  1. Building an o-line a tricky balancing act. You draft one in 2nd, 3rd or 4th round, they may not be NFL ready, but because of limited roster size, you almost have to put them on active roster and cut a vet like Quessenbury or Boettger. You can't carry 10 o-linemen. If you try to sneak the draftee onto the practice squad, you risk some other team stealing him. If your first-string guard is injured, you have to throw your rookie into the fire even though he's not ready. Last year, Eagles stole a draftee from our practice squad. Indy did same this year (although I don't think Tenuta was a big loss). Spend a high draft pick on O-line, you better be sure he can step in right away. And let's face it...the draft is a crapshoot.
  2. Two practice squad tackles...Alec Anderssen (UCLA) 6-5, 305; Ryan Van Demark (UConn) 6-6, 307. Both undrafted free agents. Will a year of sitting and learning, plus an off-season in weight room, make one of them viable candidates this summer? One can dream, no?
  3. Watching the Chiefs yesterday and Bengals today... they make a lot of short passes that turn into big gains. Kelce yesterday and Hurst today were wide open. Josh does not have that kind of offense at his disposal. Chad f'ing Henne took the Chiefs 98 yards to a score. Allen can do that too, but he risks life and limb with every dropback.
  4. Turned sound off on Chiefs 1st drive. Much more enjoyable without Collinsworth's smarmy voice.
  5. Ravens wasted a good defensive effort. Their 2-minute "offense" was brutal. A collective brain fart from their coaches.
  6. Nice picks. 2nd great game in a row for Taron. Saw a replay of last week's game and he was all over the field in the 2nd half.
  7. Can't sight a specific game or play, but over the course of Allen's 5 seasons, there have been hits in the pocket that would have drawn flags for other qb's.
  8. Refs giving Allen the Cam Newton treatment. He's big, so he can take more hits. Newton took a lot of hits that should have been flagged. I fear Allen getting the same treatment.
  9. Does anyone have an insight into Skylar's abilities? Accurate passer? Run threat?
  10. Last time around, the city had 3 or 4 parcels where they could build a domed stadium. Mayor Daley dictated that Soldier Field be renovated instead. McCaskey family went along. City passed away numerous opportunities to host a Super Bowl.
  11. Not a great day for defense, but they came up big when it counted: Tre pick to stop long drive. Only allowing fg after Motor fumble. Milano end zone pick.
  12. Shout out to Smoke Brown. Goes from non-roster player to big-time catch at critical moment of game. Happy for him.
  13. Taiwan has done this a couple of times this season. I can't remember which games, but they were short, bouncing punts. Hines waving Bills off. But Jones walks up real close to the moving ball, like he's daring it to touch him.
  14. If the Bills wanted to elevate Beasley, I would think they would check with league office to make sure he was still eligible for a third callup.
  15. I like Ike. Remember the cheap shot Kiko put on Allen a couple of years ago? Boettger was 1st Bill into the melee to defend his qb. But when Boettger went down last season, Bates replaced him and o-line improved the rest of the season.
  16. Beasley played hurt much of last year. Ribs. If he's in shape, could be healthiest he's been in 2 seasons. I can dream, can't I?
  17. Saw it on replay. Maybe Bills will submit to league office and a fine will be issued by end of week.
  18. Fins play Sunday night at Chargers, get home around 4-7 Monday, then have short week to prep for Bills. Sweet.
  19. Re: club level. Rows 1-7 not as protected as higher rows. Had seats in row 8 for Vikings game and had good protection from wind and precip. Overhead heating helped, too.
  20. Coming from out of town for Vikes game. Anyone know how effective the heating is for club seats?
  21. True. But it takes me a grand total of 30 seconds to check.
  22. Right now, AccuWeather has a high of 40 with afternoon showers. I'm checking daily cause my son and I are coming from Chicago for the game. Hopefully the forecast will improve as Nov.13 gets closer.
  23. Flying in for Vikings game. Will be driving to stadium from vicinity of airport. Have parking pass, hopefully for lot 7. I see two possible routes: Rte 20 to stadium with a left turn into parking lot. 2nd route is 90 w to 219 to 179 to Abbott road. Any recommendations? Also, what is a good time to arrive to avoid getting shut out of lot?
