  1. I thought this exact same thing yesterday. I guess the finer points of this philosophy are predicated on... A) Us running better than the other team B) Us passing better than the other team and limiting our explosive pass attempts but not ruling them out C) This year we're getting YAC D) We have Josh Allen, who is unique With a defense that is playing some average people as starters (Rapp/Hamlin, D line) we're going to have to pick our poison. I personally am ok with the Belichick philosophy with "make them beat you by taking away, or limiting, their best weapon," which against the Phins was Hill and then Waddle. When Josh doesn't turn the ball over, plays smart, and our WRs are not injured, I think we've got a very good chance most games. The Coleman pass was all on Keon. Until we the D-line gets better this defense will be far from perfect and will have to make concessions. We just don't have the personnel to play perfect D.
  2. I don't think McD philosophically likes to play the 4-3 and prefers living and dying by the nickle. Not saying it's right (I'd like to see some vs the Ravens, for example, at least early before we take a lead), just his preference. We'll see.
  3. Yes, a light box is going to pay the price against Henry. I'm not sure McD is going to roll out 3 LBs, however. Not sure what to do there. with just 2 LB. A third safety? That's kinda how they see Taron, I think.
  4. I hear you. But getting gashed for 200 yards by Hill and Waddle doesn't feel better. And the more plays in a drive, the more of a chance it stalls or there's a turnover. The solution is to play better run D and to build an early lead. The constant runs are less viable as time runs out. But if there's 3 minutes left and we're up 2 scores I don't feel good if Hill has caught a couple bombs earlier in the game. I don't think Joe or anyone is saying getting run on constantly is good — it's just the preference over allowing explosive pass plays AND you have to play the run better.
  5. Just listened to this Marino podcast today (I catch many of his podcasts). He claims that there's a corelation between limiting explosive plays versus conceding the run and winning. Some here dispute he's right. I don't have the stats but would put money on teams with explosive passing win more than teams without explosive passing but consistent running. I could be wrong, however. But it seems like a fact-based argument rather than could be resolved with some stats. He also said the Bills defenders need to do a better job shedding blocks. Given how Hill was fairly limited with 80 yards receiving on 4 plays with a long of 28 and Waddle had -4 yards (yes, minus) receiving, I'd do the same — with better block shedding, in the future. Especially if we build up a decent lead earlier.
  6. Only the Bills have a franchise QB that's really viable. Tua is one hit away from done. Franchise QB is all the difference.
  7. Love Badly's breakdowns. An experienced perspective without any bluster or clickbait takes.
  8. I told Bowles to go for 2! I told him! It's in writing in this thread!
  9. Get a TD, bleed the clock and go for 2.
  10. I'll take that TD with Mahomes getting that.
  11. Sure. Agreed. But when he was younger he got more yards. Kelce getting few yards most games is good for the Bills and everyone else. He'll still get catches and TDs but he's not as dominant. IMHO. He's like 35 so it had to happen.
  12. Kelce looks slower. Only 335 yards in his first 7 games. Still good but not a devastating force anymore.
  13. Wouldn't it be awesome if the son of a Bills great got a pick to secure the Tampa win tonight?
  14. When they cut to Bowles he has that stoic look of "I know we're getting f***** over and I just have to accept it."
  15. Great catch by Otton. And I have zero sympathy when KC players go down if the play was clean and no head injury. F*** 'em.
  16. Hell of a catch there. TB pass catchers doing well getting hit.
  17. Helluva drive. That catch by Jarret and getting rocked and breaking through was beautiful for a smaller guy.
  18. Did Taylor and her mom see that fumble?
  19. It's a TV lottery ticket. You probably won't win but if you do it will feel so good.
  20. No, not enough difference makers on both sides. Not with Milano hurt, Rapp and Hamlin playing safety and the D line very average. And outside of Shakir, no consistent threat on offense — yet. That could change as Cooper and Coleman evolve in their roles. But the team can win if Allen is smart and we're well coached.
  21. You can't pay everyone. I would take a chance with Elam as number 2 CB next year in order to pay for Josh's weapons (might have to extend Cooper or get someone else) and pay for proven D-line experience. Benford, Rousseau, Shakir might be extended and not a lot of cash left.
  22. Good catch but far better play by Josh.
