  1. Probably not. Sorry, posted the Bernard comment in wrong thread. Will delete in this one and move...
  2. Dumb move if he thinks Huntley can help the Ravens be a contender.
  3. Guys, I don't think most people commenting here understand what the Cover 1 mock draft was about... It was dealing with a random computer-generated mock and they had to pick from the remaining players that the computer left them each round. The three guys said several times that the generation was NOT kind to them in the first two rounds. And a no-trade rule. This is NOT who they advocate the Bills should pick; it was just a fun exercise of playing with some draft generator and justifying who the Bills should take based on where the board happened to fall. The Cover 1 guy said he wanted WR, O-line or MLB first round. But none of the players the guys liked at those positions happened to be left at 27. They also acknowledged that Beane wound not wait if a guy he really like was a few spots away; Beane would swing a trade. Relax. They're not saying pick edge with 27th overall.
  4. We were a top-5 team last year but unless we're fully healthy — with Von, Hyde and Poyer — winning a championship is going to be very tough. Top 5 beats where we were for almost two decades but it ain't good enough without good health and good luck. Maybe new talent this year, and good health, will change that.
  5. A player with elite size/speed who is a hard worker is a great combo. I'd be ok with giving up a third to get that if Beane thinks he can succeed at the next level. Even if it takes him a couple years to really hit his potential (I'm not saying he doesn't contribute in the first couple years though), by then we can let Steff go and free up a lot of cap space.
  6. I've read here many times by knowledgeable posters that Torrence is not a fit for our O-line scheme. So what's happening? 1) The fans' scouting is off. 2) The Bills pros' scouting is off. 3) The Bills know he's not a natural fit but want to take him and make him work in our scheme all the same (they have a history, like with AJ and Basham of trying to change early-round picks). 4) The Bills want to change their O-line scheme. 5) It's a red herring to throw off our true drafting intentions. I'm curious what those with more expertise think as this seems like a disconnect.
  7. Bryce Ford-Wheaton is 221 lb. Holy cow. That size/speed/weight combo is enticing. If he's a 4th round project(ion), considering the Bills pick at the bottom of each round, is it reasonable to spend a third on him?
  8. Buffalo News article (may be behind paywall) where McVay has some nice things to say about Edwards: https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/new-bills-offensive-lineman-david-edwards-was-critical-factor-for-rams-coach-sean-mcvay-said/article_96141a2c-ce83-11ed-b1eb-8bce2010a129.html A couple highlights: “Aaron Kromer was instrumental in his development,” McVay said. “And so, I know he's really excited to be able to get him back with him.” “He's been a critical factor at the left guard spot for us for a long period of time,” McVay said. “(The Bills are) getting a great player, great person, great athleticism, for the size that he plays with, on the inside.”
  9. First of all, I must say that this tradition is quite the phenomenon: "The 21st annual Name 2 players Brandon Beane will select in the 2023 NFL Draft" The fact that this board had been predicting who Beane will select in the 2023 draft for 21 years is astounding — most players weren't even born when the tradition started. And Beane was probably just emptying trash bins in some locker room, a long way from running the Bills. Here are my entries: 1. Darnell Wright 2. Johathan Mingo
  10. The guy can play both sides. If Brown ends up elevating his game, at worst we have one great backup tackle; at best we have Dawkin's replacement in a year or two for a lot less money. Great problem to have: too many good tackles.
  11. I would gladly give up a 4th to get a tackle that may be the best in the class. Draft MLB in the second, WR in the 3rd and that's a good draft right there.
  12. Sanders' blitzing prowess is a huge point of difference, but other than that (which could be huge) they may be similar.
  13. Whether it's Wright or someone else, I'd be happier going tackle in the first round. Offense is more important today and getting cheaper tackle labor through the draft vs. free agency will be more cost effective than getting cheaper MLB labor. Draft the higher-paid position all other things being equal or close.
