  1. As long as Davis himself is not responsible for holding onto and delivering said footballs...
  2. Very refreshing and surprising. It dispels the old cliched response that players are only focused on one game at a time and don't look ahead on the schedule. It also sets up some very high expectations that, if they are not met, will result in tough questions and answers It dispels the meaningless myth that they need to win every game. That is so abstract that it actually means nothing. There is room for error, and Von acknowledges that, but he's also acknowledging that the margin for error is almost razor thin. Very good to hear. This should be entertaining, at the very least, no matter which way it plays out.
  3. If they're doing his wrist, can they fix his hands while they're there? I kid. Mostly.
  4. One could make a compelling argument that the last three games are very close to a collapse. A loss this week to Tampa, and I think the pitchforks will be out — and for good reason.
  5. I only saw the second half but was pleasantly surprised to learn from the Cover 1 video that 50.7% of his yardage was YAC. We don't have a lot of players who do that, especially with shorter routes. I said before that by the end of 2024 he will displace Knox as our number 1 TE; but that prediction may have to be revised to happen in 2023.
  6. Is it just me or does Hurts look a lot like Evander Holyfield, and a lot older than he is?
  7. As bad as I feel about earlier, it feels very good to see the Phins losing by a couple of TDs late in the game. God, I hate this team this year.
  8. Thanks for that but that was pre-Allen and I don't think with Tyrod that anyone expected a deep playoff run in 2016.
  9. Is there a recent example of a team like the Bills firing a coordinator mid-season? And by that I mean with a winning record and expectations of a deep playoff run? And an example where that mid-season coordinator change led to a championship? Not being sarcastic here, I'd like to know if that's happened recently and is a precedent.
  10. The math is not, as you suggest, totally obvius. But the fact that Diggs is 11th in the NFL in first read targets suggests, to me at least, that Diggs is usually the first read. Also, he's far and away our best target so I would be surprised if Diggs is not the first read the majority of the time. That said, outside of the stats, the eye test tells us Josh doesn't always spread the ball around enough. Not every game but some games he locks onto Steph too much. I think it's a trust issue. When this offense can consistently spread the ball around to multiple targets, it will be very, very hard to stop.
  11. I'm sure by the end of next season Kincaid can improve his blocking skills to be good enough to be a starter. There are a lot of starting TEs who aren't great blockers. The kid looks like a hard and diligent worker. You don't run routes like that by accident.
  12. Thanks for that. This seems to blow up the narrative that the ball is forced to Diggs too much. Interesting about Kincaid vs. Knox in terms of catch rate. That does support the narrative that Knox is not a consistent catcher. Just a hunch, but by the end of 2024 Kincaid will have displaced Knox as the number one TE.
  13. I don't want to make any of those judgments at this point but I am very, very pleasantly surprised that our second and first-year linebackers are doing well. I no longer think the starting LBs will be a playoff-run killer. And that's a lot to say given 95% of this board was ready to crucify Beane for these two third-round picks.
  14. I've been listening to the One Bills Live show, and talking to AJ, Chis used the word "repertoire" several times and pronounced it like this every time: Reh-pe-twah I wanted to smack Chris' bald head with all my might. He thinks he's being sophisticated but he's being a smack-worthy fool. Sorry, had to vent. Go to 4:56 for the first of many such offenses. https://www.buffalobills.com/video/a-j-epenesa-defensive-line-dominant-in-leading-the-nfl-in-sacks
  15. Buddhist philosophy says unfulfilled desire is the root of suffering. So, as our expectations have risen significantly since the time of FItz and Edwards — yet they are unfulfilled — your thinking makes sense. At least to me and Buddhists.
  16. I don't think many here have said the McDermott is responsible for Josh's success, exactly, but the team's culture shift, and the defensive success. Who has said McDermott made Josh a great QB? The question many debate is this: Are the Bills better off with a proven offensive coach who can lead not just the team but Allen — and thus preclude the revolving door of OCs we will have if we sustain offensive success which will lead to OCs getting head coach jobs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's the more prevalent question here. I'm sure some head coaches could do a better job with Allen. That may or may not come at the expense of our "culture" and defensive success. If we have an early and embarrassing playoff exit this year, I would not cry if we moved in another coaching direction though I doubt that would happen this offseason as Terry trusts McDermott and may give him a longer leash than many, or even most, will like.
  17. It feels like with Gabe that if you take away the big plays, there's not enough of the steady chain-moving 6 to 10-yard (air yards) plays that we need. From my number 2, I'll take consistently moving the chains over one or two big plays a game but not much else. I think Davis has a very limited route tree and it's hurting our consistency.
  18. I like AJ's play so far but he is, as Ethan in Cleveland has said, still a backup. We are tight against the cap and, depending on how we draft, may have to sign in free agency... #2 WR Maybe one starting safety as Hyde will be a FA (remember, Rapp is on a one-year deal) resign Daquan Jones or a replacement Maybe an RT Maybe a starting cornerback That won't be cheap. In a perfect cap world we keep AJ but backup defensive end is not a top priority compared with those starting positions.
  19. Way overpaid. They need more deals like Floyd, and fewer like Knox.
  20. Pretty pleased with the D, especially the LBs. Yes, Barkley ripped off a couple big runs late but all in all, they played well Still don't believe in Davis as a legit number 2; too much is on the shoulders of Diggs and no one else.
  21. He's just sad because he knows he's going to lose.
  22. I think the scrum may be good for the mindset of the offense.
  23. Good teams make adjustments. We saw it against us for 17 years.
