Actually it’s not.  The Bills also need starters at safety, Edge and DT.   Last year they picked up two starters, Kincaid and Torrence in the first two rounds drafting in a similar slot.  This year they will have to do the same given our cap problems.

Add the depth in the WR class and the Bills actually may be better off trading down a few slots in the 1st to recover a 3rd pick to replace the one traded for Douglas.

With 4 top 100 picks, the Bills should be able to add starters at WR and Safety with their first two picks, and then two defensive linemen in the 3rd.

Also given our cap issues, get cheap depth through the draft is also imperative.  With 2 5ths and 3 6ths, Beane should be able to add depth at WR, RB, S and maybe even a developmental QB.

Don’t forget the Nucua was a 5th rd pick last year and Purdy was the last pick in the draft.  Beane has an excellent history later in the draft.

I'd take a squad full of Shaq Lawsons and Taylor Rapps at DE & S if it meant we stacked the WR cupboard instead. Would have held KC to the same point total but put up 50 on the other side so who care

Really like Jackson at 205, and love the Franklin bookends. I personally would have tried to shoehorn Brenden Rice in somewhere with McCaffrey for multiple legacies. Minor quibbles, other than that no notes, A+ draft

Everyone is going to hate this take but.... trade up as high as we can to get the best guy.  Push all the chips in.    We need an amazing WR.  90% of this roster is Super Bowl ready.  We jut need a super star opposite S Diggs.  White and Miller will be back to form.. the Defense is good enough.  We have a slot guy, RB and TE....  The O-line is decent.... Barnard with M. Milanio will be amazing.

Go all in and get the absolute best WR.  There rest is just a depth draft.

Get me Malik Nabers if he falls for any reason! Do the reverse Mahomes trade, KC sent us a 1st & 3rd plus next year's first to move up for Mahomes. If Malik's there at #9 or 10, I'd offer the same exact thing and pray someone takes it. Then draft another WR in R2 or a couple on day 3. Hammer the position, we gotta get it right and this year's WR class is stacked up top AND it's deep. It's the last thing standing in our way, and we have chips to play. Play them!

I'm not a college fan but after some cursory reading/viewing on various prospects be very pleased with Legette. The dude is in the 220's and would be a beast to bring down and could offer elite speed. That means he can both separate and win in 50/50 battles. That's worth the 23 age factor. He should have about 8 prime years which coincides with Josh's prime years.

I'd be really afraid of drafting a speed guy who is 180 pounds soaking wet.

Let's get a WR who is a beast and who can outrun and outmuscle anyone's CB or safety.

Isn't that the knock on him though? That despite his size/speed he doesn't separate in college and is more of a RAC beast?

Seems to me KC traded away a no. 1 WRdidnt draft 1 in the first and rebuilt their defense and are going to the SB, again.

Because our WRs dropped perfect long balls from Josh and got no separation all game.

Our defense fails every post season regardless, especially against the Chiefs.

Make the offense fail-proof. Stack Josh with weapons & linemen and he'll win it all for us. Everything else is incidental

McBeane has had some success picking from rounds 4 - 7. Hopefully this draft with the amount of picks we have in those rounds they continue to find gems. Here are just a few. Add to the list if you can think of more.

    Matt Milano - Round 5

    Taron Johnson - Round 4

    Khalil Shakir - Round 5

    Christian Benford - Round 6

    Gabe Davis - Round 4

Here are this year’s picks. I think we also get this year a 3rd round comp pick for losing Tremaine.

Buffalo Bills Draft Picks By Round In 2024

    Round 1

    Round 2

    Round 4

    Round 5 (from GB)

    Round 5

    Round 6 (from LAR)

    Round 6

    Round 6 (from HOU)

    Round 7

I think you're missing our projected 3rd round comp pick at #99

I can almost guarantee that Beane will trade up...probably only a few picks perhaps to 25 or 26, but he simply can't resist.  And we're picking in a place where the WRs are really going to be coming off the board fast.  KC will definitely be looking to move up...

