosing those OCs, and B, ultimately able to override them, particularly generally speaking and from game to game, which we haven't really seen. What we have seen is a continued focus on highlighting the Defense, seemingly at the expense of a superior Offense. Again, another quite legitimate topic for debate. But here's where I would also throw in, if that's all we're doing, "complimentary football" while minimizing the passing game like Baltimore, why do we need a gunslinger like Allen with the arm strength that he has. Remember, they drafted him for his arm strength and because he could "make every throw." Not for his abilities as a game manager, which seemingly is all that's required under Brady's O. I firmly believe that at least some of Allen's INT issues are related to the play-calling and game management. As to the rest, agree that we're a playoff team, but what's that really saying, but that we're currently not playing anywhere near well enough to advance past the D round if even the WC round pending the matchup. As to your last para, it would seem that the logical thing to do is to formulate your play-calling and game-plans to be able to optimize your strengths and have them shine as a direct result, using the other players/weapons to "compliment" that. Not to minimize one of the best QB/WR tandems in the game, turn a seemingly prolific pass-catching TE into a short-yardage specialist, and otherwise force running the ball when other than for a single game skewing the stats, your star RB is averaging an incredibly poor yards-per-carry average. -
Oh yeah, I am, sorry 'bout that.

Maximize: "increase to a maximum," "make the most of," 1 & 2 in Webster's. Too much focus on a semi-meaningless stat in isolation. It seems that we could have gotten much more from him this season, particularly in terms of TDs and YPR. He's 8th among TEs for Receptions, 4th in Catch%, but 13th in Yards, 26th in TDs, 15th in YPG, and 27th in Yards-per-Reception, and among many incredibly pedestrian TEs in some of those latter cats. Hope that helps. -

There's a lot to debate there. But what's interesting is that you cite Mahomes as a top-3 QB and us beating them as a positive, while leap-frogging the fact that the WRs that he has in addition to an aging 34-year old primary target TE aren't even as good as Diggs, Davis, or Kincaid otherwise. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. What we're seeing in KC is exactly the importance of having something other than JAGs as WRs. -
We'd better hope that Diggs doesn't make a stink to get out of here. Anyone convinced that he won't is being naive given the circumstances and playoffs pending. We may very well need #1 and #2 WRs.
-
3.7 YPC by Cook in the five games other than Dallas. Again, it's quite possible and even very likely that Brady's offense now has enough video of it for opposing DCs to effectively plan against it. @ Miami and then the playoffs if they happen will reveal more. It's not difficult to see this not ending well, this entire "complimentary football" crap. We have Allen and yet we like stubborn children refuse to build around him and provide him with top weapons. Instead we focus on the running game and relegate Allen to being a game manager in at least some sense. SMFH.

PBF81 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
We likely haven't heard the end from Diggs. Not sure why anyone thinks he'll be content upon the season ending. It's not him. Not sure why anyone ever thought that either Sherfield or Harty would do anything. Both have had one decent season in 11 combined seasons for a 4/5 WR, but both times on teams bereft of WR talent otherwise, thereby forcing the situations. Neither has ever "stepped up" so to speak. They've done all but nothing in 9 other combined seasons. There's a reason for that. The neglect at WR has been insane. But that's what comes with "The Process," a defensive-minded head coach that's obsessed with the play of his D, and now grasping at anything to keep his job and doing it in the only way he knows how, and now "complimentary football" which we don't hear other teams with top QBs talking about. This week's game and then, if it happens, the ensuing playoff games, are going to be revealing and further expose what's wrong with this team. Have we maximized and optimized that player's usage? Has what the team said about our offense upon his drafting come to pass? -

"Complimentary football." Focus on the Defense as if it's the '90s and RBs are essential to success despite all of the rules favoring QBs, receivers, and the passing game. Let's see if it A, gets us to the playoffs, and B, what it does when we get there. Nothing like minimizing the strength of our team. Yeah yeah, 5-1 since Brady took over. All but ignored are that we played the Chargers JV team, the Jets, and Pats for three of those 5 wins, ... and nearly lost two of them. Hardly inspiring. Our two highest scoring games under Brady were also coincidentally our two with the most passing yards. The Jets and Philly. Dallas is the single outlier and we caught them in a three-game slump, continuing, where they're averaging fewer than 17 PPG, over two TDs less than their season average in their other 13 games. In the other three games, vs. the Chargers JV, the Pats, both of which we nearly lost, only winning the NE game because of the D, and KC, wherein we were outgained by both KC and NE, we averaged 23.7 PPG. KC's offense blows this season. They're ranked 12th in scoring. KC's in a slump of their own, going 4-5 in their last 9 with losses to Denver, Green Bay, and the Raiders. Not sure that this is the recipe for beating the Fins or playoff success, but we'll find out shortly. How many other teams are there that have had top-3 QBs but haven't made them the focus of their teams. (rhetorical). -
Interesting thread! Here's some more detail. Looking at his career splits, and without any detail, it seems that his November is the problematic month. His Decembers are good from a scoring perspective primarily. His QB Rating is worst in December, but his stats otherwise, again, sans any detail, are second only to October. Career Sept: 13-7 (20 games), 468 of 717, 65.3%, 5,156, 36/18 (2-to-1), 92.7, 53 Sacks for 333 yards, 257.8 Y/G Oct: 15-7 (22 games), 472 of 726, 65.0%, 5,522, 44/15 (2.9 to 1), 99.5, 30 Sacks for 174 yards, 251.0 Y/G Nov: 13-9 (22 games), 466 of 722, 64.5%, 5,401, 33/22 (1.5 to 1), 89.6, 42 Sacks for 263 yards, 245.5 Y/G Dec: 17-8 (25 games), 481 of 815, 59.0%, 5,428, 44/16 (2.75 to 1), 88.8, 44 Sacks for 275 yards, 217.1 Y/G

Some hard choices for Beane on the D-Line
PBF81 replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
The thread is about the DL, but given how inconsistent our offense is, Beane's greater concern and focus should be on probing into why and then making the associated corrections there before he does anything else. Enough time and energy had been spent on the D in his six years here. Unless that D wins us a Championship, and to date it's been what has prevented one in the playoffs ... JMO -
So how are we feeling about Coach McDermott?
PBF81 replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, so far, and if we include Miami twice, we'll have faced only five 10-win teams. Anytime there's been a 10-win team in the division, that's two games. But by the same vein, how many times have we played 7 teams with 6 or fewer wins. We played five 10-win teams in 2021. We played seven 10-win teams in 2020.