  14. "“Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson, a likely top-five pick, says that Tennessee’s Darnell Wright is the best OT he faced in college. Anderson mentioned how much better Wright got year-to-year. Pointed to his ability to mirror rushers and anchor at his size.” https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2023/04/source-buffalo-bills-to-host-tennessee-ot-darnell-wright-on-top-30-visit.html
  15. The ability for our MLB to blitz well could be a significant element in the team's ability to pressure elite QBs. I'm not college fan but the little I've read and seen of Sanders looks very good. That said, I'd be happy taking a good O-lineman in the first.
  16. Obviously not a big deal but cool to see a back wearing 4. On a playing note, I think Cook will have a consistent impact this year with better blocking and more opportunities. I think he can be a weapon as a runner or pass catcher in a variety of packages and sometimes with Harris on the field.
  17. Nice summary. Not deep in analysis but better than a lot of "journalists" offer. Good to hear he thinks Sherfield (formerly with Miami) can help and is a good run blocker. Not getting my hopes up but if one of the two guards is better than what we've been used to and one of the two WRs can contribute I'll be happy. I feel pretty good about Harris and think he will improve the run game.
  18. I know this sounds trite but I hope you and your family are doing ok. I've lost people early too but that's way too soon. You are, sadly, one of the few who can empathize with Dawson.
  19. If we have another early playoff exit sign me up... [read in a Chris Rock voice] Yeah, I said it. I said it!
  20. I'm both baffled and disappointed with the Bernard pick but... I checked Milano's scouting report and lo and behold he ran just a 4.67 at 223 lb. So — and to be clear I'm not saying this will happen — maybe they're projecting Bernard to be another Milano-style linebacker. That's my only guess. Taking a guy in the third as a backup and special teams player is madness. Let's hope we're all wrong about Bernard and McBeane come out outsmarting us on this one.
  21. Well, I've looked at the top-10 receiver duos in the league and Davis' numbers stick out as the worst for consistency with maybe the exception of 32-year-old Thielen in Minny — and with Cousins throwing to him. Also, and I think this is huge, we have a top-3 QB in Allen so I don't want our number two guy posting merely acceptable or average numbers — I want him to have dominant numbers as a reflection of who is throwing to him. I — and many others — strongly disagree that Davis' numbers are "the nature of random numbers." Some athletes are streaky and others are consistent. I think consistency is a huge virtue as a number two guy because there will be games and teams who figure out how to minimize Diggs — and that's when we need the number two guy to step up. And what, God forbid, if Diggs gets hurt? Belichick has been famous for taking away a team's top weapon and others will do it to us too. We need a guy that gives us a dependable high-end receiving weapon. Maybe that will be Knox (we need to throw to him more to find out) but until then, it has to be our number two WR. I think most observers and fans here don't think that Davis is a high-end number two guy. You do and that's your right but many, including myself, think differently and want a replacement.
  22. If what the victim alleges is true, I hope Willie loses all his TV deals and sponsorships. That apology is meaningless and what every criminal says after he's caught.
  23. Show me another #2 receiver with a top quarterback that had a stretch of 6 games last year with 4 game under 40 yards receiving. I looked at the top-10 receiver combos last year and NO ONE was as inconsistent as Gabe. And that's with Josh Allen throwing to him. Please show me a top QB with a number two guy with the long stretches of low-yardage games like Gabe.
  24. Exactly. I think most people believe we'd be better off with a consistent chain mover from out #2 guy then someone who explodes for 171 yards one game but in a six-week span puts up this yardage (and near the end of the season): 33 35 74 171 13 37 Really? Some of you want that 171 yard big game from Davis and you're good with with four out of six games with 37 yards or less? Really, that's good #2 production? Not for me. Way too much pressure on Diggs to have monster games and for Josh to run for first downs. Give me a #2 guy that gets 60 to 80 yards from Josh freakin' Allen most weeks. But keep looking at yardage totals and tell yourself he's what the BIlls need.
