  1. "Plus-Minus Monday" is just what it sounds like - he goes through his list of positives and negatives from the game, and then opens up the lines for people to call/e-mail with their lists. Some people play it straight, some go for the sarcastic angle (especially after a loss). Dunno why, but something tells me that at 0-4, today's show is going to be brutal. Like I said, he could probably use a light moment or two....
  2. So our defense isn't that good, but it's better than the Colts and Chargers. I can buy that. I'm afraid that goes back to PIA's point, though - Chargers have scored at least 20 points in four of five games this season, Colts in 5-of-5. And combined, they're 7-3. So scoring more than 10 points/game on offense does have its advantages....
  3. Mark you down for one torch or two, Jay?
  4. You might want to rethink your stance on Jax - Leftwich has thrown for over 300 yards in each of the last two weeks, and their offense is averaging two TDs/game. Even considering the last-drive meltdown, Leftwich's WORST game of the season was against the Bills.
  5. Hate to harsh your buzz there dude, but Bledsoe had 247 yards against the Pats. Might want to edit that. Otherwise, nice post. Hits just the right tone of before segueing to the angst of the last line...... You know this is "Plus-Minus Monday" on the Simoncast, right? E-mail that to Howard, he'll need something to laugh about....
  6. I can see it now - the torch-bearing mob of villagers, pounding on the door of the administration building, hunting the man who put together this Frankenstein's-monster of a team.... Could be fun.
  7. C'mon PIA - while our offense was busy punting, Pennington and Chrebet were playing a nice game of pitch-and-catch. 31/42, that's a 73.8 completion %, and Gannon and Brady both did the same thing. 85/135 for the season - that's almost a 63% completion rate against us, and that stinks. Darn straight, if the offense could score more than 10 points, we win at least a couple of those games. Nobody's letting them off the hook for their part in this. But too many times this season, I've seen the other team go right down the field whenever they needed to. And you can't blame it on them being on the field too long, because the Bills are actually averaging over 30:00 in time-of-possesion. I was out on the line, listening to the game when Bledsoe hit Evans. After a nervous moment waiting for Lindell's XP attempt, I let out a whoop and told the guy I was working with "yeah - we're actually WINNING! ..... But there's still lots of time left for Pennington to drive down to a FG....." Seen it happen too many times with this D.
  8. Seems like every recent QB we've had has regressed. Hmmm... there's a trend there..... Since you got to watch the game, Rich, how did the kid from Amherst - Mark Rubin - look at WR? (I'm on 4-12s right now, and didn't bother taping it.)
  9. Hey, by all means, keep doin' what you're doin'. I know the team is 0-4; I don't need to read 18,278 posts consisting solely of "this team SUCKS !!!!!!!! :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: " to remind me. I, for one, still have faith your signature line won't turn out to be an accurate prediction of the 2004 season (although the sweep-Miami part, I like....)
  10. Sad thing is, you're both right. Win as a team, lose as a team, and this TEAM seems to have a pretty good handle on the losing part.
  11. Yeah, but remember, we just got a new OC... Sigh....
  12. There's fractures, and then there's fractures.... Does anyone actually remember the play where Milloy broke his arm? Just re-ran that tape - it looked like a complete break to me, with his hand flopping at a NASTY angle. Made my arm hurt, just watching it. We're probably lucky he's not out for the season. Little different than a fracture in a metacarpal, which is what Mawae's playing with, or the hairline fracture Travis Henry ran on last season. Milloy was smokin' with Ricky if he thought he was going to be ready for the season opener.
  13. Yes there is, Rich. I can guarantee you Penn State will NOT lose next week.
  14. Yep, once he fixed his Morningwheg mistake and got some TALENT (read: a few of those high-first-round draft picks), it's amazing how much better a GM he's become. Hmmm... could work..... oops, I forgot we no longer own next April's high-first-round pick. Sigh.........
  15. Duey, the Bills are 0-4. And you expect objective analysis? Here?!? Ahem. To get serious, I appreciate the first-hand view, and I agree with most of your points. Good post. But most of us are just so frustrated at this point - heck, even Ralph is ticked off and talking about it - that asking for anything approaching civil discourse probably won't work too well right about now....
  16. True - surprised anyone would still hold a grudge against him. JD Williams would've been my first choice. (Somebody else can add the obvious RJ reference here....)
  17. That's funny BF, I thought you were talking to me with that last post.... ah well.... Point taken, although like I said, it's something I try to avoid when possible. But that's just me.
  18. Got a point there. I try not to do it, but it's just easier to type it that way than to keep typing "the Bills". And considering how many of my co-workers expect me to answer for the team's gameplanning, player personnel decisions, etc., it was an easy habit to fall into.....
  19. Ask Pat Toomay. Bills recovered a fumble deep in Miami territory, refs ruled it a non-fumble, and tacked on a 15-yard penalty on Toomay for arguing the call. I believe that was the first time Ralph got fined for blasting the refs. And after Carroll Rosenbloom (the Rams owner) agreed with Wilson and offered to pay some of Ralph's fine, Rozelle slapped him with a fine, too. And the NFL never did admit the ref blew the call.
  20. Was that you? I knew I got it from someone here, a few years back. It just seemed so appropriate for this game.....
  21. Sorry, I still gotta go with the giant-meteor-hitting-the-stadium option on this one...... Poll results: the meteor won!
  22. I will repeat my point once more, since some of you seemed to miss it the first time: Am I a "Bledsoe fan"? Yup, because he plays for the Bills. Same with anyone else on the roster. That doesn't mean I don't think he's part of the problem, and you'll note I didn't take issue with zow's main point.... indeed, although I wouldn't rush him back and risk complications with the injury, I'll most likely be joining you on the play-Losman-now bandwagon when he gets back to full strength. But if somebody uses "facts" to back up their statement without checking to see if those facts are actually true, I'm going to call them on it. That's how I've been playin' it since I've been here; don't expect it to change any time soon.
  23. Gridlock. Turning Abbott and Big Tree into parking lots. Cool. They'd be better off opening the bleepin' gates, IMO.
  24. NFL | Williams Faces Paternity Suit - from www.KFFL.com Sat, 9 Oct 2004 08:10:07 -0700 Kristen Haunss, of the Miami Sun-Sentinel, reports former Miami Dolphins RB Ricky Williams faces a paternity suit in Broward County court after Cherie Nicole Clark claimed Williams is the father of her son. Clark filed papers in August requesting child support from Williams, who initially denied having an intimate relationship with the 23-year old woman. However, Williams later admitted they had "an intimate relationship during the time that the minor child in these proceedings was conceived." Williams is required to undergo a paternity test by Nov. 15. NFL | Williams to Play One More Year? - from www.KFFL.com Fri, 8 Oct 2004 21:21:05 -0700 In an interview scheduled to appear in Esquire next month, retired NFL RB Ricky Williams says he misses football, but would play only one more season if he returns to the league. According to the Associated Press, he also regrets his abrupt retirement before the 2004 season, without discussing the matter with Miami Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt first. "I should have been man enough to have a conversation with Dave before all this happened," Williams said. "But I didn't. I got scared, and I just told him I was retiring. It just came out."
