  1. Good interview. Dion is a fun guy. Good to hear him praise Buffalo's fans the way he does. Not sure what Cowherd means when he insists that a team with a running QB who goes off script (like Josh can do) has a harder time establishing a run game with the backs — is he suggesting that the linemen are less focused on written-up plays? Not sure I agree.
  2. Kudos to Dalton. I hope Boogie has a good reason for not attending Von's summit.
  3. Crazy take. Josh is going to golf tournaments in the off-season so he's "partying too much." Josh bought a beach house so he's somehow lost his competitive edge. Josh is dating a female actor so he's unfocused and should be traded. How many times did we hear about Josh getting in trouble with the law? Making an ass of himself drunk or high? Saying controversial statements about the direction of this team? Go back to your blessed 1940s.
  4. This is a very enlightened perspective, chongli. And I mean that with no trace of sarcasm. The issue, for me, and I suspect many others, is compassion fatigue. I have to worry about all the suffering, crime, and needless wars in the world, plus a family issue that wears me out constantly and will for years, and at the end of it I have zero sympathy or care left for people like OJ. And the baser part of me will say good riddance when he dies. Or, if he suffers first, think that maybe sometimes karma actually happens (in truth, I don't believe in karma and think it's all random)... If I have any shred of compassion and care left in me, it will go to the victims' families all these years later before it goes to OJ. And my $.02 on the question of putting his name on the wall of the new stadium: Yes, it's meant to honor great players. But on rare occasions, greater issues in life — and greater values than respecting the highest level of sports accomplishments — should trump playing on the field, no matter how great. Respect for human life, and the disavowing of those who do not hold that respect, trumps a legendary career as a Bill.
  5. I really appreciated watching this. But the best part was cut off at the very end... Emmanuel Acho, a former linebacker, said on the D (and Shady agreed this applies on offense too) you NEVER publicly sell out your teammate for a mistake. "Don't ever under any circumstance sell your teammate out publicly." And Diggs doing the hands out on the sideline of the CIncy game was that. Acho said "immature" or "uncalculated" people do this. The video literally ends with Acho calling up the CIncy clip as an example of this... But the conversation doesn't get finished. 😕 I agree. Diggs may have a legit point but he was immature and wrong in his handling of it. My $.02. Good to see former players, Acho and Shady agree on this point.
  6. That's nuttier than Tua learning how to fall. I had a subscription on a deal but didn't renew. The Buff News writers just take press conferences and repackage them with some editorial rehash of what the players and coaches say. No real insight and analysis beyond the cursory kind you get from most of this board. And no deep interviews. I much prefer the Cover 1 videos that really break down the Xs and Os of the Bills (when those boys graduate from high school, look out!). Or longer interviews like Josh with McAfee and his boys. All free.
  7. My bad! I was wondering, at first if it was, but then I was like, nah... But It's ringing more of a bell now...
  8. All much ado about nothing. The media should report on things when a coach is "very concerned." The leader of our offense should not look frazzled about any media reports and just do his job on the field.
  9. I have no doubt the reports are true. I was referencing a guy on this board who inspired much mirth by talking about the "high level meetings" he had to attend. It was a thing here for a while.
  10. Comparing different eras with stats is almost futile. What I am encouraged by, however, is that Manning went from throwing a lot of turnovers to becoming one of the most cerebral QBs in the game. I'm not saying Josh will become Peyton, but I have hope his football IQ and decision making can still improve substantially over the next couple of years.
  11. Yes, decision making is key. I hope the addition of Kincaid will help him take first downs more often over lower-percentage 20-30 yard throw, especially across the field. Josh is a great guy with generational talent but he has not been consistently very smart with his decisions. Certainly not last year. He can still hit bigger play from time to time but consistently taking the 7-12 yarders will make the defense respect the short-throw game more and not guard against the deep stuff as much. Plus, I'm hopeful Kincaid can be a YAC guy and turn a 4-yard pass into 8 yards or a 12-yarder into 18...
