What do you think of borders?
Gavin in Va Beach replied to RuntheDamnBall's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Funny how healthcare wasn't a right when it was nothing more than leeches and drilling a hole in one's skull. Now that medical science has improved...SHAZAM....it should be free for everybody. Wake me up when anyone has the balls do discuss society's role in preventing the herd from overbreeding because disease and war don't kill enough people anymore... -

What do you think of borders?

1. Mexico 2,700,000- 54% red 2. El Salvador 335,000- 6.7% blue 3. Guatemala 165,000- 3.3% orange 4. Canada 120,000-2.4% green Fug it, I'm too lazy to go on, suffice it to say, that jar is made up primarily of red marbles. The next color isn't anywhere close to having the same amount of marbles. Also factor in that a great many of those illegal immigrants listed for other countries most likely came through Mexico to enter the United States. So how about instead of calling it a 'Mexican Invasion', we call it a 'Mexico-Based Invasion'? Can you agree about this or do you want to dissemble and play semantics some more? 5. Haiti 105,000 6. Philippines 95,000 7. Honduras 90,000 8. Dominican Republic 75,000 9. Nicaragua 70,000 10. Poland 70,000 11. Colombia 65,000 12. Ecuador 55,000 13. Trinidad & Tobago 50,000 14. Jamaica 50,000 15. Wow, you pulled out the big gun of liberal debate tactics: When logic blows your argument right out of the water, go for the heart and use "feelings, nothing more than feelings" as your primary weapon. And if that weren't enough, you structure your argument to paint everyone who doesn't agree with you as a racist and a bigot. Way to be open-minded there lefty. So for the record you're tolerant about men having buttsex, but anyone having a differing opinion on illegal immigration should be made to feel shame. Got ya. Besides, this dog don't hunt anyway. We are a nation of laws. If we are to the beacon of truth and justice in a world that has very little (and we do a pretty piss poor job of being that beacon anyway) then we must enforce all laws fairly. People are here ILLEGALLY should be forced to pay a penalty and if deportation is ruled to be that penalty then the Irish should be shipped home too. My mom who is still an Irish citizen can stay though, because she married an American guy. There are rules and ways to stay, but to just arrogantly say "Screw you US I'm staying" is an invation to the breakdown of law and order. Oh and way to be way wrong about it not being a "Mexican invasion". Aren't you scientists supposed to use only peer verifiable facts instead of pulling things completely out of your ass? Hey look, there's Ireland checking in at #17 on the list. We better watch out for the Irish Invasion. Estimated Illegal Immigrant Population for Top Twenty Countries of Origin and Top Twenty States of Residence: October 1996 Country of origin Population State of residence Population All countries 5,000,000 1. More Insight as to Why Younger Folks...
Gavin in Va Beach replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in Off the Wall Archives
They vote to raise taxes in Syracuse and the surrounding towns around here nearly every single year and I don't think I have heard a politician state that the reason is because NYC takes all the tax revenue. Nope, politicians here raise taxes for the same reason they are raised everywhere: THEY ARE IDIOTS WITH MANAGING MONEY AND ALWAYS WANT MORE. If a city/town/village budget was ever proposed that was less then it was the year before I would most likely drop dead of a heart attack. -
You gotta love this quote- If I steal a candy bar, is that illegal or criminal? I'm so confused...

Good job guys, here's a raise

If raising it is no big deal, why not raise it to $15 an hour? -

Gavin in Va Beach replied to TheMadCap's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It isn't totally about the money in this case. It's the attitude behind it. They feel they deserve these raises because of all the "hard work" they do for what is essentially a part-time job maintained by full-time asskissing at various social events. How about returning to the idea of serving in office as a duty and priviledge instead of as it has currently become, which is serving in office as a career and a way making connections to enrich oneself? That holding onto said office is reason enough to say or do anything to keep getting re-elected? Every time they vote to gives themselves a pay raise is another step towards creating an aristocracy. IMO not only should there be term limits, but monatary compensation should be bare minimum. -
Nah I don't think judges are bad, I just don't think that putting on a black robe gives them godlike wisdom either.

I'll type slowly... You cite court decisions that you agree with as if they were handed down by God to Moses on stone tablets. However you're not giving this court decision you're attacking the same deference, and if I can play armchair political analyst I'd say it's because you, the ACLU, and other liberals now view this Supreme Court as 'conservative'. I think it's fair to say, and you're welcome to disagree of course, that if this decision had come about 5 years ago that you'd probably wouldn't have looked at it twice. But since this is the new "Alito- Roberts" Supreme Court, almost every 5-4 decision will now have you liberals screaming "the jackbooted facists are out to get us!!". Myself, I always thought that letting guilty criminals go free because some judge rules that the cops didn't knock or forgot to cite Miranda rights was a huge steaming pile of bull sh--, and if this decision limits a judges ability to let the guilty go free on a technicality then it sounds pretty good to me.
-
Richardson could be formidable, but I fail to see how anyone could take that weasel Dodd's campaign seriously...
-
So court justices, especially the Supremes in your opinion, are infallible? Kinda like the Pope? Do you pray to them every night or just when the ACLU tells you to?

post here if you are glad we lost at soccer
Gavin in Va Beach replied to jester43's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Of course you've made it up in your minds that the game is complicated else watching 1-0 games with regularity would drive you all batshiat crazy. You've got to make up elaborate chants to give you something to do for crissakes. I'm sure there are threads on soccer message boards debating whether or not players should shave their !@#$ing legs to decrease wind resistence while they lope up and down the field. I went to a school that didn't have football, only soccer. Never missed a home game. My friends and I would get liquored up and have a blast heckling the other team, but nobody would actually watch more than 5 minutes of the game lest they risk falling asleep. I actually like soccer but come on dude admit it, it's boring. -

I think she's pretty much spot on with regards to those 911 widows. Your husbands dying made you experts on fighting terrorism and political punditry? Take your illegal government sympathy money, get on with your lives, and STFU.