Exactly. I'm thinking trade #28 & Elam to the Eagles for #22. Their secondary is in shambles and it would be like a free option on a man corner with upside for them. Make sure KC doesn't pull another McDuffie leapfrog and get a WR ahead of us that's going to torture us for years.

  8. 1 hour ago, BBFL said:

Yeah man. That ain’t happening. If we missed the playoffs there’s a chance you can make the move but to get into the top 5, which is 100% where he goes; if not top 3, you’ll have to give up an embarrassment of riches.

MH2 is legit but you only give that capital for a QB.

Honestly believe we go defense again this year for the 1st round. Believe they’ll convince themselves they allocated resources for the offense last year (King Cade: 25th & Cyrus: 59th).

Maybe Murphy (DT) from Texas or Hicks (Safety) from Washington.

It would be better to go offense in this draft and buy from the pool of defensive FA’s as there is better immediate talent there. Don’t think that happens however.

    If they do:

    WR:

    Leggette (UofSC)

    Worthy (Texas)

    Franklin (Oregon)

    Thomas Jr. (LSU)

Also might need to look at a Morse replacement ASAP:

    Van Pran (Georgia)

    Frazier (WVU)

What do you think about Powers-Johnson in the second? Or would he be long gone?

  9. 14 hours ago, NewEra said:

Thomas- definitely not.  He’s a deep threat.  That’s about it imo.

Mitchell- I don’t think he’s explosive enough-  not sudden enough.

Franklin- is more of a deep threat imo.  He’s ok in the short game but he’s weak and could get crushed over the middle.  For a guy his size, he doesn’t really go up and get them.

I think, inthe right system, Mitchell and Franklin could be wr1 like Stevie Johnson was wr1.  Thomas not so much.

Franklin I could definitely buy due to his youth. Get another 10 lbs on that frame and with his length, deep speed, plus explosiveness & route running he could turn into a #1 pretty easily. At the VERY least a significant immediate upgrade from Gabe opposite Diggs. If he's there at 28 I hammer that all day

Double up in the Draft for me.

Diggs is still here and Shakir will be in Year 3 / Kincaid Year 2.

We can afford to go young at WR behind them.

Not much appetite for tier 2/3 WR's in Free Agency.

Triple dip WR no question this year. Do what KC did with CBs the year we drafted Kaiir & Benford except at WR. And higher picks than they spent. Two by the end of day 2 for sure. Malpractice not to IMHO of course

This would be the dumbest draft by any team ever.

I like it better spiritually than in reality but I would respect the hell out of Beane if he actually did it.

My main point is our defense breaks down huge in the playoffs every year no matter how many resources are poured into it. Make Allen unstoppable, be capable of scoring 50 every game

I dont get how people just overlook how good Von was before injury and the unfortunate fact he got a bad injury that usually takes a full season of playing to really get back.

I would love to shed the contract too, but lets not pretend Von wasn't playing up to the contract before the injury too.  And lets not pretend that the guy on the field this year is also him fully recovered either, because it wasn't.  Look how bad Tre looked when he got back before he was playing at a much higher level this year before he got hurt again.

Bottom line is he is here one more year, and he can still potentially provide value next year if his last 2 games are any indication.  So people need to just accept he is going to be here and hope that he builds upon the end of this year and has more to offer next year like Tre did this season.

Yeah I keep reminding myself of this too. Then I realize that means he's definitely gonna tear his Achilles too from all the compensation doesn't it

Bills Mafia needs to write an open letter to von stating that von needs to retire for the best interest of the bills team and it's loyal fan base.  He doesn't need anymore money.  Please retire von otherwise it will  negatively affects your legacy as a player who puts team first instead of himself.

Unfortunately the way the cap works, unless he returned a bunch of bonus money (not happening why would he) that move would put us in a horrible bind. It would be better for the cap if he's on the roster this coming year

A whole lot of that is creating your plays, play-calling, and overall scheme to match the talents of your WRs.

Beyond that it's a Beane issue.  But hey, when you never draft a WR on days 1 or 2, ...

As they say, you'll never hit unless you buy a ticket.

    R1: WR

    R2: WR

    R3: WR

All must run 4.3/4.4 minimum with separation skills. There's a buttload this year.

