It was all there if you watched the games. He played well against a couple of good WRs and teams fell in love with what he could be instead of what he was.  Terrible tackler, inconsistent in coverage, capable of getting completely lost in scheme.  I thought he was being overvalued a lot in pre draft and was absolutely shocked when Bills took him. I watch all UF games and I wasn’t a fan of his game.  I had hope that maybe it was just Mullen’s terrible staff that was the issue and talked myself into the pick trusting Beane.  He played decent in yr 1 at times, but the chance he develops is slim at this point.  Maybe it was hubris with the Bills staff and FO.  There just isn’t much of a place for him other than outside CB and the Bills don’t trust him there.

Beane will want to get back into the 3rd almost as much as he'll want to move up in the first.  Will be difficult to do both unless he foolishly gives away next year's picks.

Is there an argument to be made to pull forward picks to this year for difference makers on cheap contracts then spend big in FA next year on remaining holes with all the cap that's been cleared which then starts the new 3-4 year window with the new stadium?

  3. In the PFF simulator I can trade into the top 5/6/7 with #28, #133, Minnesota's 2025 2nd, and Kaiir Elam. No chance in hell something like that actually works right? Are they just using Kaiir's draft status plus 5th year option when calcing his value? Any chance a man scheme team that liked him 2 years ago values him as a day 2/high day 3 value for a trade up?

Honestly, that’s a great question .. and the answer to that is depressing to think about.

    Reality:

Spags and Anarumo are better DC’s than what we have/have had in McDermott, Frazier etc.

CIN doesn’t have any reason to have a defense they can rely on like that in the playoffs, aside from the fact their coaching and schematics are on another level.

But we have what we have, so it is what it is.  Which is why we needed a Von Miller, before that blew up in our face.

But the fact is, the year they went to the Super Bowl, they still had 3 elite impact players.   Just all on one side of the ball.

Not to mention DJ Reader played a lot more like a Chris Jones level impact than Ed Oliver level in the playoffs (a.k.a. neutralized completely)

I honestly think Beane will trade this years 1st.......

    To move down not up.

I think in a vacuum there are many trade downs I could get behind but not this year. There is no way in hell I want KC getting first crack at a WR

Here I stand, watching the Chiefs celebrate, alone on the field. My teammates have all gone. Not that they don't have drive and passion, or feel the sting of loss. They do, but not like me. I feel the sting like no other. That is why my teammates, my friends, my Brothers have gone inside, and I stand here, alone on the field.

I am going to the hospital to see my fallen comrade and Brother in arms who defied death on the field today. I go as is required by what is true and right, for there is no greater bond than that of Brothers under fire. I do not think less of my teammates or coaches for all going back to Buffalo. There are not many who are burdened like I am. My heart and determination drive me onward. Though you be in a coma Dalmar, fear not, for I am coming.

I do not know for how much longer I can hold this team at this level. I tell them they need to do the things that I do to sustain greatness, but they do not listen. They do not understand for they are just Josh, or Sean, or Tre, or Von, and I am Him. I am Him upon whom my Brothers can rely. I am Him who will work, and toil, and bear the load for all. I am Him who will always stay loyal to those I love. I am Him, but they will not listen, and I fear that they will not be helped.

These thoughts were those solely of Dibs' imaginings and should in no way be taken or inferred as to be factually from Diggs' head.

    I'll never forget you, Dalmar!

This is an extremely weak RB class and these guys will go higher than they should due to lack of depth / talent

To me we should wait until next year once we have Cook figured out so we know what he is. Plus next years RB class is absolutely STACKED.

Not the year to go RB

Yes, OLine early over RB every damn day. Take as many day 3 shots on RB as you want but please no more premium picks on RB

I said it before, but I feel like fans are hoping for a big splash to overcompensate for losing Diggs.

Remember what we gave up to the Vikings to get Diggs? We'd have to give up even more to move so far up in the draft. Even though Diggs did well for us, had we been more confident & drafted well, we could've stayed put & drafted Justin Jefferson ourselves.

And to make this kind of trade for a WR? That wreaks of desperation.

Look at what the Chiefs traded us to move up to #10 & draft Mahomes... a guy who changed the destiny of their franchise & turned them into a dynasty. Do we think any of these WRs are THAT impactful that they could so something similar?

And are they going to be so absurdly good that they're more valuable than the 2 x 1st rounders, 2 x 2nd rounders and additional picks we could've drafted? As fun as it is to imagine one of those top 3 guys on our team, I don't think it's a smart move to mortgage so much of our future on that prospect.

Take a gander at who the Browns drafted with their Julio Jones haul. Atlanta won that trade by a LONG shot

This was the trade that immediately came to mind.

The Falcons moved up from 27 to 6 to get Julio Jones.

We would probably need to move up from 28 to about 4-5.

Jones was a borderline Hall of Famer.  Was this trade worth it for the Falcons?

    Cleveland turned this into:

    Phil Taylor

    Greg Little

    Owen Marecic

    Brandon Weeden

    James-Michael Johnson

    LOL

Odunze would be tempting at 10-12 but it still would be too expensive. Trade up a couple picks if Thomas is there.

at #12 it would probably only cost this year's first, next year's first, and maybe one of our late 4th/early 5th this year? Then you could use later round 2024 picks to trade into next year (we shouldn't make 10+ picks this year anyway) and have a bevy of picks then to move up and replace some of the 2025 1st round value lost. If Odunze is a true X difference maker for Josh for years to come, will anyone care?

And then you wake up from your dream!!

If the Bills traded every pick they have this year, they wouldn't get even close to the #8 pick.  If they added in next years 2nd round they may get close to #8 along with every other pick this year.

The Bills can trade a boatload of their draft picks to move up from the 5th to maybe the top half of the 4th.

Maybe you should some research before posting.

If Nabers is there I think a team with a ton of holes that need more picks like the Giants or Bears would make the deal with us.

    For #6 could probably go:

    2024 R1 (#28)

    2024 R4 (#128)

    2024 R5 (#144)

    2024 R6 (#189)

    2025 R1 (TBD)

    2025 R3 (TBD)

    2025 R4 (TBD)

Less obviously if it's for #9.

That leaves us with minimum 7 picks remaining this year (remember only 3 of our picks last year made the roster plus Shorter on "IR") plus 6 picks next year when our comp picks hit. And Josh gets a Ferrari on a rookie deal for the next five years. Everyone wins.

  12. Totally agree on the McGovern smokescreen. I think they're looking at C high, potentially at #28 or early 2nd with a trade back. I'm fine with that IF they clear more cap and make a trade for a guy like Courtland Sutton then take advantage of the WR class depth by taking an upside freak on day 2 and another on day 3

  13. This is why I would make a huge move up as far as #6 if Nabers is still there. I think he will be elite in short order for the next 8 years or so, the first half of which would be on a cost-controlled deal. Will have to use some resources to make it happen of course, but I don't see us obtaining another "elite" WR via free agency any time soon, so make it happen through the draft.

  14. Anyone feel any different after the dust settled? Pretty sure with Allen, Dawkins, and Taron Johnson extensions we can get way under the cap now. A reasonable trade for a vet X like Sutton at $12mil fits easily. Sign a starting quality 1Tech, a serviceable starting FS, and some cost-conscious depth then we're set at every starting position on both sides of the ball and can go BPA across the board on draft day, take several swings at WRs with upside whether that be X, Z, or slot, but not pressured to get an immediate starting X at #28 or feel the need to trade up.
