I’m certainly no fan of McD, but the 9-11 thing is being blown WAY out of proportion. Was it dumb and insensitive? Yes. But that in and of itself is no reason to fire him. Everybody, at one time or another, says something dumb and insensitive in their lives, but not everybody is scrutinized for everything they say. Plus, he was right about the terrorists teamwork. 😉 If the Bills somehow manage to get in to the playoffs, and then win a couple games, and not lose a game because of his buffoonery, he probably deserves another year at the helm.

Game Thread: TNF: New England at Pittsburgh

Wanna revise this take? 🤔😂 -
As I have gotten older, this has become my same feeling more and more every year. I also do enjoy watching the Bills, but like others have said, my expectations are really low now, so when they lose or look like crap, it doesn't really affect me. There are many, many more things in this life to worry about. For me personally, my & my wife's health are my #1 concern now. Bottom line is that the only guarantees in this life are death and taxes, so you better live every day to the fullest! As somebody once said, "Don't sweat the small stuff."

If they're Bills fans, and it's game day, I would concur with this statement. 😂 -
I did too, and I strongly disagree. Even though they lost those 4 SBs, my opinion is that that era of being a fan was WAY BETTER than the "trust the process" excrement we've had to deal with over the past 6 years. We trusted Kelly & crew (and the defense) to pull out wins, and more often than not, they did. This current team (and coaches) has *potential* for sure, but they're just not consistent or reliable. Beating a dead horse here, but a new era is needed, and it starts with getting rid of McDermott. 😉

Beane Presser 12.6.23 - interesting comments on Von

One pretty amazing thing (and sad too) about this whole situation is that Von has been with this woman for the past 7 years, and they have two children together, and the one on the way. So an educated guess is that they do love and care deeply for each other. And even if they have a “toxic” relationship, something really bad must have happened in order to make her “snap” and call 911. IMHO, it was the act by Von of choking her (verified by the first cops on the scene, who observed injuries consistent with a person being choked). Was Von roided up? Was he impaired by some other means? In any case, I can’t honestly believe that the Bills are going to let Von Miller trot out onto the field in Kansas City. If they do let him play, I predict that he is going to get booed incessantly anytime he sets foot on the playing field. It won’t be a good look for the organization. -

Von should be suspended today, and then they should find a way to get rid of him ASAP. The Buffalo Bills don't need a wife beater on the team. As I said in another thread: That she called 911 and asked for the cops to come and help her is a stone cold fact, not an accusation. Of course, that call was recorded. Obviously, she feared for her safety, or maybe even her life. That the initial cops on the scene (who got there shortly after she called 911) saw a woman in distress with visible bruises on her body is another stone cold fact. Reportedly she made an audio or video recording of the incident. I have not seen the police report, but if that recording exists, then it's another stone cold fact of the situation. The three paragraphs above surely are why the police arrested VM. IOW, it’s not a “he said she said”, because there is some hard evidence (especially the bruises, without those, I’d be a lot less sure about this matter). The notion that she later recanted her story is not surprising AT ALL. She does not want Von to lose MILLIONS of dollars and/or be jailed, as then her life would be severely affected. DV victims do the recanting of violence from their abusers ALL THE TIME, especially when lots of $$$ is involved. -
Von Miller faces arrest in domestic violence case in Dallas

WTH!? HE DIDN’T DO A RAPE, but he did admit that they had sex OUTSIDE of the house, just him & her. THERE’S ABSOLUTELY ZERO EVIDENCE THAT HE RAPED THAT WOMAN….NONE, NADA, ZERO, ZILCH. -

You and I are usually pretty much on the same wavelength, but I'm confounded here. That she called 911 and asked for the cops to come and help her is a stone cold fact, not an accusation. Of course, that call was recorded. That the initial cops on the scene (who got there shortly after she called 911) saw a woman in distress with visible bruises on her body is another stone cold fact. And like I said above, reportedly she made an audio or video recording of the incident. I have not seen the police report, but if that's in there, then it's another stone cold fact of the situation (which may help or hurt VM; we don’t know yet). I guess your "it's only an accusation" is referring to whether or not VM was the guy who caused her to call 911 for help, or the guy who caused the bruises on her body? So, unless she injured herself, or someone else was there in the apt and that person beat her....both of which are highly unlikely, especially when you consider VM's past history of DV....he's a wife beater, end of story. Bench him, suspend him, and find a good way to get rid of him ASAP. What he did is about a million times worse than what Matt A. was accused of, and as we found out, Matt A. did not do. -

Everybody and their Mother can plainly see this, so what are the brain trust at OBD & down in south Florida (Terry Pegula) waiting for?! It's very puzzling. -