Use the day 3 picks for trade ups on day 2, a safety, 1T DT depth, RB depth, and CB depth (Alex Austin type)

I get it. But the main thing we really need out of that mold is someone that can deal with press coverage so that our smaller guys don’t have to deal with it. That’s what made DK so special and it’s what makes Legette a disappointing prospect IMO. That along with the fact that it took him 5 years to do anything at all in college; which is pretty much always an indicator of a WR that will bust in the NFL.

There are exceptions to every rule obviously. Let someone else take a chance on the exception. Too many other top end receivers in this draft. Unless he's still there in R3 then I say pound it all day

% OF WR HIT BENCHMARKS AT LEAST ONCE IN THEIR CAREERS

    Draft Range No 1,000-yd seasons one 1,000-yd season 2+ 1,000-yd seasons 3+ 1,000-yd seasons 8-TD season 16-TD season

    1st rd pick 51% 19% 30% 23% 52% 16%

    Top-10 pick 50% 18% 32% 29% 57% 18%

So, only 49% of first-round wide receivers have had a 1,000-yd season. On top of that, only 30% have had 2 or more. It’s not exactly like I qualify a two-time thousand-yarder as a superstar. That’s a pretty low bar for what is supposed to be elite talent. There are just so many misses that it’s hard to consider anything here as set in stone. Here’s another way to put it: there have been 15 drafts since 2000 with multiple wide receivers taken in the first round. Only twice have all the first-round receivers hit 1,000 yards at some point in their career. In twelve of those years, multiple receivers failed that test.

That's why we should take WR with the first three picks. If multiple hit in this stacked class then Allen has an embarrassment of riches well past Diggs' tenure. But you have to get at least ONE hit from this draft. So make sure it happens.

Safety can wait til day 3. Take more than one safety day 3 IDGAF. We should be aiming to spoil Allen, try to set all time scoring & efficiency records. Put the fear of God into opposing defenses. Make opposing offenses get in their own heads about having to score 30+ or they lose. That's how mistakes are made and our defense can be opportunistic. The defensive head coach gets less resources and can try to do more with less.

Troy Franklin - WR from Oregon is where my mind goes currently. I think there is a  strong chance he is there at 28.

If he runs in the 4.3s I don't see how we could pass him up. Large radius, good hands, separator, diverse route tree, and can take the top off. Checks every box for a guy opposite Diggs to take this offense to the next level. Except run blocking of course 🤣

He's also only 20 and WRs that pop young typically have huge upside

The type of guy KC would jump ahead of us to take who'd then haunt us for the next decade

I kept thinking this during the game.  Diggs is a 2 at this point.  Shakir will be a great slot.  We need a 1.  Having Kincaid saved us.  Knox is a good 2nd option at TE.

We just need help for Allen at the wideout position.

I would LOOOOOOOVE to trade up for Nabers. Treat it like trading up for a QB. This year's first, next year's first and third (with the assumption that we get a '25 comp pick from outgoing FAs) and a 2026 2nd. Josh would be set for the next five+ years

  18. Can't show up against the Chiefs with a super bowl appearance on the line, can't beat the Chiefs with a lead & 13 seconds left, can't beat the Chiefs at home with a half time lead, what's the point in retaining? Thanks for what you've done to get us here. Need new blood to get over the hump.

Chiefs finished 2nd in scoring and 4th against the pass but they are the 17th rated D against the run.

For comparison Bills D finished 4th in scoring and 7th against the pass and where a couple spots ahead of the Chiefs at 15th against the run.

This game more than likely will come down to Mahomes and Pacheco against Allen and Cook and who controls the clock. As both teams are very good at limiting explosive plays down field.

Good thing that 15th rank against the rush has a lot of data without DaQuan in there. I'm so glad we have him back this year unlike the Cincy disaster against the run last year. He can control the line of scrimmage and we'll need him to. Mafia needs to be going berzerk all night too, Mahomes should not be able to hear himself think, audible communication should be nearly impossible. False starts every other drive putting them in a hole. LFGGGGGG
