Bush tells why he won't meet Sheehan

Are you being serious, or does your zeal for party/philosophy really make you this stupid? -
Bush tells why he won't meet Sheehan
Gavin in Va Beach replied to Dr. K's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The policy on negotiating with terrorists should apply with the Nutjob Mom here. You don't negotiate (meet with) this particular Nutjob Mom because then you'd have to negotiate (meet with) ALL the Nutjob Moms. Ergo you don't meet with ANY. The news value of this annoying loon disappeared days ago, yet the media keep pimping her as a way to stick it to Bush. I'd have a government shrink declare her officially 'over the rainbow' and have her committed. -
Philly couldn't renegotiate TO's contract now even if they changed their minds and wanted to, to do so would severely damage their leverage in negotiations with future players, especially mega-ego superstars like TO. Their only options now are to trade him if they can get enough value or to make him play for his current contract and make him follow some rules, which is what it looks like their doing. At the end of all this, TO holding out and then creating this circus is going to cost him MILLIONS in future earnings. Very few if any of the other teams will bring him in with a multi-year huge signing bonus contract and risk this happening to them. If he had just played one more year and put up similar or better numbers he'd have gotten his contract redone with no problem. Rosenhaus convinced him to hold out a year too early. Oh well, couldn't have happened to a bigger ****...

Kelly my friend, the Bills could call you up to play safety and even though you have to stop and hawk up a loogie when you run more than 10 feet you'd still be better than Wire. Baker or Leonhard are probably already as good at the position as Wire has shown to be over and over again. Time for TD to cut the cord on this one. -

Another vote for 'Cut Coy Wire'. Man he was terrible last night. Every time he lines up at safety he is simply lost out there. Bad pursuit angles, shoddy tackling, cut his ass. Special teams can't save him anymore, we need that roster spot for younger talent already showing more potential. -
Happy birthday Erynthered! What kind name is that anyway, viking?

The Terrel Owens thread
Gavin in Va Beach replied to The Riddler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No other sport gives the exorbitant signing bonuses that football gives and that's where the top players make their real bread and butter. Everyone knows this. Terrell is only one year removed from getting his signing bonus and now he wants another one? Fug him. If he had turned in another ProBowl season then maybe demanding a redo next year makes sense, but to do it now is stupidity. As for the bs about teams being able to cut players, well yes they can but then they suffer a huge cap hit as a result which is why star players ever rarely get cut outright with a lot of years left on their contract. TO has another 6 years on his. He didn't have to worry about getting cut anytime soon. TO misplayed his hand (probably on the advice of Rosenhause) and Philly called his bluff. I hope they stick it to his punk ass. -

If Art Monk isn't in yet, then no fuggin' way should TO be getting in... -

Reed at camp yesterday

Reed is the wide receiver version of Eric Flowers it would seem. How were Aiken and Wilson looking? -
The Terrel Owens thread
Gavin in Va Beach replied to The Riddler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Willis stays healthy this year, he's going to be an all-fuggin pro stud who just completed his 3rd year in the league and if the Bills are smart, they will go to Rosenhause themselves and start looking to redo the deal. It would be in Buffalo's best interests to lock him up and make him happy. Totally different situation from Owens. TO, awesome receiver though he is, whined his way out of San Fran, then threw a temper tantrum to get out of Baltimore, and now because he has a new agent who is encouraging him Terrell is throwing the mother of all hissy fits after only ONE year into his new deal. Fug him. I hope Philly keeps him around and invents new ways to fine him every week, so they could at least get some of their money back while making TO's life miserable. -

It's amazing what Glamour Shots can do, isn't it? A buddy of mine had an ex-wife who was 300 lbs and a dogs shaved ass ugly. Glamour Shots made her look like a super model. It's wonderful what technology can do these days... -

I'll see your Harry Chapin banana song and raise you a Gordon Lightfoot iron ore hauling song... The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead When the skies of November turn gloomy. With a load of iron ore - 26,000 tons more Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed When the gales of November came early The ship was the pride of the American side Coming back from some mill in Wisconson As the big freighters go it was bigger than most With a crew and the Captain well seasoned. Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms When they left fully loaded for Cleveland And later that night when the ships bell rang Could it be the North Wind they'd been feeling. The wind in the wires made a tattletale sound And a wave broke over the railing And every man knew, as the Captain did, too, T'was the witch of November come stealing. The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait When the gales of November came slashing When afternoon came it was freezing rain In the face of a hurricane West Wind When supper time came the old cook came on deck Saying fellows it's too rough to feed ya At 7PM a main hatchway caved in He said fellas it's been good to know ya. The Captain wired in he had water coming in And the good ship and crew was in peril And later that night when his lights went out of sight Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Does anyone know where the love of God goes When the words turn the minutes to hours The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay If they'd fifteen more miles behind her. They might have split up or they might have capsized They may have broke deep and took water And all that remains is the faces and the names Of the wives and the sons and the daughters. Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings In the ruins of her ice water mansion Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams, The islands and bays are for sportsmen. And farther below Lake Ontario Takes in what Lake Erie can send her And the iron boats go as the mariners all know With the gales of November remembered. In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral The church bell chimed, 'til it rang 29 times For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald. The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee Superior, they say, never gives up her dead When the gales of November come early. -
Concerned about slip in Dee performance

Charlie Hinton: Today we need some orginazation and planned activities. Phil: No. We need Ritalin and leashes. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0317303/quotes That was the best quote I could find from Daddy Day Care. Then again I'm not surprised as that movie was a steaming pile of dog schit and not nearly as good as Saving Private Ryan. Anyone tells you different you should shoot right away because they probably have rabies and a Napoleonic complex...