  12. A very interesting (and truthful) way to frame this... Of course it would leave a gaping hole in the roster for a WR 1 — and we don't have the the cap space to replace him with Hopkins. This idea — as an theoretical exercise only — seems to make sense if the trade involves a WR 1 on a rookie deal (in additional to any other draft pick compensation). Jerry Jeudy, as an example, has a cap hit of $2.7 million this year. I'm guessing that could be managed to fit if the Bills wanted that deal. Not saying it should be done, but it could — IF the Bills wanted a young WR on a rookie deal — to replace Stef. The question would then be, why would another team trade a good WR 1 on a rookie deal for an aging Diggs on a huge contract.
  13. Once Stefon is past his prime, I would be good with spending more money to get elite O-linemen and settle for good but not great receivers. If there is to be a compromise — and managing an NFL roster when you're paying an elite QB demands it — then that's the one I'll make. That said, I'm reasonably confident that when that time comes Kincaid will be elite.
  14. Great article. It's not about dropping or catching a ball on a field, it's about picking yourself up from some dark, dark lows to live life with purpose and peace. Much respect to Zay. And Carr and Waller.
  15. I was ready to laugh at these but they actually look pretty smart for regular human walking (longer distances). I know...
  16. We beat the Bengals if we have these shoes... (go to 9:49 to see them in action)
  17. Has there ever been a situation where a player with a massive cap hit converted signing bonus into salary to help facilitate a trade? Not saying this should be done; just curious if ever a player who wanted out of a team did this to lessen dead cap and make a trade doable.
  18. Mahomes recently said he doesn't need to be the highest paid player. Considering he's the most accomplished QB and most valuable player in the league, that's what we're up against: “It’s not about being the highest-paid guy,” Mahomes said. “It’s not about making a ton of money. I’ve made enough money where I’ll be set for the rest of my life. But at the same time, you got to find that line where you’re making a good amount of money but you’re still keeping like great players around you so you can win these Super Bowls and you’re able to compete in these games.” https://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/for-petes-sake/article275756221.html#storylink=cpy I wouldn't be surprised if 9 out of 10 QBs go for the most money but I would be happy to have the outlier who doesn't demand the most so the team can better compete. Does Josh need his ego to be fed, or does he still want to make more money than he will ever spend but have a better shot at a real legacy?
  19. The real measure of Beane's ability — and Josh's commitment to winning with the Bills — will be when he signs his next one. Will he want to be number one or two again? Or will he do a Brady and accept a reasonably hefty deal but not one that hamstrings the organization's ability to spend on other players. I hope it's the latter, but I won't be sure till if and when it happens.
  20. Fantastic story and such a good, smart, funny and giving kid. Thanks for sharing. We've got hundreds of people freaking out because a blowhard tv personality said something bad about our team but that doesn't matter. THIS matters.
  21. I could be wrong but the "by far" does, to me, sound like a shot at Allen. He could have ended it at the line "Dak is the best leader I've played with." Done. But the "by far" automatically brings up more of a comparison. How much better is Dak? He's a lot better than the other QBs Beasley played with — "by far." As does the line that it can't be taught. Beasley was very good on the field (until he wasn't) but he's got a big mouth and likes to rankle people/prove his "points."
  22. If Harty splits time in the slot with Kincaid (and I don't mean 50/50; it could be 30/70, whatever) I think defenses will have a very hard time adjusting from big and smooth Kincaid to tiny and explosive Harty. Just tackling these two different players almost seems like polar opposites. If we want a change-up in the slot, I think Harty will, perhaps in smaller doses, give defenses fits. And I fully expect Kincaid to be a beast in the slot. I'm looking forward to slot play after a crap year of it.
  23. Great to hear Allen looking very sharp and manipulating the D with his eyes. Also very good to hear that Sherfield has been very consistent and looks like he's winning the battle for the next WR spot (I read elsewhere that Shakir also had a good minicamp). No, that's no guarantee of anything when the real games come but he's still just 27 (has a few good years left) and is 219 and runs a 4.45 40 — I like this size (more muscle than height, though) and speed combo... And he's got a great story (some may not care, but I like to see good people succeed if they put in the work). Any summary of how Harty did in minicamp?
  24. Somewhere in between. I think if we don't win at least a couple playoff games the seat is very hot...
  25. Good. Glad to see the competition has to deal with this BS too with one of their star players.
