  1. Not by Jauron. Remember 56-10? Losman started and finished that game. I'm not saying it's a definite sign that something is brewing, just found it interesting because it goes against Jauron's M.O.
  2. Trent Dilfer: "This might be the worst offense I've ever seen." And yet, Quinn has actually managed to win one game in his career. Against Buffalo, of course.
  3. Gruden, after Quinn's bomb lands halfway between the sideline and the stands: "I'd like to at least see the ball somewhere near the field of play."
  4. Dunno if you saw my mention yesterday, but when someone brought up Yale in the BuffNews live chat, DiCesare replied, "Maybe it's time to request the transcripts."
  5. Wellll now. Our man JW's been busy today, no? Whole bunch of interesting stuff to chew on in that story. And yeah, for No. 94 to come that close to the edge ... tick, tick, tick ....
  6. For the sideline stuff, again, no problem. For the on-field pout, I'd think to myself, "Oh, great -- Owens' diva attitude is rubbing off on him." And I think I've made it clear from the start that I'm not fond of the look-at-me types. Just my opinion, and your mileage may vary. But I find myself thinking back to what Sully (and a bunch of people here) said when they signed Owens: if he does blow up the locker room, so what? We miss the playoffs again, and ...? And I realize I'm pretty much at that point.
  7. I'm talking about the plays right before and including the second pick-six, when they were already down 17. Everyone in the stadium could see the guy was frustrated (and with some good reason), they weren't going to make a miraculous comeback with Fitzpatrick, and don't forget that Owens' hip had been bothering him during the week. A better question might be, why was he still in there, risking injury? And please don't make the mistake of thinking I'm trying to defend this offense. When FJax hit Evans for the TD, I tweeted Maiorana, "Hey, the Bills finally found their QB."
  8. Bud, How's that for "defending the shield"? Hugs, The Commish
  9. Hah. No doubt. I'm still stunned that they yanked Edwards -- in the last 3.5 years, I've seen QBs (including him) play a lot worse than that and stay on the field.
  10. Yes and no. The sideline stuff wasn't any different than Jim, Andre and the gang used to do. Stuff happens. Tempers flare. No problem with that. On the other hand, dogging it on the field shouldn't be tolerated, and they probably should've just told him to shut it down for the day at that point. JMO.
  11. A work in progress, but it's still a cool addition. Since I've seen a couple of the other guys start doing them as well, I'm assuming this will now be a semi-regular feature? And if you haven't had a chance to catch up, DBell might be gone for a while, maybe the rest of the year. They HAVE to bring someone else in at T now, don't they?
  12. Nah, that was two in the same season. Pretty sure there was another one or two scattered through '03-05. Checking ... Two is the correct answer. Holcomb one in '05, Bledsoe '03... after #11 had SEVEN in 2002. We didn't know how good we had it. (For the record, Jim Kelly had 26. Sigh ... but back then, we DID know how good we had it.)
  13. He did. 328 in the loss to the Jets in that year's home opener.
  14. For the record: Losman, Houston, 11/19/06. From my preview of this year's Texans game: Add two more, which makes it 47 and counting.
  15. Walker went back to the Raiders last month. Doubt he would've been interested anyway, after the way that deal went down.
  16. In a literal or figurative sense? Not sure Wilson would have made the trip. But considering RCW's staunch disapproval of franchise relocation, including Adams running the Oilers into the ground to get out of his lease in Houston, one suspects there may have been words exchanged between the two on that subject. Ralph, at the 1996 league meetings: "I think people who follow it very closely have lost a lot of respect for the NFL with all this shifting around of franchises and players. Pro football is such a tremendous sport if the owners and players don't ruin it." (Some irony there, in retrospect. As always, thanks to Sal Maiorana and Relentless -- you can find that quote in Vol. II.)
  17. Something I forgot to mention: high-ankle sprain for Youboty. Since it's already mid-November, he may not make it back this year (my speculation).
  18. My best guess is, he'd make more money coaching, but he probably doesn't need to look for a second job either way. FWIW, here's the release from ESPN: http://espnmediazone.com/press_releases/20...enExtension.htm (Hat tip to Chris Brown at bb.com for posting it on his blog, and it looks like one of the webbies in Bristol needs to learn how Gru spells his first name ...)
  19. No comment. Wait, I take that back. Here's something I wrote last month, and recapped in a different thread last night:
  20. Evans? We saw Reed. Sal asked me about it during the game -- they couldn't see it from the press box -- so I told him that it looked like whatever was going on, JR had TO's back, but Gannon (who was all over Owens even before he started pouting at the end of the game) didn't bother mentioning that on the broadcast. Then, of course, they asked him about it in the postgame and got the "we were trying to get everyone on the same page" reply.
  21. Sideline flareup: I've seen so many of those. It's not unusual. But because it's him, it always gets blown up. False start penalties a function of youth and inexperience. And that's it. (Those are all paraphrased unless I actually used quotation marks, btw. Some of them are close, but I'd want to recheck the tape before attributing them for print.)
  22. Donte knew he was going to dress, but pretty much as an emergency option. Thought he was close to being ready.