So, his girlfriend called 911, and said she needs the cops to come over because VM is out of control...that's a fact. She obviously was in fear of getting hurt, or maybe even in fear for her life. Cops show up shortly thereafter and see visible bruises on her body, and bruises ON HER NECK.....that's factual, as it’s in the police report. The latter is certainly why the arrest warrant was issued. Any woman can call 911 and make up stories to "get back" at their man, but that alone won't cause an arrest, because anybody can make up anything. Plus as mentioned WAY upthread, *supposedly* she turned on her phone to record, and then put it in her pocket. I'm reasonably sure that the initial cops on the scene listened to that recording, and that also probably played into VM being charged. I would hope somewhere in his contract he has a "morals" clause, or something similar, where choking your pregnant girlfriend calls for a suspension. But who knows, maybe there is nothing to address this matter. 😧 -
Calling it now: Bills are going to at least reach the AFCCG
Bob Jones replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
@Royale with Cheese Thank you for that detailed answer. I still think that they should have come in to OBD last week for film study, etc. on Monday-Wednesday, and definitely should not have had off yesterday (if that’s what happened) because, you know, they just had 7 days prior off, AND THEY HAVE TO WIN FIVE STRAIGHT GAMES TO ENSURE GETTING IN TO THE PLAYOFFS. But like I said elsewhere in here, we’ll see what happens Sunday, and then after that too. -
It’s Chiefs week - and the season is on the line

So the bye "week" is actually 9 days off?! Just mind boggling. Guess we'll all see on Sunday how it works out. -

Just saw this on X. Does this mean that the team had no practices on Monday or Tuesday? If yes, that would mean only 3 days prep for the game on Sunday (travel day on Saturday). Please tell me this isn’t correct. -
You're not wrong. He "played the system" better than anyone ever did. And truth be told, it was smart, and any of us in the same position would probably have done the same thing. Don’t get me wrong, I hate the guy for all the torment he has inflicted upon Bills fans over the years, but the SB wins and other stats speak for themselves; he was the GOAT. And people taking shots at him now is laughable. If you're the GOAT, what you say about the game is pertinent. What he says is about a million times more pertinent than ANY talking head sports show "expert." Most of the latter folks don't even have as much knowledge about the game as most of us commenting in here.

Actually, I played HS football, baseball, and hockey. And then some league hockey later on, and of course, softball. LOL These guys have ONE physically taxing day A WEEK. Practices are a joke, with virtually no contact. I guarantee you we had more contact in HS practice, EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK, than these guys do. And I’m old enough to remember when the NFL did NOT have a bye week. How on earth did players even make it through the season!? 🤔😂 -

Bob Jones replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
This was debated heavily in another thread in here last week, and you’re right, most teams give the players the whole week off…..but, when you’re a team who needs to go 5-0 to get into the dance, maybe you go above and beyond? -
Calling it now: Bills are going to at least reach the AFCCG
Bob Jones replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes you can. The CBA just stipulates that they must have 4 days off, to include Saturday. So Thursday - Sunday would have met that. Edit: I meant to say Monday - Wednesday above, not Monday - Friday. -
Calling it now: Bills are going to at least reach the AFCCG
Bob Jones replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
LOL indeed. Uh huh, right. Prove it. I mean, JA17 came right out before the start of the season and said something to the effect of “I’m not a big film guy.” Watching film to see what a defense (routinely) does is pretty high up on a QB’s list of things to study, to help him be successful. And he looked like crap in the first game of the year, and no, it wasn’t Dorsey’s fault. Again, if they were serious about wanting to go 5-0 for the rest of the year, they would have held practice last week on Monday-Wednesday , but they didn’t. Edit to state correct days that they could have practiced. -

I am dead serious. Most people will always take the "easy way out." I've witnessed it firsthand over and over and over again in my 60+ years on this earth. What makes you think that pro athletes are any different? Many, MANY people in this country are of the current sentiment that having someone else pay their way through life (the easy way out) would be just fine. Most of those who feel that way are the younger generations (same age as most football players). Now don't get me wrong, the analogy isn't perfect because the athletes are mostly millionaires, and are in a vastly different/better position than those 20 and 30 somethings who live in Mommy's basement, but the idea of taking the easy way out is the same. Do you really think that every single pro athlete has the burning desire and drive to "go all the way", and extend their taxing 6-month season even longer for a little extra cash? Do they seem like they go "all out" every week and every game? Do they come in on their week off for extra prep because they know they have to win 5 straight games to ensure a playoff berth? Did they do anything "extra" when they had the 10 days off before the Bengals game, or did they take Friday - Sunday off after the Thursday night game? C'mon man, get real. -

My main point was addressing the bye week value and the 10 days off value, AND that the fans care more about a winning season than the players do, as they have NOT shown us at all this season that they are willing to go "above & beyond." I'd bet the farm that a lot of players will be happy as hell to NOT make the playoffs, so they don't have to have an extended season. I may be wrong, but hat's what I see as far as their efforts on the field. Too many missed tackles, bonehead plays, and poor execution screams out to me "I just don't care, and I'm only here for a paycheck."
