  1. At least I've heard of Banta-Cain. Myron who?
  2. Don't keep track of other teams' fans too much, but here's the current version of the board I linked to in 2006: http://www.dabears.com/ You can check out the Trib and Sun-Times sites, as well as Kevin Seifert's NFC North blog on ESPN. Trib columnist Dan Pompei used to be the national NFL writer for The Sporting News. I also follow David Haugh (Trib beat writer) on Twitter. 2.) As Mr. Wawrow has previously noted, he only employs the shift key when he's getting paid to do so. We can't afford that, so we settle for the free version.
  3. http://www.twobillsdrive.com/articles/game_day/134/ Looks like I missed all the fun yesterday, as I was adding more frequent-flyer mileage to the car on the Thruway between Rochester and Buffalo. Nope, didn't see Michael Vick anywhere along the route, although I can confirm that a relieved cheer went up from the assembled media on the Growney Stadium sideline when the Vick-to-Eagles news started breaking via BlackBerry. And rather than dredge up the thread closed by our fearless leader, I'll add my kudos to John Wawrow in this one. Despite the apparent surge of "inside sources" and misinformation from people seeking to contradict him on Vick, Mr. Wawrow -- the Buffalo sports writer for The Associated Press, for those who may still not recognize the name -- had the story (or lack thereof) nailed down tight from the beginning. We are fortunate indeed that he has chosen to contribute to this forum. Thanks again, John.
  4. Heh. And here you probably thought Brady was going to be the big story at the game you covered tonight... So what was it like inside the press box at the Linc when the news about Vick broke?
  5. Okay, Wawrow told me Kelsay was the first guy battling with Wood. By the time everything cleared up enough for me to see them, 70 had moved on to mixing it up with McCargo. Those two also had to be pulled apart, with 97 circling back to make one final comment to the rookie. Highlight of the practice. Give me four more like Wood, and the Bills will have the best line in the league. Told Chuck Pollock afterward, "That kid's going to be the best lineman on the team by midseason." He didn't disagree.
  6. A friend looked up his PIM record: two seasons, zero fighting majors.
  7. Cheers, to one of my oldest (and I don't mean age-wise) friends on this board. Have a good one, ya bastage!
  8. Good luck with that. He apparently didn't believe me when I told him the same thing.
  9. Some additional info: both Commissioner of Tailgating Joe Cahn and "Jay the Tailgate Guy," with whom we had the pleasure of grilling and chilling last Sunday, plan to be in attendance. Stop by and say hi! Oh, and even if you can't park your car on Friday and be there for the duration, they're looking for people to be part of the crowd Saturday morning.
  10. Really, it isn't. I know *I* didn't do anything to it, but I'd have to ask around to see whether or not anyone else did.
  11. Dunno. Was that before or after the other one? And I certainly wouldn't have nuked it -- in fact, if Deano has it right, I would have thought it was pretty funny.
  12. The post jester quoted from 10:32 didn't disappear. Nothing from within 20 minutes of that time in the trash can. Instead, it was apparently rewritten by the person who posted it. Glad to clear that up.
  13. Aaaand, in an update which should shock exactly nobody, he was released today.
  14. Okay, now I'll be waiting for the transcript to show up on the media site. Thanks for the update, kind sir. Still got some vacation left; maybe I'll head up that way tomorrow ...
  15. As I said in a previous thread, odds are strongly against the Titans' regular punter, Craig Hentrich, trying that play.
  16. Got a cookbook on the market, Chef? I'd buy that sumbitch.
  17. It is not. Try this one: http://wjz.com/wireapsportsmd/Bills.unsign....2.1123874.html You can also check the "no tweeting" thread.
  18. Hey, aren't you supposed to be at work right now? (Yeah, I should edit this line to include a .) Think anyone will get a non-TO word in edgewise with Jauron after practice?
  19. They have. Riter's info was from Jauron's statement. Here's the release on the media site:
  20. Sprained, per Riter. Not practicing tonight. And since it is a night practice, presumably Wawrow will have more about this later in the evening.
  21. The first step was to recognize there was a problem. The next is to work your way through it. I'm not in your position, so I don't have any specific advice ... but I can tell you to remember that you're not the only one going through this. Here's another one: Columnist, others know what's being thrown at Texas Rangers' Hamilton You and Cowlishaw both had the guts to discuss this in public. To me, that's a sign of strength, not powerlessness. Use that strength to your advantage, one day at a time. Good luck.
  22. We'll see if Mortensen steps onto the field again. Hey, looks like your single-bar facemask story is up, Tim. Neat read. Was that a natural progression from the AFL anniversary stuff, or did you come at it from a different direction? http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast/0-9-151...single-bar.html
  23. Eh, some of the guys we hung out with Sunday showed up solely to tailgate and blew off the game. Come to think of it, there were games I wished I'd done the same thing ...
